Agreed... If you could lump the last At The Drive-In album along with the first Mars Volta album and just say "Cedric and Omar", then that entity could take it maybe.Truant said:I would have gone with The Mars Volta, but then their last three records happened.

They are the band of the forever, though.
Made me like heavy metal.

TheWiicast said:OP wins. Absolutely. Electric Six is the most amazing band of the '00s.

Anywho, this thread really got me thinking and I'm not too sure. I'll mull it over and be back tomorrow. I've got a 2 hour drive tomorrow so I'll whip the CDs out and see how I feel.

I've been drinking and I'm failing at coming up with anyone else, so I'm going to second your answer.AlternativeUlster said:Historically, it will be the Animal Collective. For me, it is probably Hair Police, Burning Star Core, Astral Social Club, or Birchville Cat Motel.

LaneDS said:Going to say Radiohead, simply because Kid A came out in 2000 and is my favorite album period.
A more creative answer might be The Hold Steady... everything they've released this decade has been fantastic in my eyes (or you know, ears).
Edit: Missed the part about the debut after the decade started, so pretend my answer is The Hold Steady.

Aselith said:No really. I liked the first album a lot, it's one of my all time favorite records but Frances was just 70 minutes of musical masturbation. Just horribly disjointed and completely pointless. You can say it was music for music's sake but it was terrible, cacophonous music. I found no redeeming value in it at all.
I'm sure there are people who like and I'm sure some of them will attack me shortly but it was the worst musical experience of my life and I was fully prepared to fall in love with it like I did the first go around and earlier with At the Drive-In.
