Yeah what’s crazy old Vook doing with Sony news but word on the wire is that the PS2 is getting a price drop REALLY soon. Now here is the real doozy we’re talking a drop to about $99-$129 from a RRP of $199 at the moment. I haven’t got the confirmed final price yet, but EB are hoarding them (they also have a new box which you might have seen).

So if you’re thinking of picking one up it may be worth it to wait.

For reference Aussie prices for other things to put into comparision;

Not surprising, Sony has a history of PS2 cuts for June/July.

They'll need to do it as well to combat the combined DS/Wii front this Toy Catalogue Season

I would probably pick up a slim for that price. My only current PS2 is a modded phat that I don't even use because it takes up too much space with my other consoles.

Wow, that'd be awesome, I recently bought a 40gb PS3 (and got the $100 gift card for walmart) and I'm going to put that toward a PS2, I'll wait a little longer and see if the price drops.

It ranges from "reasonably difficult" to "actually quite fucking hard" depending on where you look.

I found the CE of SoTC in a bargin bin in Target for $29. Bargain.

I sold it for $50 the next day.

BC in the PS3 was what stopped me from buying a PS2. Now that that's out, there's really no reason not to get one, unless..

High. My guess is the biggest obstacle for this may end up outside of Sony - ie. retailers and the fact that PS2 is still a highly active platform

It's the slim. It's redesigned too, so the power supply is in the console itself.

I still have my original PS2, but if Sony would just drop the price of the PSP I would snap one up in no time. Perhaps they will later this year, now that Crisis Core is dropping.
