"Oh, it’s so cute. She sometimes takes a little pack of mayonnaise, and she’ll squirt it in her mouth all over, and then she’ll take an egg and kind of... Mmmm! She calls it a “mayonegg.” Are you okay?"

I still don't get that joke other than the fact that Micheal gets nauseated.

It might take a few episodes but you should def keep watching it'll click with you soon enough.

i didn't like season 3 that much, the beginning of it, but the finish was fantastic

i still remember Fox aired the last 4 episodes on a friday night, haha smh they never deserved arrested development

"no touching, no touching!"

Yeah, you really need to watch a few more episodes. It needs a tiny bit of buildup due to the fact that is uses a lot of recurring stuff.

I thought there was some word play on "Mayonegg." (Man egg?)

The joke is that George Michael is bragging about it the way you might normally say a girlfriend is so cute when she scrunches up her nose or something. His "oh my girlfriend is the cutest" story is an absolutely disgusting one that he thinks makes her sound endearing and clever, and he's so proud of it. Michael's disgust is at the story itself but also the realization dawning that his son is dating her.

It's a new horror every time he has the realization. (And has it and has it.)

Arrested Development is great, despite the internet trying its hardest to ruin it with random quotes that don't work out of context.

Heh, context is absolutely necessary. I never really got what was so funny about all of those gifs that were posted before until I finally watched the show.

I think most of the jokes do work out of context if only because so much of the show is about ridiculousness. The lines are funny if just for how silly they sound, they're almost non-sequiturs. Of course they are often incredibly well layered.

Lucille needs more love. Great character, great actress. She doesn't even have to say a word to get a laugh. Most expressive glances ever.
"I don't understand the question, and I will not respond to it"

I find myself using her line whenever I'm in a snobbish mood heh

Oh, COME ON!

Telling us we can't take Arrested Development quotes out of context for f--

--king 6000 posts! COME ON!

Also watched a re-run on IFC today:

George Sr.: Soak the puppet's mouth with ether, and have Franklin give Lucille a kiss to knock her out.
Gob: [as Franklin] I ain't kissin' that ol' bitch!
George Sr.: [starts to choke Franklin] That's my wife, you bastard!
Gob: Dad, that's my wrist!
George Sr.: [chokes Gob]
Gob: [as Franklin] Hey, that's his neck!

Started to crack up because of the puppet.

Watched it through for the 4th time recently, and noticed 4000 more jokes.

It gets richer and richer with every viewing.

You can't quote the running gags like "That's a freebie" in a thread. You need to watch through the whole series to understand why it's genius and hilarious.

That made me LOL just reading it. God, after schools out this summer I'm going to watch it through again. I cannot freaking wait

I think the joke was that she was such a fundamentalist she'd swallow anything.

"Why am I not going underwater? WHY AM I NOT GOING UNDERWATER?"

Wayne Jarvis:

We have reason to believe your father was builings houses in Iraq.

Michael:

Are you serious?

Wayne Jarvis:

Almost always. I was once called the worst audience participant Cirque du Soleil ever had.

Michael:

This is a big accusation.

Wayne Jarvis:

Well, Michael, I did not find their buffoonery amusing.

Michael:

I meant about my father.

I was sold by the second episode ("Oh my god! WE'RE HAVING A FIRE!! ...sale")

But yeah, first episode isn't as great as the rest of the series. I haven't seen much of S3 yet though.

Netflix has rekindled my love for the show. I missed a lot of the final season due to Fox being a dick about it and I never did catch up.

My favorite AD moment NEVER gets love
So I made this real quick

No! I'm Withholding it. Look at me. Getting off...

Douche chilllll.

BEADS.

BEES?

BEADS!

BEADS?!

Gob's not on board.

Get the seaward out of here. I'll leave whenever i want.

Man, i love this show.

My favourite scene. The way she stares at Annyong makes me laugh every time. Jessica Walter was brilliant in this show and Lucille was definitely my favourite character.

Probably my favorite scene in the history of television is when Gob is delivering pot to George Michael and when Michael comes down from interrogating GM Gob has a mouth full of smoke, coughs, looks around and says "cold out tonight"

I can sort of see why some people are down on the third season, but for me it has a lot of the funniest moments from the whole series. I love how utterly disconnected from reality it sometimes got. Oh, and one of my favourite lines that I never see quoted:

"Who ever said vegetables were good for your heart!"

I watched through most of season one and never really cracked a smile..

The banana stand scenes n shit kept me watching but for a comady it didn't really float my boat, then again its wity lines from shows like the wire, sopranos that really get me going.

It's definitely just as funny but the structure of the later episodes and the season as a whole really went down the toilet because of the cancellation. Things were shoehorned in and resolved rapidly because they were about to go off the air, once the Rita story ended it all got very scatter-shot and episodes like the Iraq one were a bit of a mess. That episode does have one of my favourite lines though, when the Saddam impersonator says 'I am behaving like an Uday lookalike!'.

Something I picked up recently:

in the pilot, when Michael is gone and the family needs him, Lindsay says something like, "we need Michael," and Gob responds: "We need ice..." He is looking at his drink, but this also means the bounty hunter that is hired many many episodes later. Insane.

There's something wrong with your brain.

As people might be able to tell with my avatar, I love this show. But don't we have a LTTP Arrested Development thread like every 2 weeks?

Wow. Never caught that.

Recently watched all of it. Best comedy ever. Oh and in my defense, I didn't watch much television at all in 2003 -- I was only twelve.

I always have to force myself to look away whenever I see that gif, because with every loop, I find Michael's face funnier and funnier.

i could totally see this show going over your head

It really is a phenominal show. You really havent seen it until you've gone through it a second time (and a third, and a fourth...) and realize how layered it really is.

Pssh that didn't stop me. Watched the entire show when it aired and I was only 11.
