You know, I just noticed this thread was 10 pages long and wondered the same thing. Now I have to read it from the start lol.

Sorry to burst your bubble but in the 80's you used to be able to buy bagged milk in the UK.

I say we solve it the democratic way, Canadian public VS US public as to whom is better, more votes wins. The only fair way.

However, I think a far cooler idea would be reusable bottles that can be filled up at a dispenser, similar to the spring water dispensers you see in and around grocery stores.

I wonder if those things are hooked up to water lines in the back :lol

They are. The vending machine is just a giant multi-process filtering system connected to the municipal water supply.

Restaurants use bagged milk all the time.:lol

that reminds me... the milk we use at my place of employment (restaurant) comes in a like... i dunno... 20, 25L bag? its a heavy motherfucker. ill try to get a picture next time i work... but i'll be hungover and its not for 5 days so ill probably forget. we'll see lol.

I just checked with my Canadian correspondents...the guy from Montreal, Quebec knew exactly what this was and enthusiastically described to me how great it was...while the guy from Vancouver (British Columbia - where the recent olympics took place) had no idea what I was talking about and was just as shocked (complete with incredulous expression on face) when I described it to him.

So I guess it's an eastern Canadian thing?

A lot of Vancouverites-GAF also claimed to have never seen it, either that or they're in denial

lol. It always cracks me up how you Canadians never realize when Americans are trolling you. It's really kind of a national past time for America to troll Canada (blame canada, uncivilized, America's hat, etc.). It's all in good fun :).

Because Canadians have an inferiority complex and the lengths that they go to prove that this isn't a horrible idea proves it. I lived with bagged milk for a couple of years in Chile. There's absolutely no reason why it would be preferable to a milk carton or jug. None. Zero.

Now, on the flip side, they're not nearly as big of a failed concept as people make them out to be here in the United States, so lay off the Canadians on this one, fellas.

Bagged milk = not so bad.
Jug/Carton milk = the pinnacle of dairy product packaging.

no, its because people on the internet get bored and find joy in participating in heated debates of extremely trivial things.

Just because the East is cold, dreary and backwards doesn't mean the West Coast is.

To sum up this thread.

Canadians: Forsaken and forgotten by generations of milk packaging engineers still think their 1970's milk bags are the hottests shit ever. To proof how cool and modern they are they sell them in fancy tampon and diaper colors.

Rest of the World: Is using proper milk packaging for generations already. Laughs at canadian quirk and trolls them for many days on NeoGAF.
