I don't believe for a second MS will greenlight an AAA mascot 3D platformer that focuses on actual platforming and that doesn't have an open-world aspect to it.
 
I still think they're making Battletoads. A new Banjo would be nice, but I think they could mold Battletoads into something that fits for their demographic more like Killer Instinct.
 
People need to get over the idea of another Banjo anytime soon. Yooka Laylee will be the closest you will get for the foreseeable future.

The team working on Yooka-Laylee have said they know what Rare are working on -- they were working on it themselves before they left -- and they said that fans would like it. But they didn't say that it had anything to do with Banjo.

My money is still on Rare's new game being a new IP. Colorful and humorous, perhaps a platformer, but a new IP. If it's threeie, then cool, but it'd be such a sink or swim situation for both Rare and Xbox. If they mess up Banjo Threeie, a lot (A LOT) of faith will be lost in Xbox, imo. Would be safer to make a new IP with Rare DNA.
 
Another Banjo would be great. Much of the talent behind the original games has left Rare but they have the pattern of the previous titles to go by.

I hate to say it but MS exclusivity is a shame from my standpoint. I'd rather own Playstation + Wii U than XBox + Wii U...I certainly won't buy all three. So I'll probably miss out on a sequel to two of my fave N64 games.

Anyway, I'm all for it existing. Let's hope B3ie happens and is good.

I think you're overestimating Banjo's mainstream significance a tax bit.

Nuts and bolts is such an underrated game. First time the series tried being more than a sub par Super Mario 64 clone, so i'm hoping for a sequel to that (maybe with less emphasis on the driving). Early Xbox 360 Rare developed some truly intresting games, so looking forward to what ever they have to announce at E3.

Nuts & Bolts is not underrated, it gets the hate it deserves for being a boring and repetitive game and for misleading fans that they'd be getting an experience in the same style as the original titles, as they implied with that teaser trailer when the game was announced.

If they had made N&B a spin off then they wouldn't have killed the IP and we would have had both N&B and Banjo 3 by now just like we get Mario Kart games and mainline Mario titles.

They shouldn't have experimented to the degree of switching entire genres in a mainline title.
 
We know that whatever they're working on isn't Conker or Perfect Dark. I think it has to be either a new IP, Battletoads or Banjo. I thought Banjo was unlikely, but this recent news has me thinking it could very well be Banjo. :P

Definitely not boring. Has a ton of different and varied event types. That teaser was LONG before the game actually released, and no one was being tricked into getting something they didn't know. They were upfront about it by the time of release.

Don't be a goofball. N&B is the best Banjo game and deserves a sequel.

Whoah everyone can have their opinions and all but are you kidding with saying N&B was the best title in the series?

It's not even comparable, the first two are incredible games highly regarded as the best in their genre and N&B was Rare trying to cash in on a fad by centering their game around a gimmick of kart building.

I love Kart building games as Lego Racers is one of my favorites but the game play in N&B is garbage compared to the game play in BK.

It's apples to oranges which is why N&B should have been a spin off and not a mainline title.

I don't think people would have been happy if traditional Mario games were replaced by Mario Kart.

Having both is the best way to go.

This would be excellent news. Rare would have a much greater shot at selling a lot more copies and maybe justifying some franchise development.
 
Nuts and Bolts is an underrated masterpiece. I mean, the first two Banjo games are cute and some of the better Mario 64 knockoffs. But N & B went and delivered something new and fresh, with a more distinct, less generic art style and a more charming world.

People are too hung up on "Threeie" when N & B is already the true Threeie and approaches the Mario Galaxy/3D World games in quality which the first two Banjos do not. Nuts and Bolts and Lost Odyssey are the two reasons I'm holding onto my 360.
 
I dunno, Banjo might be cool but now that we have Yooka-Layee... I wouldn't be as excited, unless it's out this year.

Bk 1 and 2 perfected the formula laid out by Mario 64 to the extent of becoming genre defining titles, there's a reason BK is the goto example of a well made 3d platformer/collectathon.

Nuts & Bolts took experimentation too far for a mainline title and is the reason we haven't had a banjo game since.

If N&B was anything like Bk1 and 2 people would be regarding it as threeie, but the huge shift in gameplay/core mechanics was too large of a leap to make with a mainline title.

As I've said, if N&B was just a spinoff and we still had a sequel to Bk2 in the same style then everyone would be happy.

Nintendo does it with Mario Kart so they're my goto example of having your cake and eating it too.
 
Any chance that if they announce this and call it Banjo Threeie they will try to do a play on words

"Welcome to E3" and it transforms to "Banjo 3E"



Also, as a huge, HUGE Banjo fan, Nuts and Bolts wasn't what I wanted, but I still really enjoyed it. I had an absolute blast playing around in that game.

People want Banjo and Kazooie 3. Not Banjo and Kazooie with cars.

It really is simple as that. I don't blame people who were disappointed.

Do you honestly think that Rare's big new AAA game is Battletoads? Battletoads is just a sidescroller. It'll come, but I bet my shirt it'll be a downloadable type of game. I'm 60/40 between new IP/Banjo.
