Ubisoft jus posted a new video about AC Mirage

This looks so good, Valhalla was the biggest pile of shit ever with an AC label , hell Eivor is not even an assassin!

Enough of the RPG and overblown gigantic world filled with pointless things to do.

Cant wait to play this!

As someone who had no interest in the last three entries, this is great news.

The trailer they showed was great. This might be a day one for me depending on other releases. Plus it's only $50.

"We looked at the core of the franchise for inspiration and what worked"

Video lists the following:

I. Parkour
II. Stealth
III. Assassinations(includes features from Unity like investigations, multiple options of access, and multiple options of assassination)

If they pull this off, pre-Origins AC fans are in for a treat.

it's so weird listening to these guys enthusiastically describing, one after another, the marvelous game mechanics of this game, which just happen to be the exact same game mechanics of all the games of the original series...

They are saying all the right things, im dying for an old style ac game. I replayed the ezio trilogy last year and had a fucking blast

"A Return to Roots"

They said the same for Valhalla.

But we'll see, hopefully this one will be good in the spirit of Altair and Ezio games.

Is a miracle they wanting the game back to the name inself because is very silly they just using the name of the franchise for sell to you a game that had nothing to do with the series at all.

AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations was the golden era of AC. The story, music and the settings were fantastic. I still get shivers from watching the last cut-scene of Revelations.

Game is looking great, I like that they've returned to the close up camera on the character, something which has been missing in recent AC titles due to their RPG nature.

I loved Ezio's trilogy so I'm super stoked to play this.

I loved the Ezio's trilogy too. But I would be a liar to say that I did not enjoy Origins or Odyssey. I loved the setting both of those games, I just think they were a tad bloated and a bit to RPGish. Valhalla is pretty good too, I just think the future titles need to tone down on the RPG aspect a tad and the bloat and it'd be perfect.

A 5 minutes video basically explaining they are making a Ps3 game.
But I guess I can see why fans of the older games are hyped.

I love Egyptian settings and I dropped Oriigns very early on.

I remember you fight this tutorial boss and the boss had a spiked mace thing. Once killed it dropped this lame ass loot rarity bullshit mace.

Noped the fuck out of that trash.

Me too. The Egyptian setting was amazing. But gameplay and the grinding was really bad.

So they've taken the best parts of 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3 and Black Flag? And focusing the game back onto the Creed and assassinations style from 1? ...It sounds good but I'll wait to hear reviews.

lmao.

I was looking forward to it, as a modern creative take on the original formula... but it seems like going back to the roots here means ctrl+c ctrl+v of mechanics that were fresh in 2007 with no innovation in sight.

Yeah, it doesn't look bad or anything, but it's weird to market a game by telling people it's just a normal game. Sounds like the premice is to make an average game that doesn't stand out in any way.

If people want their classic AC game i guess that's fine, but you can see it was supposed to be a DLC.

Funny you say that, I was an "early AC purist" about 2 years ago, but just out of pure boredom I gave AC Odyssey a shot and I ended up loving it. I've clocked over 150 hours on it as well lol in some ways I feel guilty but man it is a fun game!

You're right though, I think they need to strike a balance in future titles, and try incorporating what's great about the early AC games into a more "modest" AC RPG world.

I'll play it but i'm not that keen to go back to the old formular.
The whole point of them rebooting the series with Origins into a more Witcher 3 style open world RPG was because sales were falling for the old AC games, and the sales for Origins, and especially Odyssey and Valhalla, have been huge, better than they every have been.

Also Ubisoft literlaly have about 5 AC games in active developemnt, including the next mainline RPG style game.

exactly. it's just bizarre. i'm definitely looking forward to the game, but the overall tone of the video is so 'remember all those other games we made? well, we are making a new game that's basically identical to them!'...

I'm one of the weird ones who likes both the old and new styles. I loved the Ezio trilogy, and also loved Origins and Odyssey. This does look great though, and I'm definitely liking the more dense world which was mostly missing from Odyssey.

Speaking of Unity. You would think these consoles have enough power to make that engine they used with the lighting, shine. Wonder why they don't return to that.

AC's roots were never good to begin with. At least it can't be worse than the bloated mess that these games have become.

It's funny that people are so hyped about this considering Origins and Odyssey are a result of people being tired of the old stale formula.

I'm a big AC fan so I'm sure I'll eventually play this.

But I hope they don't abandon the big open-worlds forever. I'd love to see one set during the height of the Roman Empire and especially one in England during the High Middle Ages (although Valhalla may be too close to that for it to happen). Robin Hood/Sherwood Forest, anyone?

They have around 5 AC games in development. They laid out their AC strategy about a year ago. They have that AC Infinity game, which i think is some online based game, they have spin offs (which i assume this comes under as it started as dlc for Valhalla), and they have the main RPG games in development.

Sales for Odyssy and Valhalla were huge, no way will they stop making them.

I guess this one is more stealth based so you don't fight a lot.

Also, tsushima combat system while not perfect was eons better than anything inside any ac game.
True. I guess I have rose tinted glasses. But personally I just did like that type of dodgy combat back in the day.

But you raise a good point. I don't feel like we've even really seen combat. That's what makes me hesitant.

Did you not watch the video?

Yes. They named dropped Ezio because that's the most popular assassin. Gameplay speaks for itself. Parkour looks very similar to Unity. Building scale looks like it's 1:1 with real thing, again like in Unity. Single city as your playground. Investigations. Multiple approach angles. I'm hyped.
