Just curious if I pre-purchase the game after the beta starts, can I still get into the beta?

Also how do you guys think this will work on my comp?

Q6600 @ 2.4GHZ
8800GT
4GB RAM
Win 7 - 64-bit

I'm trying to aim for 1680x1050 - Max settings, no aa and no af. If I can (if I'm lucky) to have HBAO on.

I'm about in the same boat as you (as far as specs go)

But I'm rolling with an 8800 Ultra and 2.9GHz processor

No one will know how it runs untill tomorrow, but understand the "Beta" is not going to be as optimized as the final version. So expect a small boost in performace in the final game if the beta is not up to par with your expections.

play.com code received here also, just waiting to get home from work and see if the client is available for download anywhere.

logged 30+ hours in the PS3 beta, this should be good ;D

From what I read it seems as if HBAO in some form is a dx11 setting. Also it seems to cut frame rates in half. Not entirely sure about this as alot of the stuff I read is above me technically.

I don't know if I am going to get this on the PS3 or PC.

I would get it on PS3 except the beta was unplayble on my SDTV.

I would get it for PC except I don't know if will run well on it or end up looking worse than the PS3 version.

my specs are

AMD Athlon II X3 425 2.7GHz
8GB ram
ATI Radeon HD 4650
Windows 7 64bit.

Anyone know if there will be websites giving out pc beta keys?

Can anyone confirm this? I think Im gonna wait on the "Fermi" cards before I upgrade again...

Yeah I played it, but it looked like shit on the TV.

Honestly I'm not suprised. AO in general doesn't seem well optimized and/or a good use of resources.

Same. I'm getting excited. Hopefully my 8600m GT in my mbp can handle it.
What? I have a 9600m GT in mine and assumed it would be completely unable to play the game decently.

Also, playing TF2 and CoH recently on my MBP, the thing gets really hot.

I bring some more leaked screens, again, these are not mine someone else posted these on another forum.

Looks like whoever was playing, played on low settings.

Some games don't even take a hit with AO. Star Trek Online doesn't drop any more frames with SSAO on for me.

Looks like BF2 with those settings :D Worst leaks ever.

Edit: Just saw the others screens. Woo!
dont say that...

considering bf2 looked like absolute dog shit the day it was released, and performance was worse with every patch, I hope this game has nothing to do with bf2 besides the name.

actually I would just prefer that BF2/2142/xboxgame were wiped from my memory, those games were the worst games dice ever made.

brb alt-tab back to 1942.

Sorry. Loved BF2. Still play it today.

The performance was shit, I agree on that .... but bf2 looked great on release, what are you talking about?!

yeah I remember people using the demo for BF2 to show off the latest/prettiest PC graphics. The palm trees etc in the middle east iirc.

Yeah I noticed that. I actually had SSAO on for the first time with everything maxed and all the sliders up and had 30-60 fps. Guess it depends on the game.

That does not look too good to be honest. Maybe because of the environment, but lots of ugly textures and blocky architecture :(

It was being played with low settings or something like that.
They game is quite 'a looker'.

Yeah, videos looked great - but that not so much. Let us wait for tomorrow, my hardware is ready.

I know what you mean and BC2 will look great in motion and with sound. But I really hope those screenshots are on low settings.

After spending quite a lot of time with stereoscopic 3d pics and vids in the last hour I just tried to see this in 3d, before I realized that it was two different screens :lol

True. Everything looks better in motion.

Snow maps just tend to look like ass. I have yet to play a single game with nice Snow maps. Yes I have played uncharted 2 and the snow portions are by far the worst looking parts.

hadn't seen this yet, although I had read that the fight would be taking place in the US at times.

That's a scene from the end of the single player trailer.

This thread is killing me. I am buying this on the 360 in March, already played it on BETA on the PS3, but dying to test the PC version tomorrow but I do not want to double dip and get it on STEAM. This is what it must feel like to want crack when you are trying to quit. You'll do something that isn't logical at the moment. You'd kill. Just for a hit.

When's the Beta

First, let's start by making the official time and date of the Beta the start of this Blog in what will be and EPIC moment in DICE's PC History! The PC Beta begins this Thursday, January 28th at approximately 6pm CET, 12pm EST, and 9am PST time!!!!!!! :-D

Where to Get It

The Client will be downloadable from server partner websites and Steam starting at the above listed time at a file size of 1.5GB. Here's a hyper-link reminder http://bit.ly/4GJk2a on which retailers will provide PC Beta access through pre-ordering.

Why we're Having a Beta

The Beta is happening for many reasons, like testing the infrastructure, hosting stability, and gameplay tuning (FOV, Weapon Balance, etc...) that no amount of internal testing could provide better than real world exposure. This means there will also be times of choppiness, lag, disconnects, CTDs or other issues a Beta version of any MP game would have. We'll have feedback methods similar to the PS3 Beta as well to ensure your input is gathered and heard.

Advanced warning: there will be things updated in the final game, like a Server browser with more functions, optimizations, performance tweaks, and learning's from the Beta.

This truly is a Beta, so remember that all feedback is appreciated and wanted! :-)

Hosting the Beta

Renting of Beta servers will not be possible, but we'll work closely with all our RSPs* to ensure there is always enough capacity for each individual regions.

Where to Download the Beta

We'll distribute with many partners as possible to ensure the fastest DLs no matter your location around the world. Current know locations and methods will be EADM, Steam, Torrents (only get this from legit sources, i.e. an RSP*), and all our RSP's.

Getting Started In the Beta
STEP 1: Make sure you have at least 5GB free on your HDD and then download and Install BFBC2! :-D
STEP 2: Once installation is completed (install size will be around 1.5GB) start the client and click the login button. You will then be prompted to sign in with your EA Account. If you don't have an EA Account you'll be able to create one in the same screen. (You may also create your EA Account in advance HERE)
STEP 3: Enter the unique PC Beta Code during the log in process to authenticate your participation in the Beta.
Step 4: Create your Soldier name (this will lock that name to your EA account for retail if you want to keep it).

Note: You will not be able to play or access any multiplayer menus without being authenticated. After the Beta Key is registered it will be tied to your EA Account and no longer valid for new registrations. Our game will use SecuROM for the Beta and Final games .exe, for more info on how SecuROM works in BFBC2 please read this Blog to learn about it in more detail.

* Ranked Server Provider (RSP)

//GvD

fyi securom is included.

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/bat...hive/2010/01/26/BFBC2-PC-Copy-Protection.aspx

gist of it is:
You can have the game authenticated on up to 10 machines at the same time. (however one online account)
One authentication is valid for 10,000 days. Thus, if you authenticated once on launch day - March 2nd, 2010 – that authentication will be valid until July 18th, 2037.
or just have the dvd in the drive.
