Anybody else missing the Secrets of the first Pyramids DLC? I got the Gold Edition but no code.
Contacted Ubi and was told it was only available through digital pre-order or directly from the Ubishop?

My pre-order copy from amazon.ca had it so that last bit isn't true.

So.. I had to think about it.. and the only gripe I have with this game is the fact we can't loot costumes.

That amazing black hound costume we get early on... I'm okay with using that for the entire game so far. It looks so good and I don't see the need to spend 2000 to get lesser cool looking costumes.

Unless the game has some better ones in future. Apart from that. Love the game.

Because of the current AC hype, I've just started AC Syndicate for the first time (bought it a while ago, but never found the time to play it...).

I've been playing for about 3 hours, and I'm already bored to death. Right now I have to 'conquer' boroughs by doing very boring, repetitive tasks like following someone, abduct someone, etc. It feels more like doing chores than having fun.
And the most obnoxious thing of all is that you have to watch out for those red enemies all the fucking time, so you just can't casually walk through the city to enjoy the scenery.

Argh!

Is Origins anything like that, or has it more meaningful gameplay elements?

OK, I'm playing with minimal HUD and think I missed something. Why are some guards attacking me just walking round Siwa? Is it like Syndicate where they attack on sight? It's annoying as it's not always but I'm not sure if it's area related or they just haven't seen me. My own fault for going straight to minimal HUD and missing all the tips I guess.

In the meantime, loving it so far. Looks incredible. Some Gifs:

So beat the game last night.. I'd probably say a solid 7.5 for me. The gameplay was actually quite refreshing and fit the setting very nicely. The story though was a little more of a let down for me.

Continued in Spoilers:

With Aya seeming to be the "real" first assassin, seems weird in retrospec playing as Bayek. Especially given this is brought up to be the "Origins of the Assassins".
Which is technically was, you weren't really the reason for it, you were kind of just along for the ride kind of thing.

Also big things like the hidden blade and the leap of faith were just quickly glossed over in a minute with no history or backstory at all. These are HUGE things in the Assassins lore!
And the missing finger. Really? Why did the lady at the end need to cut of her finger?
To show her dedication? Even Bayak seemed reluctant. Even more so knowing,
as a player, the Assassins eventually stop doing it.

Really the last 1-2hrs were my favorite story-wise. I just wish they multiplied it throughout the story more.

I sitll got maybe 15ish side quests left to do plus the Area and Racing so looking forward to that and the DLC in January!

It's different, it has more of a witcher 3 vibes to the open-world and everything around it than Syndicate, I didn't like Unity and hated Syndicate, didn't bother to finish either, Origins keeps my in the game. My suggestion don't waste your time on Syndicate, to make long story short, it's a big meh.

You did miss something. Bayek is an enemy of the state in that area, if you wander around in his default Medjay gear on the main roads expect to be bothered. As soon as you change your clothes to something less conspicuous, they should stop harassing you.

Somewhat, but it feels better because of the loot, and in my opinion the side quests and activities are better written and higher quality than we're used to, I think. the setting makes it fresh as well but the game has a neat vibe of Tomb Raider, BotW, and TW3 at different times. This is my favorite AC behind Black Flag and it may surpass it if it doesn't lose momentum due to excessive side activities like BF did later in the game.

Great - thanks. And DOH! So I'm using like the Altair outfits etc. at the moment, is the Bayek outfit good enough?

Wow - I have played for around 4 hours in the game's opening area, and I am really enjoying the leveling system - with separate leveling for abilities, gear and crafting.

There is such a difference between having to go on a bunch of mindless quests just to unlock an area (like in the past few AC games) versus having choices to go after specific activities that will help you improve specific parts of your character.

Confirmed that the Backstore (better items in shop) skill gives you the ability to purchase legendary mounts from mount vendors. In case anyone was wondering.

My Bayek is level 39. Nearing the end, got 2 marks to kill that showed up. Fantastic game, fav AC game by far. 45 hours spent.

I might actually buy this game's DLC.

Yes, I agree the hidden blade should have been a much bigger deal, not just something Aya hands you and says, hey let's use this. And yeah, the leap of faith, I hadn't thought of that, but you're right. We should have had a cutscenes where they had to jump or something. I also agree with your points on Aya. We did play as her at times, but only at times. The game is basically 85% Bayak, 10% Aya and 5% Layla.

As for the finger though, in the first AC, Atleir has to cut his off and is told all assasins have to do that. In 2, Ezio is given a special modified blade so they no longer need to cut off his finger. So they did a good job giving us the back story on that part.

Are you talking about the one from the "play"? The Sekhmet costume? Just curious cause I'm not far in the game and what early outfit you were talking about as the closest name match would be the black hood costume which from what I can gather is rather late game.

I think while Aya is a natural general and assassins, Bayek was the one who realised the ideology of the Assassin Brotherhood during his adventure (prevent the Order from taking free will away from the people, maintain the secret of Pieces of Eden, work in the dark to serve a greater purpose)

Haven't been this taken by a game world since witcher 3, and before that skyrim. Lots to explore and it looks amazing.
Oh, for sure. I mean, it's definitely not on the same level as The Witcher 3 in terms of side-content quality wise but that's not to say it isn't good. The side content is arguably the best in any AC game so far and is certainly expansive; tons to do. I'm about 27 hours in, and I don't think I'm half way through the story, so they've definitely upped their game from Unity and Syndicate. I'm preferring this title to Black Flag as well.

The formula here just really works for AC and I hope they continue to refine it. Wonder if we'll see another AC game as soon as next year since that team would also have had another year to work on their game.

That's what I wonder about these games and their development. How do they anticipate audience feedback and know whether to develop a sequel with a character in such a short space of time? Imagine if they had made Unity and had a team already developing another game with Arno. I'm just curious on that.

I think Ashraf has good creative vision for this series. He adds minor details across the game that actually make a large difference to previous entries.

On topic:

I'm liking this game alot I am immersed beyond hope, love the combat, not loving the level gate. A dark souls method would have been a better go or at least make sneak attacks a lot more powerful to compensate..but I'll get used to it.

Just trying to level up with sidequests so I can stomp a mudhole in everything with ease!

Any other quests open up after you beat the game? I still have 2 marks to kill before I think the game ends, just wondering if something opens up.

I've been to every region.

Just got to
Alexandria
. This game just keeps getting better. How awesome is this world! Having such a huge interest in this period of time, I find myself being almost overwhelmed with everything. Their is a huge amount of details here. Good job Ubisoft, greatest game off all time for me. So glad I bought the Gods edition.

OK one thing I wish it would have is more interesting cave/crypt/tomb exploration. So far it just seems that you find ruins or a cave and you press V and open the treasure. There's no puzzles or any sort of complexity to it. Maybe some simple Tomb Raider-lite puzzles in a few of these things would be appropriate. The setting certainly lends to it.

Really enjoying the game quite a bit.

Same here, as an archeologist and lover of the Hellenistic Age I am overwhelmed -in a positive way of course- by the amount of details and care put into the production of this game. Just one thing I didn't like, is the fact that not all statues are painted, as they were supposed to be in that period. The world of that age was a colourful one, pretty distant from the neoclassic ideal of the cold perfection of white marble... But that doesn't compromise the enthusiastic feeling I get everytime I start the game and start walking around.

And level 40, killed all the phylakes! Working on coliseum now. Looks like the first trial is up. 6 days to do it, pretty tough, but managed to do it. Got a legendary level 40 sword called Conductor of Souls. Anyone noticing a graphic drowngrade on PS4? Textures took a hit in quality, so did draw distance, and am seeing way more pop ins than usual. WTF are you doing Ubisoft? Roll back a patch, 1.04 messed it up.

i just finished the game and i have a question

Does anything else happen in the modern day after the leader of the Asssassins tells you to go back in the Animus and that a helicopter will be arriving to pick them up in 1 hour?

I could be remembering wrong but ...
Didn't Bayak use the hidden blade fine up until the battle with the boss where he tried to stab him and got his finger cut off?
Aya uses the hidden blade fine without losing her finger. In the end i think it's just a Ubisoft story / oh well thing. I'm just more hung up on it as this was supposed to bea
huge "origin" story of the assassins so I was expecting (read: hoping) for a pretty heavy-ish lore story to accompany the pretty fun gameplay.

1.04 messed up the game in different ways on PS4, specially they downgraded the graphics. I can notice it big time.

So much has been said here already... just saying I love the game.

I have played all Assassin's Creed games except ROGUE i believe (it was released at same time as Unity I think so I missed it and didn't want to play it after Unity anyway, I was tired of this 'period' which was too similar to AC3, Aveline, close to Black Flag too..).

So this fresh air with Origins is really appreciated and I love it too. A good direction for the series indeed and hopefully they can polish the next game even more (less bugs, AI, dialog transitions between cinematics and actual gameplay...).
