Arnold speaks: "Terminator: Salvation was awful.."

terminator 3 was an ok movie and i remember scenes from it like crane chase last helicopter fall etc also the finale
Salvation was bad movie really bad high budget movie and i cant even remember any single thing about the movie

“Or True Lies 2, with that we’ll probably have to wait a little bit because it’s more of a family kind of a movie, the family dynamic works. My personal situation doesn’t work so well right now. Until that’s settled, then we can go off and do that again, with family subjects. [laughs]”
I am unable to understand what this means.

Also: T3 was OK. I was expecting shit but it was OK.

it's the exception that proves the rule

=)

Salvation is the first stage of the war. That's why its different than the scenes from 1 and 2 and 3. The t800 doesn't even exist yet.

Terminator 3 could have been a great film.

If it wasn't 90 minutes long and flowing like it was cut to shreds.

I once heard there is a mythical 210 minute cut.

Terminator Salvation had some amazing sound design. I remember going to the midnight screening, and the volume was probably the loudest I've ever heard in a theater. It was pure awesome. The Terminators actually sounded like giant walking tanks that wanted to kill everything. Shame that the score was godawful.

Here's an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBS5Elx635w

And yeah, it was better than T3.

I know this is the internet and everything is awful but I rather enjoyed Salvation. As good as T1/T2? God no. Better than T3? You bet your sweet ass.

And believe it or not I still like T3 just fine. It's just my least favorite by far.

Perhaps it's because I'm a Terminator 3 apologist, but hearing people actually like Salvation, let alone prefer it over 3, is absolutely bonkers. T3 has plenty of problems, but Salvation is almost at the same level of absolute shit that Transformers 2 and 2012 display.

Mind bogglin'.

I read that as Terminator 2. I was about to nuke you from orbit.

I was ready to say salvation over t3, but then i remembered two things about salvation.

1. danny elfman
2. john gets in chopper to leave, nuke goes off, he crashes and is upside down. But he never put a seat belt on, yet while upside down, he unbuckles himself from said seatbelt.

terminator 3 is a good action movie, bad terminator movie. salvation had Bale jumping in and out of batman voice along with Sam Worthington jumping in and out of his accent.

given that the studio basically forced T3 to stick to the 'format' of the first two films I thought they did a decent job with it, and while the first two thirds feel really retready, the last act more than justified it's existance for me.

i haven't rewatched Salvation since i first saw it. it was just such a patchwork. there was no flow or structure to it, and it felt like every twenty minutes it got a new director.

i didn't dislike it, but it definately felt like missed potential, whereas T3 felt like it was better than it had any right to be given the studio demands.

Well, that humor has always been a part of the series. It's needed, but maybe T3 had a little too much.
T2 had some funny moments (e.g. "He'll live", "Are we learning yet?") but I don't remember any in the first one, at least not laugh-out-loud. T1 did have some wry, ironic moments (e.g. "Machines need love, too", and "To Protect and Serve" on the side of Arnold's cop car). But that was about it, as I recall.

Not sure what everyone is talking about here, there were only 2 Terminator movies, and they were great.
Just like the Alien franchise.

Terminator salvation was alright. Ok, it didn't feel like a Terminator movie and the future scenes from the 2 before it were FAR superior to anything we saw in that movie but it was alright. It wasn't offensively bad. Terminator 3 was just bland. They wanted to make T2 again but ended up with everything being worse. The best scene was one Arnie paid for him self and demanded be put in which was when he was hanging onto the crane.

STOP HATING ON T2. I HAVE A T2 MOVIE POSTER BESIDE MY BED. I WILL KILL YOUR FAMILY IF YOU HATE ON T2.

Thanks for your attention.

Today i learnt that there are actually people that prefer t4 to t3, i'm now contemplating suicide
Salvation would have been a pretty decent Robot Arnegeddon movie without Terminator. Adding terminators to it (Barely) is what makes it crappy. The design and setting would have been nice as a stand alone franchise.

T3 just was not good until the ending which wasn't good either but was a nice twist.

True lies 2?! Fuck yeah! Eliza Dushku was the daughter in the movie. She's the girl from doll house. If they bring her in it could be a bad ass movie!

they better get Brett Ratner or someone to do True Lies 2.
Cameron's gotta shit through these fucking Avatar movies first, because then we have BATTLE ANGEL on the docket after that!

I swear to god if Cameron pushes Battle Angel back further for True Lies 2 I will send an explosive shark to attack his next submersible mission!

oh... and Salvation was much better than T3. Great atmosphere! Other than the ending and the Terminatrix eye-candy, T3 was drek.
TALK TO DA HAAAND!

Personally I think Salvation would have been awesome, dark, and twisted, had they gone with the rumored original ending.
Connor dies, and the cyborg Marcus is disguised as Connor to carry on the mission, meaning it was never Connor at all who led humanity to victory.

T3 was a better film, it just looked like it was made very cheaply compared to it's previous entries. Salvation simply looked great, but it sucked at everything

Salvation wasn't that bad. Not as good as the first three, but OK for a Ahnold-less attempt. The chopper crash and desert chase were fun action sequences.
Was that the sequence where they were chased by the Decepticons?

Terminator 2 is one of the best action movies for sure, but... you can tell T2 is where Cameron started to aim for 'wider' audiences. You have to admit going from a gritty, unrelenting thriller/action hybrid into a family-friendly popcorn flick was a weird transition. John Connor never got to Anakin-levels of annoying, but it was close.
My inner sociopath died a little when John Connor's screeching swayed the Ahnolnator to only shoot people in the kneecaps. That's why he killed himself at the end. It wasn't to save the world from Skynet. It was because it was depressed that some little mall rat with a lame skater haircut took away that which is best in life.

It also blows my mind that John Connor's bitchy foster mother was Vasquez from Aliens. How weird is that?

Let's be real guys, he's right. Salvation was a turd. We had Christian Bale channeling Batman into his performance and making his best effort at doing a horrible job, we had Sam Worthington. Sam Worthington. We had a mute girl whose only purpose was to alert us to terminators, what, 2 seconds early? She was otherwise useless. The plot was lame, the fighting was lame, it all just sucked.

I saw T2 and Aliens about a hundred times when I was a kid, but somehow I only finally noticed this a few years back.

edit:
we had Sam Worthington. Sam Worthington.

I will maintain that Sam Worthington's character was the sole redeeming quality of the movie. And I don't even like Sam Worthington.
