Audiosurf on Steam NOW! Feel the waves.

E6600, 2GB RAM, 7900GT 256MB and I'm running 1680x1050 w/ 8X FSAA @ 60fps. Absolutely wonderful.

If anyone has bandwidth to spare I uploaded a way too high quality 720p recording of Trip Like I Do by The Crystal Method to Stage6. I thought it would do some magics to make it more streamable, apparently not.

Just played the demo with a few songs, this game is awesome, gonna buy it definitely.

On some of the faster songs i tried, i could barely keep up, it was moving so fast.

Check it for what? And uhh...where can a moron like me check it?
 
Well, the hosts file thing... did you use any workarounds to get the beta to last longer? If so, your host file is likely to be changed, redirecting the Audiosurf URL and IP address elsewhere. It's a windows system thing, so I'll probly get something a bit wrong if I explain. If you haven't done any cheats to play it before it's out, ignore the host file malarkey.

If you used one, the work around patches for the beta to play their own song longer altered your hosts file which uh, sorta fucks shit up if you actually want to go to their website or something.

The hosts file is in [Windows Drive]:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc IIRC. Open it up with notepad or something and check if http://www.audio-surf.com is in there. If it is, delete that whole line, IP and all.


Also ZOMGZOMG Triumphant by Royksopp is AWESOME.

Ah shizzle. I tried doing that and it didn't work for me so I forgot about it. I went back and deleted that stuff. Foiled by impatience. Now I can login! Thanks for the reminder.

Wow, glad I didn't buy it now you've mentioned those performance issues. I'm on a terrible card and processor but the beta ran. I guess they broke something with all those updates.
 
Runs well on my 2600XP, 2 gig ram, 5900XT. Gonna put it on my laptop later tonight so I can crank up the visuals (I had on 1024x758 medium detail.)

Pretty damn awesome game.
 
there should be a demo soon, you'll be able to try it out then.

my computer isn't that good. athlon 3500+ / 1 gig of ram / weak 25 dollar gfx card.
 
Yay fixed my sound. My mp3 driver or something was fucked but now the world is a better place with working sound.

Pretty neat game. How does it do the leaderboards? Do other people have to have their mp3 with 100% identical filename? Or does it search the database going off the content of the song?

I got a score of 82k, which I thought was alright, though I'm sure I'll find an e-mail saying I've been beaten in my inbox tomorrow unless everyone uses another ID3 tag :P.

Identical, but they are working on merging similar tags together.

I just noticed that there's a way to report scores for having a different track form than what the song should have, so they'll probably try to match similar tags with the same track form. Neat!

I tried the demo out. I was using a touchpad on a celeron lappy, but...it was fun as hell. Stronger was very nice. I got happy when i hit 30k plus, then I saw the leaderboards. :lol

I remember now. I tried altering the host files for that demo. I don't really remember how to change them back. Where exactly is it?

Updates to Audiosurf have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

-Refreshes track graphics after a minimize

-Spotlight finish now requires an elite character

-Performance improvements

I was wondering why I suddenly had to download more content. And why I'd gotten Spotlight Finish already.

See, I played the album version (from the Gamer's Guide To Rez), and it was having such a hard time reading the tempo that it was jerking all over the place. Which was a cool challenge and all, but...

The extended version of Organ Donor, by DJ Shadow, is also quite awesome.
 
Hah they just updated the game to fix some graphical thing and to fix an achievement. The Spotlight Finish. Supposed to be elite only but I guess you could have gotten it with casual before they fixed it. I feel bad I have the achievement now...
 
This game is so good. Proudly holding the record on a Killers song. YEAH I SAID IT.


Everytime I go to listen to music now, I'm like "ah what the hell, may as well audiosurf it".

I tried to audiosurf the wiik-in-review, but it said it was too long lol

Im willing to bet using other vehicle types will net you a higher score. The mono seems to be the safest but with the lowest returns.

They should split the leaderboards by types of vehicle.
