Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Who was it that said Marvel wasn't pandering, again? He clearly can't see what's happening in his company.

Nick Fury Jr. in 616

Avengers lineup following the movie, which, by the way, is exactly the opposite of what should happen. Instead they should be increasing the roster in the animated universe so as to build hype for and knowledge of more obscure projects in the future. Avengers has broken the records. It needs no more hyping.

It's fucking stupid and backwards to do this - I thought that they knew how to promote things... evidently not.

You're exactly right. It means young people who aren't big comic readers will be even less aware of new members they want to introduce instead of "Ah yeah, I know him from the TV show".

I mean, before EMH, I was not massively familiar with Wasp and Ant-Man, or Black Panther. I knew of their existence, but I hadn't read any of their exclusive comics or anything. Now I've seen them extensively, and have grown fond of all of them. Now I hope they make it into a future MCU film, in a faithful rendition.

But trying to hype up only members from the film like Black Widow? Yeah...I saw her in the film and before that. I like her fine, I don't need more convincing or hype around here, I am content to see her in more Avengers films.

With a medium like animation where not only do special effects budgets not limit you, but also where goofier comics costumes look cool (instead of looking ridiculous like many do in live action film), you should be using that to the limits instead of neutering it by sticking strictly to the live action film's barriers.

In EMH, Black Widow wasn't part of the team, but in this, she is?? It's not like EMH was lacking in the female department.
Falcon was a part of the SHS and showed up in EMH.

Tomorrow: one of you fly to San Diego by 1pm eastern and go to the Marvel TV panel. Point this out to the executives and the media that this idiot has sullied the animation department with his bs.

Last year, before he took over, the tv panel showed the first episode of season 2 with a big reaction. Now it's canned -_-

Hm this is what Leob said about Falcon in Avengers Assemble
The initial promo image shows the team lineup from the film — Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye — joined by comic-book mainstay the Falcon. “Falcon is going to be the eyes of the viewer,” Quesada told the website. “He’s a new member of the Avengers so he’s walking through our stories wide-eyed and with wonder and amazed to be a part of it. He’s a little younger than the rest of the cast and a little greener, so he adds an interesting dimension to the team that we think will play really well with the audience.”
I think his appearance on A:EMH contradicts this.

I am pretty sure Loeb has no fucking clue what he is talking about and the "same continuity" nonsense is just to appease fans. I hope the Marvel tv panel audience lets him have it.

Soooo Falcon's gonna be the Cyborg of the Avengers?
...and what's with all the Falcon hate?

He's a boring characters who's in to fill a minority role. One than can be filled by many characters with substance.

Well as someone who has read some good stories featuring the character, I beg to differ.
...and I've never had a problem with his outfit.

Really? His costume is very stupid. Its the reason I hate new 52 red robins costume.

While I don't like the mask a lot, the coloring of his outfit is fine IMO

Then again I rarely care about a character's outfit (unless it's Wondy, but even then I disregrd it), and mainly look at how a character is written or handled, and in the stories I read that featured Falcon, he was handled pretty well.

This is so entirely pointless as to be mind boggling. We don't need an "eyes of the audience" character. We know the Avengers already.

We had their origins, at least as members, told to us in EMH, and we had all their origins in the Marvel Studios films. Even if you're not familiar with the comics, you probably saw the films, at the very least. I don't need a "wide-eyed" youngster to go "gee whiz it's Iron Man!" and learn the ropes with the team, to be entertained or drawn into a show as a viewer.

Fuck that.

This is awesome! Why is everyone still pissed? What did I miss?

We're pretty sure it's bullshit because Loeb is talking about adding the Falcon as if he hasn't appeared in EMH yet, which he has, and he was not anywhere close to the character described by Loeb.

Plus they're changing the lineup considerably and removing fan favorite characters like Vision, Wasp, Black Panther and even Ms. Marvel in exchange for rather boring Black Widow who we've already seen in both the show and movies. Even if it's set after EMH in the same universe, it's likely the voice actors and tone of the show will be completely different, with new writers. For all intents and purposes, it is literally not EMH anymore.

This also reeks of something clueless Loeb might do because it makes no sense at all to limit the TV show roster to the movie's extra small roster. Wouldn't you want to use the show and comics to introduce more characters to people who don't know them?

Of course I would, but I don't think they would suddenly stop the changing roster scheme of the show, while still managing to keep the movie Avengers in there. As long as they keep the storylines and characters they established somewhat, I'm sure it will be better than a completely new Movie-Characters-Only show.

I dunno, after re-reading the last posts I see your concerns, but I guess I just wait how it turns out.

Furthermore, all of the movie Avengers were already the main lineup, plus more. Actually, Hulk went off, but stories actually continue and change in the show. And after USM, I don't trust this to be any good anyways.

Seriously, "eyes of the viewer"?

They're seemingly trying to fix problems that never existed.

So a wide eyed rookie superhero training to be an Avenger with the rest of the cast and probably injecting needless amounts of humour into proceedings while doing so.

Oh I'm sorry, did I just describe Ultimate Spider-Man again? Oh but wait, this character's name actually is Sam. But he's black, so we won't notice the obvious link. Nope. Not at all.

Are you beginning to realise, Marvel, from that ridiculous attempt at back-pedalling that this is still EMH somehow, what a gargantuan fucking moronic move it was to put Loeb in charge of your animation block?

I mean the best parts of EMH were the writing, over-arching stories, characters, and the extremely apparent love for all things Marvel, no matter how obscure. I mean when Ant-Man and fucking Wasp were made into some of the most likable and interesting characters on the show, you know they're doing something right. Without all of that it's not even the same show anymore. All that's really being preserved is the continuity, and even that isn't looking like it'll be taken too seriously.

Either Marvel is just trying to save face now or they really don't realize that we don't want another show set in the EMH universe, we just want more EMH.

Yeah, some of my favorite characters on the show were the likes of Ant-Man, Vision, and Black Panther, and I didn't even have a clue about who they were or what they were like until I watched this show.

As you have said, this is a big mistake to make the new show so narrow in terms of focus. It should be that the TV show introduces the audience to all things Marvel, so that they can call out the characters and recognize them when they see the movies, not vice versa.

Agree completly with your first sentence.

Never heard of Ant-Man, Vision or Black Panther, and they were my faves.

I'm LTTP with Avengers:EMH. I've seen all of season 1, and I really want to see season 2. But I can't seem to find any info on when it will air in the UK. Has anyone got some clues for me?

I have a feeling that like the rest of the cast featured in the Mega Drive game, I'm going to be shouting "VISION!" every time his name is mentioned.

it's about to start

Strommy: Director of Communications Arune Singh is introducing Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV!

Strommy: EMH wasn't cancelled, "Marvel Avengers Assemble" is just the next evolution of the Avengers cartoon

Strommy: Jeph's talking about Avengers: EMH! now. One of the first things he did when he came on board was look at EMH. He felt it was great and expanded the episode order from 26 to 52. It was always going to be 52 episodes, and when it concluded itself, they looked at it and examined what they were going to do next.

Strommy: They wanted to transition out of Avengers: EMH! and into the new series, "Marvel's Avengers Assemble." It's akin to what Bendis did when he started New Avengers.

uh it concluded?????

I really like this comment on the liveblog:

Comment From Doctor_Spidey
My kids & I really enjoy the long-form storytelling & character development in Avengers: EMH

That is a stealth Ultimate Spider-Man burn if I ever saw one.

Hell no. The final episode, while good, felt more like a filler episode and one that wouldn't have been out of place in the middle or a season.

So is anyone still watching this as it airs or did everyone just watch the "leaks"? I've already seen the whole show but I want to watch it as it airs anyway. Though I admit I skipped today because I didn't care too much for the Secret Invasion episode...

That ep. was actually very good.

I lost all interest and stopped watching.

I finished the series already, but I might watch it on TV some more for the hell of it.

Just finished watching season 2. Marathoned most of it. I watched up until Ballad of Beta Ray Bill before and then just stopped, news of Josh Keaton being re-dubbed, series ending and just my disinterest in Skrulls made me lose interest in the show.

Anyway, I'm glad I watched the remaining episodes. Yes the Skrull storyline was lame and anticlimactic, and Spider-Man sorely needed Josh Keaton. Drake Bell was just annoying. But aside from that last half of the season, the one everyone thought would be bad, was probably the best set of episodes in this show in my opinion.

Great show overall, it will be missed.
