I'm fucking done with animated Marvel shows.
Looks like DC's reign on the animation throne will continue into the 2010's. Just insane that someone would take over a critically praised show in its second season and completely change the format. Ridiculous, really.
Uh didn't the last season of JLU become, for the most part stand-alone episodes?
The thing is though that the show writers didn't change(to my knowledge anyways, McDuffie was always always at the forefront.) From what I can gather from the interview I posted on the last page or so it doesn't seem like Christopher Yost is going to be involved in the new series. Hopefully I'm wrong though and Loeb doesn't apply "If it's not broke then let's fix it." philosophy to the show.
Dude... come ON. Let's not get carried away here. Marvel's made WAY worse. USM isn't nearly as bad you're demonizing it.
I don't get how JUST because the show having stand alone plots make it awful. Okay, I get that Loeb has some poor, loathed writing under his belt IN COMICS and the idea of him WRITING TV shows is very undesirable. But why the hell are stand alone stories so bad, exactly? There have been lots of great episodes that are practically stand alone. Hell I LOVE the first two seasons of Justice League and those were stand alone stories. BTAS and STAS were also pretty much stand alone save for a couple of minor plot points and ground work. Brave and the Bold is stand alone too (aside from maybe the Starro story being gradually introduced)
I mean hate Loeb all you want, I don't care. But associating him with stand alone stories and that being a BAD thing is really idiotic and terrible.
Yeah, going from the great animation of USM's Iron Fist fighting Taskmaster, EMH's Iron Fist was really subpar. Where he just did a couple fancy punches and fancy dodges.
Don't get me wrong, I'm talking SPECIFICALLY Animation-wise. I really much preferred EMH's Rand and Cage over USM as characters.
He's done after 13 episodes, then loeb takes overUSM might have solid production value but its a dumb show, its clear marvel/disney is making shows for the kids, the next generation get em hooked now. The only problem with that is a lot of kids shows that endure are on a level beyond the target audience, so if its for teens its more adultm or about kids struggling thru becoming adults, for kids its more teen/young adult level material. Why? because kids wanna be like those that come before them. When i was 9 i wanted to be like the TEENAGE mutant ninja turtles, GI Joe, The thundercats, Transformers, Voltron Force, etc etc. Now these werent adult or even teenage shows but the characters WERE older than me and i loved it, i wanted to GROW UP and be like them in my 9 year old mind. Because on the shows though it was still Lionel vs Mumrah or Teenage Turtles vs Beebop and Rocksteady they developed the characters as kids that were growing up. Heck just look at the first TMNT movie, it was more like the ultra violent gritty comic than the child friendly cartoon, and we ate it up and is by far the best movie of the 2 *i refuse to acknowledge the 3rd*.
I dont mind ironfist and luke but this ep , the technovore ep, meh they were lame the other eps expanded on the story from the first season, and i really think this show can have a story arch format. worked for masters of evil, ultron, kang, scarlet witch and hawkeye(hail hydra), Gamma world, and the day unlike any other in the first season( and those are pretty much all the awesome eps in the first season ). If they want to have other characters they should be guest spots, like FF4 and doom but it moved along the kree skrull war story that has been simmering since the first season.
what happened to Yost? i thought he was behind the series now , everyone is talking about loeb did yost get the boot?

question, have you read ultimatum?
No. But I know it killed pretty much every character I loved.

Its kind of amazing how opposite they are, DC has animation on lockdown with Legion being the only failure.

The Batman started slow but turned out not too bad lasted 5 seasons and did alot of merchandise.legion was very good storywise. personally i liked it much better than teen titans. and what about the batman?
To clarify on this, Yost actually got promoted to work on Marvel films. He's not actually gone from Marvel.
Seriously? It's very much in line with Spidey lighter moments and humor.I know he's still with Marvel brah, but they put him on dead end projects like Battle Scars and Scarlet Spider. With scarlet being good but replacing stegman with koi pham on art.
And people are hating USM because it is a terrible show. It has no flow, with faimily guy level humor, three to four wall breaking jokes every minute. It pisses on everything spiderman is.

See, I think that's such a bizarre way of thinking. It seems to me, the USM haters think Super hero shows MUST BE serious action and that the only comedy should be in the occasional joke or one liner, but "silliness in MY Marvel cartoon? GTFO!" is the general attitude/viewpoint I just can't agree with.
I mean, in the other thread I likened USM to Disney's Emperor's New Groove in that it's just a fun entertaining piece that's not meant to be very serious. But apply the same idea, it's like seeing people hate ENG because it's such a huge step down from the grimdark Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I mean different tastes and all, but I wish people could see it as its own "genre" instead of hating it because it's not Spectacular/EMH/Young Justice/etc

good point. the marvel team up series was a fun romp throwback series, while not canon, was a lot of fun, and introduced quite a few good elements(like thor and storm... i still think that needs to happen) because its not taking itself serious shouldnt be a mark against it. but the character interactions should be the strong point. sadly, white tiger and sam have very little charisma, and since he seems to be paired with those two mostly, its really drags the series. this series has characters that are from ben 10 personality wise, and thats bad thing.....
it seems like they tried to attempt to do a batman TAS and have a universe encompass around batman, and when that didnt work they decided to drop guest stars everywhere.
what
Spiderman and Human Torch Miniseries. Very much in the USM tone, and it is awesome.

Oh yeah, I figured that out, I just found the image of Spider-Man driving a Spider-Man themed car (already pretty daft outside of the pages of a children's toy catalogue) on the side of a wall whilst Johnny flies behind him to be hilariously absurd.

Cancelled would be not getting the rest of the episodes.
They just didn't order more episodes.
Sure, semantics, but it's a no brainer, as someone pointed out Transformer fans have dealt with this for years now.
I really don't get the Loeb hate.

So, erm, am I the only one getting frustrated by the lack of advancement to the skrull story? The Ant-man episode served what purpose, exactly? Is that guy suddenly going to join the avengers as AM or what? And what's going with the Thor/Surtur story? If the last half of the season is going to be standalone episodes, shouldn't they hurry the hell up and resolve these stories before we're left with crappy filler?
Goku????????
next week answers a lot of questions

I hope so. We're on borrowed time and I'd hate for either skrull/surtur storyline to be left unresolved.
We need to see the Kree/Skrull and Surtur stuff soon, though.
