Ollie may know some things about some thangs, but he is no Bruce Wayne and The Arrow is no Batman.

I still think the finale to last season was a major low point of the season. he didn't "outsmart" Deathstroke. Deathstroke was dumbed down and powered down so Ollie could win.
Much like Ollie was de-skilled for his fight with Ra's, and Thea became a cartoon character to challenge The Arrow before eventually jumping out the window to escape once she seen was was highly ineffective.

It didn't seem like Ollie was de-skilled for that fight to me. He was fighting out of his element and lost to a significantly superior opponent.

he was fighting like an amateur, swinging wildly and like he was fighting an opponent that was about a foot taller. Pressed for time or budget or not, I expect better choreographed fight scenes from this show.

He may have been tired from just scaling a mountain, but that wasn't suggested in the show. He fought like he was intentionally trying to lose, not like someone who was skilled but was being outmatched.

Charging screaming is not what I expect from someone who knows his kung fu.
He would still have his ass handed by Ra's Al Ghul, but he desplayed a vastly inferior skill to what he did in previous episodes

Is it really that hard to outsmart someone who listens to voices in their head? If anything Slade's arrogance is what Ollie played to, not being smarter than him.

To be fair Slade and Ollie were both fighting with handicaps. Slade with his talking to dead people/ general mirakuru craziness and Ollie with his no killing, there has to be another way Christ complex.

I just assumed that he was fatigued but it could have been made clearer. If it wasn't intentional then the fight was just badly choreographed and you'd expect better with this show for such an important fight.

Valid points. I didn't really notice if the choreography was bad. I got caught up in the moment: Ollie fatigued from climbing, in a weird emotional place because of the stakes. Plus, Ra's al Ghul kicking Ollie's ass was fun. Still though, Oliver does have a bit of a death wish and that probably factored into the fight as well. Maybe he's a Slayer...

Also, in addition to that, I found this opening, which is far more fitting.

And then this, which is just perfect.

I'm gonna start watching this season tonight but may as well ask about The Flash. Do I watch episode 1 of Flash before Arrow's season 3 episode 1 and then inverse? Does it matter?

The difference in outcome is amazing.

Well, TAS Batman is far more experienced than Olli. I think he is twice as old as him and has ten times the experience.

Also: Batman > Green Arrow in canon, I think.

CW's Ra's also seem to be a lot better fighter than the one in animated series

I don' think comicbook canon applies to Arrowerse. This Ra's could propably take on mirakured Deathstroke, while in comics Deathstroke would wipe the floor with Batman easily

Felicity could take on Deathstroke if the writers wanted. They're just making it all up as they go along anyways.

Ultimatelly yes, but you could say that about any story ever told. So far CWverse is a lot more consistent with their power levels than comics at least

His death wish is canon, right? He didn't want to die in the bunker, but dying protecting his sister on a fucking mountain? I can see Oliver wanting to go out that way. Which'll make him coming back fucked up.

The result would have been the same so why bother nitpicking the fight? Something can always be better, and we should know by now how inconsistent the show is.

Comic fights are kind of dumb, though. Batman has lost to Joker, Bane, etc while also holding his own in a skirmish with Darkseid and beating Superman. The consistency isn't there.

Batman has beaten Ra's quite a bit in straight combat, to the point where Ra's considers only Bruce to be worthy of succeeding him as ruler of the league.

In comic form, Oliver is kind of low-tier. Black Canary is meant to be a better fighter than Green Arrow.

So will
Oliver be of screen for awhile in the present but appear in flashbacks only ?
I hope so it really adds to the drama

From interviews it sounds like
the bulk of the next few episodes are going to be Starling City-heavy. I'm sure they'll cut away at some point to show what Ollie is up to, but it's now Roy's time to shine!

My guess is, yes. That gives the other, newer characters time to establish themselves

Man I Hope we get to see Barry's reaction to
Oliver's death

Confirmation of something already mentioned in the thread:
E!Online's Spoiler Room said:
Q: what's coming up for Arrow when we come off winter hiatus? Possibly for Felicity, Diggle or Roy.

A:How about all three? You know Oliver's huge death in the finale? Yeaaaah, expect that to stick as we're hearing the trio might go more than a few episodes without their hooded leader.

Sounds good. But I need two things
-See bits of Oliver, don't drag the 'is he really dead?" for multiple episodes
-I need to see Barry';s reaction to Oliver being dead and then his reaction to him coming back.
