Story or gameplay? Because the events that took place in MGS3 were awesome. Gameplay...not so much.

I didn't like the gameplay in MGS3. The new camera in Subsistence changed that though.

I was thinking that there are guys who are breathing just to spoil the MGS4 story.
I mean, honestly MGS4 is big and besides it's the final chapter of the series. Thus I think that there are malicious people who have registered at gaf months ago (or years) & are waiting for this very moment: a few days before the release of MGS4 they will unleash their spoilerific posts!.....
I think it is very likely to happen.
Even if the strategy guide was set for release after MGS4, there are still many people who will get this game before June the 12th & of course unleash their spoilerific madness around the net......

I know I won't come on gaf as often as normal a week or so before the game comes out, but I would be super pissed if I came on during that time right at the moment someone posted a thread entitled something like

I do not see much of a problem, just do not buy it and avoid message boards or avoid message boards that are not heavily modded. I for one is buying the guide, just to have everything MGS4, but I know i can prevent myself from opening it.

Oh is anyone going to go to the launch party in NYC? My friend texted me and said it will be at Virgin store in Manhattan and Kojima will be there.

That would be cool. Infact as a pre-emptive decision, before I go on either off-topic, or gaming, I will see which mods are on. If there are around 2 or more, then I would feel that it's safe to browse, trying not to refresh gaming too often, maybe once every 15mins or so.

Ye, if you go to a store at the launch this might actually be a good idea, seriously. I dunno how big of a chance that there are people who will scream out spoilers though, but still, better safe than sorry

For the internet maybe eyemuffs or something are the thing to use before the launch of MGS4 to avoid spoilers hehe.

Concealed game modes, button combos? Sounds like a step up over the relatively paltry amount of extras offered in MGS3.

Hate to say it, but I saw an "Official MGS4 Guide" at my local Ingles of all places about 2 weeks ago. I was combing the soup isle and happened to glace at the mag rack down on the end and saw Snake staring back at me. I read the title and literally dropped ship and left the store. I'm not sure if it was legit, but it scared the hell out of me...

I'm really glad MGS3 was as bad as it was because I'm not worried about anything at all for MGS4.

MGS3 is the best MGS and one of the best games ever made. :O

The worst part about going into Gamestop is when the employees there have taken all of the pages from the magazine and pasted them up all over the store so that when you walk in you're assaulted with the truth about the little monkey in MGS4.

Uhh...I have that "Official MGS4 Guide", which was done by the Official PlayStation Magazine and it's really just a more like a primer to the world of Metal Gear Solid. There're a few interviews with Kojima, but for the most part it just had old screens from the MGS4 trailers and little bios on the known characters from the previous games and stuff. I've pretty much stayed as spoiler-free as possible, and this guide is pretty harmless for those looking to stay as spoiler-free as they can.

Loved the cover to it - it matches my Edge one quite nicely (despite all of the stupid text)

It's times like these I am glad I don't have much experience with the MGS series. Someone could probably tell me every MGS4 spoiler, and I wouldn't know what the hell is going on!

I shouldn't have bought the damn 40gig PS3; I want to play the earlier MGS games before MGS4, but I don't want to have to buy a damn PS2 just to do it!!!
