Assassins Creed Valhalla - NEW GAMEPLAY - is this a day one purchase?

Pass for me.

I feel like AC is not for me personally anymore. I get that some people like what it has become, but I'm not one of them, and unless they starting caring about quality and stop their absolutely ridiculous history revision, I don't think I'll be going back.

Having multiple weapons does not excuse bad/below average animations.

Yes it does. I excuse Dark Souls having a stab animation with a scythe for it's back stab for example. But you don't have to excuse them. We can agree to disagree. Sekiro has much better animations than Dark souls but I would play Dark Souls for 1k hours over my 30 or so on Sekiro. Different strokes, excuse the pun. Btw, in the actual combat videos Valhalla looks fine in the animation department. People are judging it over Game Radars terrible choppy video.

Is AC a yearly release? Maybe Ubisoft should give the game a break to allow devs to modernize the gameplay.

No they haven't kept it on a yearly schedule in a while, Origins and Odyssey launched back to back but that wasn't originally how it was supposed to go it just worked out that way. We haven't had a new AC game since 2018.

Weird animation skipping and/or bugged framerates, facial animations are almost Mass Effect Andromeda levels of bad. Why would anyone want to play this over something like Witcher 3?

I've come to the conclusion that no game will ever be day 1 again, for me.. 3d games have been excellent for 20 years now, there is 20 years of great, cheap content out there.. yeah.

I think it looks painfully average and that female character looks fucking awful. I swear game developers just don't understand women. In their tiny minds, strong woman = make her a man.
They are scared that if they make female characters too pretty that Anita Sarkeesian and her followers start to complain about them, or that trans people will feel offended.

Even by Ubisoft`s standards this looks seriously rough and unpolished.
The animation work, especially weapon impact and animation transition is just bad...really bad.
Is it too much to ask for characters not to slide around like iceskaters when playing an animation in 2020?

Video on OP seems to be missing a lot of frames. I understand presentations were remotely done, so this might be a reason why
This one looks better, even though still low resolution video:

no matter how you cut it though, after ancient Egypt and ancient Greece, this locale and setting will most probably be not as good

Agreed with the setting. The drab colors in these environments don't help. That said, I'll probably be a day 1 buyer. I've played and beat just about all of the AC games outside of Revelations, Unity, and the PSP ports and off shoot games. I'm willing to give the dev team the benefit of the doubt since Origins and Odyssey were solid titles (Odyssey being a top 3 AC game for me).

The only game that I could purchase day one from Ubi....it's Splinter Cell.
Anything else can wait.

PD: What's wrong with Ubi and its facial animations, worst in industry

Look as bad/good as Odyssey did just with a VIking aesthetic. I'll probably pick up the next-gen Ultimate edition with when it's around $40 or so.

"again"? Are you telling me it got rebooted before?

My wife who has platinumed the last two games is hesitant to play Valhalla. I think this might change once Ubisoft shows the game running on PS5.

It's an Epic Game Store exclusive. That's a hard pass for me. I went to PC and started using Steam so I would have all of my stuff in one place. Now EGS is coming along and getting exclusivity deals with major titles. The result is that the developers lose my sale. I didn't buy Red Dead Redemption 2 because my interest in it wore off before its exclusivity ended. The same will probably happen with Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.

I'll probably pick it up once it's cheap. Odyssey was flawed but fun and this looks like more of the same with a Vikings skin.

I have no idea why this isn't 60fps on next gen consoles though. I don't see any major visual improvements over odyssey and that one was already running at dynamic res of up to native 4K on xbox 1 X. Some sort of 1440 or even 1800p 60fps mode should be very doable.

This looks to be in an embarassing shape, not a good idea to show it off.

I honestly have no idea how they manage to create something of such low quality with a team and budget this massive.

Damn that looks bad.

And man Ubi is so brave only using the female char .. ugh..

worse than Ubisoft are the bugmen who ALL pick the female to use...
It's either they are lonely men who want to get leering angles on the female avatar OR they think by publicly doing a play through with the female, somehow SJW's will leave them be.

Enjoyed origins and got 20 hours into Odyssey beta testing stadia, they are a good time. This is in line with any cross gen launch game I have played in the past regarding graphical updates so no surprise. Probably will get it to have a next gen game at launch. I went with black flag and need for speed when the X1 launched and got many hours out of them. Will probably do the same but with dirt instead of NFS.

Taking some tips from 343i probably lol

Been having a blast with odyssey for the last few days so this has my interest. Though it's hard to understand how this looks like shit compared to odyssey on pc which is absolutely gorgeous.

Everyone i know who liked the last two games said the world was to big and to much content in general. i dont get it ubisfoft. Just make the world 50% and amp up the quality. Nobody wants to play this game 80+ hours just to see the main story and the good sidequests. make it a 40 hour game with no filler. The potential is REAL!

No thanks, you can finish Odyssey in 40 hours if you just follow the main story. I'd rather have the choice to play the main quest only and do whatever else content I want to, up to 100+ hours, instead of being forced into a smaller world

I get ur point IF the side content wasnt so much of repetetive grind. I mean there a good sidequests, but i felt like 50% of them could have been dropped and i wouldnt miss it. And 50% of the world would still be a big world.

I don't notice that stuff because I only do sidequests to keep up my level for the main story in all games or I just burnout these days.

I've heard people of putting 150 to 300 hours into odyssey so I don't see why they'd take that away for that kind of people but I get your point as well

If you saw gameplay of one AssCreed game, you´ve seen them all, ill pick it up in 3 or 4 Years when the complete Version is down to a reasonable price like 15 bucks, just like the last 4 Games.
