BAFTA has announced the ten games shortlisted for its Game Award, the only one of its annual videogame awards that is selected by public vote.

Those that vote for their favourite from the list below can enter a prize draw to win a limited edition Star Wars Xbox 360 with Kinect.

Sponsored by UK retailer Game, this year's BAFTA Videogame Awards take place on Friday March 16 at the London Hilton in Park Lane. Last year's winner was Call Of Duty: Black Ops; to cast your vote, follow the source link below.

Batman: Arkham City (Warner Bros)
Battlefield 3 (EA)
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision)
FIFA 12 (EA)
LA Noire (Take-Two)
Minecraft (Mojang)
Portal 2 (Valve / EA)
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Nintendo)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (Sony)

Minecraft will win purely because of the amount of campaigning the fans will do to get everyone to go vote for it.

There is only one game in that list that should win and that is Portal 2. Skryim is an abomination because of the sheer amount of bugs present on the console versions.

I know, right? Especially when Mario 3D Land is better than half the games there. Oh, and also sold better than half of them too.

Last year we had a lot of great handheld games -Pokémon Black/White, Ghost Trick, Kirby Mass Attack, Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Trails in the Sky, Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Okamiden- and almost none of them has been considered here and in other awards, bah.

The usual big-budget suspects. While there's some well-deserved great titles in here, this list as a whole looks almost identical to what you'd expect from, say, Spike VGAs (popularity contest). I'd expect a bit different from the Baftas, but guess not.

Kinda surprised to see LA Noire there.

Batman, was, for me the best surprise with a great gameplay for those cold winter days at home.

You expected different? May I remind you:

Last year's winner was Call Of Duty: Black Ops

Meh at the Game award, sure it isn't the best list in the world but then I don't know what else they would put on there that would really have a chance of winning.

Will be interesting to see what the other award nominees are that aren't voted for by the public, people need to remember there are other categories that just this one and this isn't even the best game award, just the publicly voted one.

From last year:
Action
Artistic Achievement
Best Game
Family
Gameplay
Handheld
Multiplayer
Original Music
Social Network Game
Sports
Story
Strategy
Technical Innovation
Use of Audio
BAFTA Ones to Watch
GAME Award.

I'm not sure what people were expecting to be on this "GAME" award list and not best game, it is a list of games that is meant to be voted on by the public, it is going to be filled with big name games because those are what have sold or are well known for people to vote on, and this is for the general gaming masses now not those of us that sit on forums all day.

I would love it to be Minecraft, because I adore the irony of a Game-sponsored award being won by a title that Game doesn't sell.

Of course, given recent news about Game, that could be true of any of them these days

MW3 will probably win. Not that it should in my eyes, I'd like to see Skyrim get it.
Despite the numerous bugs and the PS3 save game/framerate fiasco that is still awaiting a fix 3 months after release? Game of the Year!

Skyrim doesn't deserve it just for the PS3 version alone. Bethesda can fuck off due to that disaster.
reality check: nobody gives a crap about that problem when they decide on awards. Skyrim IS a great game and should be recognized.
Don't get me wrong, it's shameful that the PS3 version has those bugs, but seriously? Demonize the whole project because of it? Sorry, but no.
