Arrr! God of War pisses me off sometimes!

heh. That part and the rotating blade wall you must climb later are what people usually complain about, but I beat the game even on God Mode and had no issues with any parts. It was decently challenging at that difficulty, but it wasn't due to game design problems.

God for War is a piece of overrated shit that honestly deserves no place with any of the good games out there.
Shinobi for example, is a much better ps2 action game.

Yeah I can certainly see why it would give people problems. It's one of the more obvious bumps in the games challenges, where you can see people getting stuck. I died there on hard mode because I didn't think those harpies would keep coming for so long so I wasn't really doing my best to avoid the attacks. But then I had myself a sort of pattern the next time where I would run along to the little platforms and kill a few, then dash across and hop on the next and kill a few, etc... Of course, easier said than done.
But I've been trained on Devil May Cry 3 Dante Must Die modes, so other action games seem positively preschool by comparrison

Yeah man you were lucky. This game caused me to discipline one of my controllers (explosion followed). And that blade part wasn't even the worst for me. I had issues with pushing that guy in the cage up the slant and getting attacked by 4 enemies constantly.
That was fun.
It was still a decent game, but it had some really irritating areas and a freakin lame last boss battle.
I wish the game would have had more of what the whole Titan area offered. That was cool.

I agree, but I didn't see what was so frustrating with Hades. I think it more has to do with the game being so easy (in terms of platforming/puzzles) that when they finally presented a platforming puzzle that was slightly hard it took most by surprise and it was difficult to adjust to it.

It was basically Final Fight in a Greek setting with some lame environmental puzzles. It was fun to mash through once just to look at the pretty graphics -- ala Final Fight back in '91 -- but it became trade-in fodder post-haste after that.

Ah yes, I remember that. Yeah, that was a little annoying. They just kept coming at such a pace where I would inevitably end up hit a bit, and then the cage would sliiiiiiide back down. But I got the hang of it fairly quick, after I learned the flow.

Yeah, I love God of War. There's no use defending it, because obviously those that don't like it have perfectly reasonable complaints. They just didn't effect me, because I viewed the game as a sort of rollercoaster ride filled with crazy holy shit moments. Which suited my expectations well. The battle system also was really simple and easy to get into, which didn't bother me.

God of War is like a popcorn movie -- you're just supposed to have fun in the environment doing cool moves and kicking ass, not really thinking too much about demanding button combos and such. It excels at what it's meant to do, and it's really not supposed to be an answer to a DMC type of game.

I wouldn't say I hated it, but when I started thinking about what I really wanted to say, I realized I couldn't even remember the game. I just have this lingering sensation that it wasn't as good as everyone said it would be. I think I only made it half way through before I sold it and used the $$ to take my little lady out to dinner. Or I bought Indigo Prophecy. One or the other.
