Well Paladins as much as everyone was comparing it to Overwatch in beta it was actually much different. Not so much now but still different compared to it.

The game was actually fun when it came out with a full group. I haven't played it in pretty much a year. I'd like to play it again, even if it was f2p...as long as I get benefits for having the game already.
Battleborn is supposed to be pretty decent from what I understand, it just picked the wrong time to come out. The animosity towards Pitchford and the marketing trying to act all tough towards Overwatch probably didn't help either.
F2P could save it, but it's still going to face steep competition.

I bought in after the population tanked, but the one match I did connect to was honestly, genuinely a lot of fun.
It's a miserable game to run solo, but if this means people might actually play it, I'm all for it.

So, I couldn't connect to the servers earlier, before I went to the gym (around 4 hours ago) and now I've gotten back the game is downloading a 21GB (!) update on PS4.
Anyone idea what it is?
Bit of a bummer, my PS Plus runs out tomorrow and I was hoping to get a last few games in tonight because I'm not fussed about renewing it. Oh well.

So I booted up the game after the update, I have a new title called "Founder". Seems there is definitely some sort of trial/F2P element being announced later today in their stream.

I think I'd put some time into this if it went F2P. I've been tempted to buy it a few times when it was on sale but didn't because I didn't think it would have a playerbase. If it goes F2P then the chances of getting into a game should be pretty high, at least for a while.
From what I've played of the game it's actually decent. I think coming out at the same time as Overwatch just killed it.

It's F2P basically. They're just calling it a trial. Which completely downplays how big of a change this actually is when you read what they've done.
The marketing failure just keeps on failing I guess. It feels like they seriously want to avoid calling it 'F2P' to prove some kind of point.

Indeed- it's hard to imagine why existing players would need to be re-dubbed "Founders" just because a demo is being released.
