Frank Castle is a big advocate of literacy, being able to read FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY is something that has saved his life numerous times! :lol

I miss Microchip.

I would've been him in the MMO. Eff Xavier's.

You claimed it HAD to be the Marvel MMO because the studio had been GUTTED by NCSoft, I pointed out that it obviously had NOT been gutted. Trying using your eyes instead of rolling them when you get called out.

That website says exactly nothing of direct relevance, what were you expecting them to say?

"...seeing as we've had our arse ripped out by NCSoft it's mobile games for us from now on..."

Cryptic almost certainly got the gig for the Marvel MMO on the back of all their work on City of Heroes. Now that the majority of the talent (and the creative forces) behind the game have jumped ship no amount of standard PR rhetoric will change the fact that this does not bode well for the Marvel MMO.

A definitive no? At this point, of course not. But let's use reason and deduction rather than cut and pasting what we read on the developers own site.

Halo wars. Hopefully.

This is the only game i dont want to play from MS

Halo Wars was only recently announced, if what he says is true down to the letter then it probably isn't it

There really is no reason for this game to be canned. It's not overly ambitious, it has a very good chance to do well in sales; plus it was just been announced a year ago.

If it's not Banjo and not Alan Wake, I'd say Shane messed up.

There again it's got Halo in its name so Shane probably would think that it's highly anticipated.

I really, really hope that it's Halo Wars. I would never play a RTS on a console. Ever.

I think it's probably Peter Jackson's game or whatever it is. That thing is already dead in the water since last X06.

It can't be Too Human.

right?

I don't know...

Let's look at the current candidates:

Marvel MMO: Virtually no hype + no history of MMOs on 360. MMOs have huge upfront costs. It's a very risky venture. A game needs to capture a large audience quickly to justify the costs. This one is looking pretty likely.

Too Human: Does MS want to cut its losses? The game's launch is supposedly right around the corner. After years & years of development, millions spent, why cut and run at this juncture? It doesn't make sense. However, the recent litigation with Epic may have thrown a monkey wrench into the process. Maybe Epic has threatened MS? Maybe the legal fees are quickly escalating? Who knows.

Perfect Dark: Why would MS announce a cancellation of a game that they haven't even officially started work on? FPS + Rare = guaranteed million seller. Forget PDZ. PDZ was a patch job for the 360's launch.

Alan Wake: Denied.

Banjo: Denied.

Halo Wars: Why the fuck would you cancel anything with the name Halo on it? I personally have no interest in the game but it looks like its coming along OK.

Peter Jackson Project: This project hasn't even been defined. We have no idea what to expect. Maybe the whole Halo movie financing fiasco has soured Mr. Jackson's taste for the gaming world? I highly doubt it.

I jokingly made a prediction that Too Human would be sold to a third party publisher in a MS fire sale after all the trouble they've had with it and end up multi platform.

Jokingly mind......

Dyack's gonna need a bigger ice bucket.

Is that a reference to Brando on the set of the Island of Dr Moreau?

What about the Wingnut Interactive/Peter Jackson Halo project?

Now that the feature film is dead, maybe they killed the game/interactive thingy too?

EDIT: already mentioned :(

I think it's Too Human. It got pretty bad buzz till now. And if I remember correctly SK also blamed Epic that they didn't get the PS3 version of UE3 on time. That makes me wonder why they need a PS3 version of UE3 if they are working on an exclusive 360 title.

I looked it up and this is what it says about that:

"More recently, Epic has breached its Agreement with Silicon Knights yet again by missing the six-month deadline for release of an Engine that works on the Playstation 3. Final development kits for that console were released in and around mid-August, 2006, making the functional Engine due to Silicon Knights in February, 2007. Silicon Knights has received no such Engine from Epic."

Interesting, but I wouldn't draw too much from it. I'm sure SK has other projects on the go that they're free to shop to any publisher.

Silicon Knights have a game published by Sega in the works... it'll most likely be on PS3 as well as 360 and possibly PC.

I'd say it was the Marvel MMO because we've had nothing on it.

Too Human would sell alright I reckon too, if its actually good and they released a good demo then i'd say it would easily make 1m.

Too Human

The perfect track record of MGS needs to be maintained and with Mass Effect and Lost Odysee on the horizon there is no need for a game like Too Human and next-year it'll be destroyed by DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden II. Just cancel it and move on, Denis will find someone else to finance his moneypit.

There is no way it's Too Human. Why would they cancel a game that's almost out? Even if it still has significant problems, wouldn't it be better to just release it?

Really glad that Banjo 3 isn't canceled. Might be the 360 game I am looking forward to most. If they manage to make the game even half the game that Banjo Kazooie (no Tooie please) was I will be very happy :)

I think people are overlooking the "people are VERY excited for" aspect of his comment. Yeah, Halo Wars and the Marvel MMO sound interesting, but is there really a ton of hype for either of those games?

I'm just saying it'll probably be a game that people don't really care about. No way it could be Too Human.

one can only hope

Ahh, I can't see it being Too Human to be honest. If, and that's a sizeable if, MS were to drop Too Human there's no reason why someone else wouldn't pick it up to publsih like LA Noire and Psychonauts (IIRC).

OK, let's work with the following assumption: Shane is not talking about a game that hasn't been revealed either via an official statement or 'whispers.' As he said, "people have been looking forward to this game for a while now."

Using this assumption, we know what MGS games are coming down the pipeline. Because Alan Wake & Banjo have been denied, it HAS to be either Too Human or the Marvel MMO. The only one people have been VERY excited for is Too Human (for various reasons).

DYACK WHERE ARE YOU

Maybe it's the opposite and people are reading too much into that aspect of his comment?

Shane probably just now found out about Frame City Killer and was under the impression that it was a first party title.

I reckon Halo fans are really excited for Halo Wars?

But why are we even thinking games are cancelled just because we haven't seen anything from em for a while? I mean, developers are working on project for 1-2 years without even telling the press..

I'm a Halo fan and couldn't give two shits about Halo Wars. I play my RTS games on a PC and they are always made by this company called Blizzard.

Wait, you guys actually think confirmations to the contrary from developers mean something? If it's heading towards cancellation, the developer wouldn't be allowed to say that it is, and would likely be requested to tell people that it is not. Remember how SK claimed that it had no problems with UE3?
