I'd hold off on a Steam purchase now, as there will probably be a 4-Pack deal.

You can always cancel the preorder if the 4 pack shows up. I seriously doubt one will show up until after the game launches even though the Executive Producer of the Battlefield series said that he will try to work something out. The reason being is because EA probably does not want people canceling their preorders from the EA store for a better deal.

I want to play the Beta. If paying $12 more instead of waiting until a later date to get a 4-pack gets me into the Beta, that is a deal to me.

Fuck of course the game goes up on Steam the weekend that I have no money. Going to have to go the Gamestop route for Beta access.

This makes complete sense. However, since the beta doesn't start until e 28th, i'll hold on until the 26th or the 27th to make the purchase. Borderlands 4pack showed up 4 days after the game went up, and i had to beg steam to give me back my money so i could buy the 4pack instead. :D

No sign of a 4-pack in the registry blob so I wouldn't count on it.
On damn, from the lips (hands?) of LovingSteam himself. Oh well.. still going to wait.

Pre-ordered at play.com to get the BETA key. Will cancel once I receive it, just like I did with the PS3 beta and Uncharted 2 beta. :D

I'm sorry but £23.99 >>> the £26.99 they're asking.

Kind of a dick move to handle a beta like this. Steam doesn't give out beta keys where I live, and there are no retailers giving out beta keys here either. :lol So I guess I'll just have to wait until march to play this then.

I'm pretty sure that the beta is given worldwide through Steam. If you are looking at the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 store page then it will not contain any information about the beta. Only Steam's home page and Steam's news page contains the information about the beta.

Wierd, but I guess I was only looking at the games steam page and didn't see any stores within the netherlands on the list with participating retailers, so I assumed that meant we wouldn't get beta access.

Twitter conversation from L_Twin (http://twitter.com/L_Twin):

Lot's of Q's regarding the possibility of 4 pack BFBC2 bundle on Steam. We're working on this, hope we can realize this options asap.

@L_Twin Do you think we will have an answer about the 4 pack before the start of the beta?

@andylogan Hope we can have this solved during next week but can't promise anything.

Hmmmm. Still, i'm going to wait a little bit.

For those who care, it seems like the digital release of Bad Company 2 will include SecuROM (NOTE: This does not apply to the Steam version, so it will NOT HAVE SECUROM.):

It is currently unknown if the disc version of the game will include SecuROM or a simple disc check.

Edit: Nevermind. The disc version does include SecuROM:

I hate this gamestop shit sooooo much.

Squad Rush Summary
Gamemode: Squad Rush puts a squad of four players versus another squad of four players for a max of eight player matches in this intense one crate/two base infantry only version of the Rush gamemode.

How To Access "Squad Rush" at Launch
North America: All customers that pre-order from GameStop (local retail store or website) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have an Exclusive Access* for 30 days to play the "Squad Rush" gamemode and any friends they bring with them. This means you can always play with your friends if you have the Exclusive Access* never forcing you to split from them, plus those that have this Exclusive Access* are a bit more popular... even if only for 30 days. ;-)

Rest of The World: No Exclusive Access, but we will make it available at launch and you can also invite any of your American buddies to play as well.

* No Exclusive Access on PC, however we'll make the gamemode available at launch instead.

When a house or hut collapses does the debris/material still have collision? Like say if I was on the roof of a hut or going across a wooden bridge and it started to collapse, would I still be able to run across it as it declined? Also is there any damage from falling debris to players?

I've had this on pre-order for a while thanks to this thread, the wait is killing me!

This x10,000!

I'm tempted to not buy BF:BC2 until it falls off the NPD charts to show EA how pissed I am about this!

While I'm personally getting it for PC, I do feel the pain for you console gamers...

But hey, maybe it will push more gamers to get it for PC :D

I can't stand ironsights but the game still looks amazing. MP is more what i'm interested in though.

Was good to see it saving during the crazy chase scene with no slowdown.

Love how powerful the guns look and feel , wish the multiplayer had the same damage values 2-3 shots to kill.

Multiplayer has a hardcore mode which ramps up the bullet damage apparently.

(Shameless C&P from GB link)

- No Killcam
- Friendly Fire ON
- No Aiming Reticule - Ironsights Only (and Scopes and Red Dot of course)
- Higher Bullet Damage
- No Minimap
- No HUD whatsoever
- No Spotting On-screen Indicators
- Sensorballs just start to piep, when somebody moves in it's area of effect (and only a limited number active per team)

Also: Maybe this is a stupid question, but any word on singleplayer (online) co-op, or cooperative sidemissions?

No co-op in the campaign just saw that confirmed in one of the recent interviews lost the link though sorry, no word on side missions. My gut says no though.

Looks great, I love the sound design in Battlefield games.

Dumb question as I'm assuming the answer is yes, but I can pre order the limited edition on steam for $49 after the beta starts correct? I'm really tempted, but I want to hear some impressions about the PC version first.

I believe you can get a refund from Steam for preorders up until the game officially releases.

Can anyone confirm this? If that's the case then I'll happily pre-order it so I can try it for myself.

Sebulon3k said:
Has it been confirmed when Gamestop is going to be giving out the pre order codes in store?
According to their site, you only get it if you order it online with delivery
