Experience is the keyword. Gerstmann had none. Once you've learned the flow and layout of the map, and you know, how the game works, you'll be able to avoid situations like that with greater success.

Few good examples of FoV over here. Borderlands gave me motion sickness on the 360 unplayable for me.

Edit: I'm curious anyone in the UK receive their beta code from Play.com?

@MaydaX You'll get more details on the FOV in a future blog post. It's not user adjustable but sports diff aspect ratios.

Upscaling to 1080p in the PS3 beta was horrifc.

The amount of jaggies was beyond belief, anyone else have that problem?

Still looked decent in 720p mind you.
 
Don't use 1080p upscaling in any games that aren't MGS4, Lair, or Gran Turismo. In most cases the TV will do a better job upscaling 720p output.

Bad Company 2 PC Beta Start Time & Size

We were sent some information today from YkudzA about a post on Russian Battlefield site TotalBF.ru, which has some more details on the upcoming Bad Company 2 PC beta.

The 1.5 GB client will be available the morning of January 28th with testing scheduled to start at 20:00 (GMT+3), which if I did this right works out to be 10am PST.

From the forum representative office in Russia Electronic Arts has learned a little more information about the beta launch game Battlefield Bad Company 2.

In particular, managed to learn that DICE plans to publish a link to download the beta version on January 28 (morning), and 20:00 (GMT +3) will be launched beta testing.

Client Beta Battlefield Bad Company 2 will weigh about 1.5Gb.

canceling my gamestop pre order, and pre ordering on steam to guarantee a beta. gamestop was supposed to send them out today
 
Is play.com's beta a sure bet? Also since its a EU site, can I use that to play on US beta servers when it comes out? First time doing this beta stuff on PC.
 
Even though I preordered through gamestop, you think they'll still be releasing keys through Fileplanet? If they do, I may give out my extra key..

FOV is essentially the field or cone of vision you have in the game. A lower FOV is something popular with console games because it makes more sense for people playing on the big comfy couch several feet from the TV. But for those playing on PC and sitting a a foot or closer to the display, it feels claustrophobic.
 
Has there been any official word on when the PS3/360 demos will be released to their respective marketplaces? I'm chomping at the bits to get my hands back on this game ASAP. :'(

I think a narrow FOV feels claustrophobic no matter what. I have a 55" TV, sitting 3.5 meters away, and Bad Company SP was terrible. Was like looking through a magnifying glass. Artificially constricted, zoomed in, really annoying and almost made me feel kind of dizzy.

Anyone know what Bad Company's FOV was in singleplayer?
 
There may be a possible leak on in-game screenshots of the PC version soon. There is a client available, but no servers are. There might be a chance someone could try and make a local game though.

Mad props for having tweakable sound options. Not just volume up / volume down. A minor point, but this shit is important. The gun sounds in Left 4 Dead 2 damn near ruined the experience for me:

"Boomer!"

Thanks. I hope it doesn't kill my fps like ambient occlusion did in Red Faction Guerrilla that was a nightmare, hopefully that was just due to a bad PC port.
 
Oh wow, that definitely looks like they put lots of thought into PC!

Let's hope the game plays on PC as good as it seems to from just looking at the menus :lol

Is it possible to link me? Iv already got a beta key but id love to be able to have it downloaded and ready to go on the day it comes out.. my internet sucks :(
 
will EA/DICE be doing another platform war?

u know like in 1943? ps3 vs 360?

could we have a PC vs ps3 vs 360? just for laffs & giglles?

Those are the only screenshots that have been posted. Nothing else has come out

What?! THAT happened?! My god how could I miss that? How's that possible though? SO MANY QUESTIONS! AHH!! :P

Seriously I'm trying to decide between this and mag (I'm a PS3/PC guy), and the BF series has been good to me in the past. MAG looks tentatively groundbreaking but I wanna know for sure, because I have only time and money for one of the two.

its too early to tell if we'll get beta keys outside of preordering from steam or gamestop. However considering twitter.com/EA is giving keys out tmrw, I'd say in a week or two we'll have keys coming from the usual places like Fileplanet.
 
Do we have a list of the maps they've announced for MP yet? I can't seem to find one. Off the top of my head:
  • Port Valdez
  • Atacama Desert
  • Arica Harbour
  • Panama Canal
  • Laguna Presa
Have they announced or shown any other maps?
 
I'll be getting PS3 version and will get the PC version as soon as I can build a high end DX11 (2nd or 3rd gen graphic cards, more bang for buck) gaming PC.
