Atlus: y'all motherfuckers want Persona 5 on Switch? just keep on begging lolz

JokerMM

Gay porn is where it's at.
“You want what you want,” she explained, “and if you don't let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.” Advincula said Atlus is listening and does see the desire for Persona 5 on Switch, saying “it’s important to always voice your opinion.”

encouraged fans to “keep telling us what you want,” saying she was fighting for it internally as well. However, it’s important to point out that she also said she’s obviously “not the decision-maker” in a situation like this despite being an “internal champion” for it, so this shouldn’t be taken as an indication of what is happening or could happen down the line.

honestly? this company can go get fucked for all i care

Maybe the annoying port beggars should tone it down? I haven't seen anything more annoying this generation than the people begging for Switch ports

But yeah, Atlus doesn't seem they want the profit they'll get from Switch porting

How much would it realistically cost to port this to the switch. Wouldn't the first 10,000 or so copies pay for it? I don't know the real numbers, so based on my assumptions alone, they sound like fucking morons for not having done it already.

It's very frustrating with Nintendo fans at the moment and asking for ports or accepting ports for full price. I'm sure people will quote me and say "what's wrong with having the option" Nothing, but these ports happen on other consoles all the time without the same fanfair and with better pricing.

What? People are upset at THAT response?

It's the honest one; fuck yeah she wants it, but if she wants to keep her job, she isn't going to go ape shit online saying "FUCK YEAH RIGHT NOW ATLUS FUCK YOU!"

Not only that, but she ISN'T the decision maker

Atlus get fucked? She's literally telling you business talk that the people above her are willing to do it, but want enough evidence of a consumer base to WARRANT doing it

Businesses don't have unlimited amounts of money, and spending money willy nilly on something they don't have hard evidence on to back as a financial decision is completely sound and smart

Atlus isn't Google.

You're overreacting, and that's a bit silly.

1: Atlus (or any developer) does not have an obligation to release any game on any platform. It's not some sort of requirement to publish everything on Switch.
2: Much more importantly, Ari Advincula is not in any shape or form in a position to give any relevant comment on this. As a newly-hired western PR, she can either give a "no comment" or fluff like this, because ports are MUCH above her paygrade and she can't take liberties to make announcements anyway. If her response annoys you, you should be annoyed with IGN, that knowingly asked the question to someone who obviously can't give any other answer than this, and then posted it like it was relevant news.

Going to be honest one of the main reason I don't buy 3rd party games on switch. Why buy a more expensive inferior version of an old game?

Not exactly. She's telling you "it's not my position to answer this kind of question, so keep asking, and maybe the people above will do something. Please don't ask me because this is much above my paygrade. Thanks."

Atlus is getting on my nerves, where's SMT V? I have a switch for many games in particular. but I would really like SMT V right about now (holding out for possibly next year)

Atlus doesn't really care what anyone other then Atlus thinks though. They ignore PC and usually only release their games on one system.

Not at all. Absolutely no part of her message implies "the people above her are willing to do it." It's not her position to imply that, and she very likely does not know.
No
But let's think of ANY company on the planet
If it'll make them money, they'll do it
That message is always implied in any business-ese

I'd send you Crystal Pepsi if I could

Not really. Making them money isn't necessarily the only issue. Of course, porting ANY game to ANY relevant platforms would make Sega/Atlus money. Yet, Atlus has remained largely single platform, because that's how they work. They would normally rather focus oll their resources on something at least partly new instead of using them for ports. This has been historically their attitude, and Ari isn't implying that they're willing to change it.

It’s really weird, it’s as if Atlus doesn’t want more money. They aren’t under any contractual agreement to not put it on any other system right? They are sort of like the opposite of SquareEnix lately.

All of these games should be multi-platform. No more SMT being Nintendo-only, or Persona being PS-only. Great games deserve a big audience.

Not really sure how this is a terrible response? It seems pretty honest to me. Atlus has always just released their games on a single platform. I don't really expect this to change. Though if Catherine Full Body is making it's way over then maybe it's possible? Persona is on a whole other level then Catherine though.

Yeah, agreed. I get people like the Switch, and want games they enjoy on it but Jesus shut the fuck up. It's constant. Port beggars can "get fucked" not Atlus.

still dont get the hype for those games. they look boring af to me
It's one of those rare mythical "yes, it's JRPGs, but doesn't actually suck" titles.

Everybody knows that JRPGs tend to objectively, measurably and factually suck. This is a well known fact.
P5 usually comes up in discussions about JRPGs, that are exceptions to the rule - or at least have something to offer.

That puts it on radar.

That's not really true.

The first Shin Megami Tensei game was released on multiple platforms from the 90s onwards; Super Famicom, SEGA CD, PC Engine, PlayStation, Game Boy Advance, iOS, Android.

Shin Megami Tensei II was also a game released on many systems. But all that changed with the subsequent titles, as well as the Persona games, which mainline entries remain PlayStation-only efforts.

On one hand, I think P5 would be a beautiful fit for the Switch. On the other, well, I guess that’s it really

I could see it doing very well on Switch
The issue is. 3 rd party games do not sell on the switch. Literally. It’s Mario, Zelda, and Nintendo first party selling millions. With 3rd party games barely scratching a million

But if that would be the case, why give Switch gamers a spin-off title, that's supposed to be a sequel to the game a lot of owners actually want?

Alright bud

Though, speaking on inner workings of the software developer business; you're a journalist, right?
Have you ever happened to have sat in a meeting for product strategy and development for software with execs by chance?

No. But I've talked with enough executives to know that "it's gonna make us money" isn't necessarily the only thing they think about. More importantly, I've talked with enough Japanese executives to know that that factor is even less relevant to them in the grand scheme of things, taking a backseat to stuff like "this is how we do things here" and "we have an obligation to that hardware manufacturer since they supported us."

WE WANT ATLUS GAMES ON ALL CONSOLES AND PC.

Pretty sure we have been repeating this for a decade though, I wonder if they are really listening. Even Falcom is managing to do a better job at this lol.

At least, we are getting games in Europe now so they did listen to this.

We were also asking for Catherine on Vita in English, and it was quite a huge demand on Twitter, they completely ignored it. Atlus...
