Bands that you don't get the appeal of?

Skrillex and Death Grips.

I say this as someone that likes Merzbow, "dubstep", rap in general, and some screamo metal.

Aside from a couple hit tracks I don't understand why they can get away with disorganized and irritating sounds that are barely coherent. Merzbow is at least balanced.

Good to see that Metal is still a threat in this day and age that it still sets so many people's teeth on edge. Metal should never be accepted by the hegemony.

People saying they hate metal because of "angst" have never made an effort to decently listen to metal.

Anyway, I can name a lot of bands but summarising what I hate in certain bands and artists is way easier.

- I can't stand music without heart. Music that is made with only money and commercialism in mind makes my skin crawl. It's a fine line, because some artists do pour their heart and soul into their music and still make millions, which sometimes makes it hard to tell the two apart.

- I also detest over-produced music. Auto tuning, overdone samples and effects on singers voices, etc... If you can't make good music or if you can't sing... Well...Then just don't. It's just that simple to me.

- Being unoriginal. Another fine line, because some covers are terrific and deserve the attention they get. A band can be very similar to another but still be experts at what they do. Or a DJ can use sapmles from songs and effectively use them to create something compelling.

This. Metal, like most genres, cover so many areas and sound completely different from eachother. Not all metal is the typical teenage angst radio crap.

Metal is the anime of music. Peoples opinions of it mostly fall into 3 categories:

People who love it so vehemently that they self identify with it to the point that they feel above people who don't enjoy it.

People are basically apathetic to it. They can like/dislike different works within the genre.

People who hate it based on what they assume the genre is.
