May I just say that the Lance family storyline has pissed me off since the moment Sara died? What is even the fucking point?

Also a surefire way of tearing a family to pieces to keeping the death of a daughter a secret. Why this was even suggested as a plot device is beyond me.

Why is every character okay with Chesthair not knowing?!

Oliver explicitly stated that Quentin Lance (which his actual name) should know. So no, not every character is okay with him not knowing. But it is a family matter and not his responsibility.

This show loves its secrets

Watch, no one will show Thea the video of her killing Sara or tell her that her father is literally mind controlling her to do evil shit

I wonder if they'll even bother to tell her Oliver died

Right when it happened I knew they were going to drag that out, and eventually she'll remember or someone will tell her and she'll get all existential. The best case scenario for her finding out is if Nyssa finds out it was her and comes to kill her and Thea discovers the truth during the standout between Nyssa and whoever.

It pissed me off when Ollie knowing there was a good chance he was going to his death didn't bother to let her know that. Now she's alone with her dad who will have even more influence over her.

His name is Chesthair and it's beautiful, stop going against the grain thanks.

Also just because one character on the show makes my post literally false doesn't really change the point I was making.

If Oliver dies Merlyn is the last one who can realistically protect her from the league. Diving them isn't smart. He will propably tell her when he's back.

Okay, I'm all up-to-date now and I have to say - holy shit.
This just went all out comic book style. Which is awesome.

I gasped and screamed at the last episode, it was so intense.
At first I didn't like the actor who's playing Ra's, but he's kind of growing on me now.

My theory is that
it was all part of Merlyn's plan, I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Arrow doesn't stand a chance against Ra's Al Ghul. He knew Oliver would die, but he needed him to die. He also needs him alive for Thea, so he'll resurrect the way he was resurrected - at the lazarus pit. There's more hidden motives in there that we still don't know about, for sure, but it's all part of the grand Merlyn plan to clean his name. Meanwhile, by the time Oliver recovers from being dead, Felicity will be all over the new hero in town - Captain Atom, so this will be something to stomach for him.
I can't wait! Happy to hear that it's only a month until next season too.

Also, I recon team Arrow will tell her before he does. I don't think Merlyn cares that much, also read above post for more of my theory. I think Felicity and the others will be so broken and devastated they'll blame her for his death and tell her the whole truth. I mean, she's bound to wonder where he went after that little 'I will always love you' speech as well.

No one should tell Laurel that Ollie's dead and when she ask, just say he went backpacking in the mountains.

Oh my stars and garters.

I'm finally up to date. All I can say is that Arrow has shown its worth by turning itself around in just one single fucking episode. I watched the lates episode with my friend-girl and we were both basically raving and howling.

Ah-mah-zing.

Edit: I was unsure of the show featuring Ras, but what an amazing pick they did when they cast his actor. Matthew Nable killed it along any doubt I had.

I just caught up myself and goddamn was that ending scene beautiful. I wasn't expecting them to go through with it, didn't think they'd have the guts to do it. It really showed Ras as an unstoppable killing machine, that Oliver isn't in the same COUNTRY with, let alone the same ballpark.

But the episode wasn't that different from the rest of the season. :/

Aside from the end, which wasn't even that great (the fight was bad), it had the same problems. Everyone is acting like an idiot to make sure there's as much drama as possible. Sure, a certain amount of stupidity from characters is needed in order to create drama, but I feel like Arrow is overdoing it this season.

Yep, agree with all that. The best bit was that the end opens up a starling city without Ollie which could be interesting. The rest wasn't that great.

I really liked this mid-season finale. My issues are as follows, though:

Laurel not telling her dad and telling Thea not to tell Oliver. My biggest issue has been this plotline and they found some way to resolve it and make it worse at the same time.

Thea jumping off of that balcony was some Looney Tunes shit. Could not stop laughing.

Diggle, with a completely straight-ass face, "Oliver you are the smartest man I know."
Now--now you and I both know, John Diggle, that what you just said is some absolute, straight nonsense. Oliver Queen is not the smartest man you have ever known at any point.

Also, on a positive note, Ra's al Ghul was cast perfectly, in my opinion.

Bwahahahahaha

I actually think the three last episodes were all truly great. Cupid ended up the best standalone villain of the week episode the show ever did. The Arrow part of the crossover was excellent too, with very sharp tonal shiftf from flash, plenty of substance in character development and amazing villain.

And the mid season finale was incredible.Best fall finale out of all the shows I've watched and this includes Flash and AoS, despite how great those two were. I guess this is the advantage a long running show has over shorter unproven one. It can actually take time to slowly build the dread till the terryfing ending, instead of trying to dazzle me every 5 minutes. The end result felt much more powerful than all the cool revelations in other shows. It felt...epic I guess. Not to mention Ra's stomps all over any villain on TV right now (well. untill doctor Hannibal Lecter returns of course).

This season had some growing pains, which I think were in large part because they had to start from scratch. S2 was just running on things built up through whole first season, but by the time Deathstroke landed in Supermax majority of plot lines, both current and flashback ones were wiped clean. But now that the pieces are in place I'm expecting greatness. For the last three weeks it has been the best thing on TV to me and I demand this to be continued.

Bwahahahahaha

Oliver is actually damn smart and it was drilled in very hard in S1. . He just didn't have much opportunities to show that off recently. At the very least, he makes Nolan's Batman look like utter fool. Season 1's Olie was calculating smart sociopath. In season 2 he was completely outmatched by Deathstroke. But let's not forget...he actually didn't beat up Slade straight up. He outsmarted the swag master

The only thing Oliver is dumb about is his emotional life. When it comes to murdering and destroying people dude's really smart.

Sarah died? In the first episode?! :( I loved her. They could have done it better than that!

Give him a goddamn mask! He wore it for one episode. I repeat: It makes NO SENSE for him to not have a mask on in the field. I repeat: It makes NO SENSE for him to not have a mask on in the field. I repeat: It's makes no...

....Apparently all the black people look alike in Starling....

I feel like Oliver was overly confidant that he could beat Ra's because the plot called for it. Here is a guy who he has never seen, let alone see fight and he thinks he can beat the head of this world class assassin group, when he could barely be Merlyn.

I honestly don't think he felt like he could beat Ras. I mean look at the way he was saying goodbye to everyone. I don't think he expected to come back.

Ollie did not fear death. He welcomed it. He thought it made him strong. It made him weak.
Come to think of it, this whole season Ollie has been scared shitless of death. Eversince Sarah's death he's been entertaining that idea and basically forfeiting on his real life so that his death wouldn't be so impactful. Funny that he actually dies in this season. It's been nicely set up eversince the "I don't want to end up on that table" line.

I think the lesson he will learn is that in trying to prevent ending up on the table he lived a life that would make it easier for him to end up there. Hopefully next season-ish we'll see more Oliver Queen as The Green Arrow, instead of The Green Arrow as Oliver Queen he's been trying to delude himself into playing.

Roy wallspin finally defeated.

Someone make a giant, infinite looping gif of Mc Hammerpants Thea

oF6VfDs.gif

Everything about this hurts my brain
What is she even trying to do with her wrists like that..
There is no power or strength whatsoever in that jump and that back-leg...

Parachute pants sillyness aside, I wouldn't be surprised if that jump was performed by a stuntwoman who knows really well how to handle that kind of stuff, tbh.

I liked that she hit Ollie a couple times to zero effect on him and that possibly world's slowest round house kick. That whole scene was pure Arrow non-sense, Roy would be proud.

that jump looks really feeble - and it's very clear that there is a mat right outside. If it is a stunt woman - it's not a good one imo.
Even though, just from training the amount of time Thea trained you wouldn't be a super charged parcours hero.

To me it made a lot of sense. Ollie just blocked her feeble attacks but he was still surprised that she even was able to fight on some way. That clearly shows on his face. I also like the fact that she quite obviously would have never had a chance in a real fight (Malcolm very obviously let her win in the sparring fight, too). Again, just a few training sessions are not going to make her a match for neither of them for a loooooooooooong time. would be much more non-sense if she actually would have fought better.

She was also only able to kill Sara because she had the full advantage of surprise. Otherwise she would have had her ass kicked to oblivion and back.
