I haven't been so pumped up by a demo... ever. If the rest of the game is like this, I can easily see this becoming the best super hero adventure ever made!

Holy shit...

*thinks about 3d superhero games in the past*

...

this demo is the greatest super hero video game ever created

Demo seemed criminally short to me, I would have liked to deal with a group of ten plus baddies in a small area like that first fight.

yeah they should of showcased what the combat would be like if you couldnt just tap square

demo was fun, but I *hate* the way batman looks. having the batman:tas guy do the voice is more than awesome, but hearing his voice while looking at this batman feels wrong to me :\

i dunno, maybe his jaw isn't square enough or something...

I really hope people don't think this is the case. Enemies start to be introduced with weapons like knives that you can't counter normally. It does get deeper. Also, if you play on hard the counter icon is removed.

Not my cop of tea, whats the point of playing the game you already know the plot? thought it looks and controls great, detective mode is awesome :)

I think I'm going to buy the PS3 version over the PC version due to the extra content. The extra joker challenge rooms and the lack of an nvidia card are causing me to lean towards the console end.

And? The counter window is frickin' huge even without the icon (unless they shortened it for the Harder modes). The combat is ok but thankfully it isn't the game's main fuocus.

I dunno, gameplay? Half the games I play I couldn't care less about there being a plot.

I guess, but they should have twisted the things up, maybe playing the whole game from jokers perspective, some dark sick psyco stuf could have been awesome, than again who would fly around? :lol

I've been out of the loop, what is the difference in versions? PS3 has extra content apparently, but what content? And why would not having an nvidia card matter?

I checked the OP to see if this info was there but it wasn't, so sorry if this question has been asked a lot.

Demo was a lot of fun, definitely going to pick this one up.

Edit: Also is there a PC demo floating around? I thought I heard it was coming to steam but haven't seen it pop up yet.

The PS3 version is apparently the only version that has some special Joker-centric challenge missions.

PS3 version gets Joker challenge room DLC, apparently a deal with Sony so it won't be on any other platform.

The lack of an Nvidia card probably refers to PhysX, which the PC version supports.

I knew I'd be regretting not getting an Nvidia card at some point... seems like more and more games are using PhysX.

Oh well, got a great deal on my 4890. Probably will just go with the PS3 version it seems. Does the PS3/360 version have PhysX effects?

Nope.

This demo is amazing. This is, without a doubt, the best beat-em-up I've ever played. Seriously, STEALTH? Who knew it would work so well in this genre, but god damn I love it.

Anyone else notice in the very first area of the demo, one of the abandoned cell rooms has green question marks painted all over it.

A quiet homage, or Riddler confirmed? :o

360 and PS3 versions are pretty much the same?

PS3 version gets an exclusive mode where you can play as the Joker.

You can even find Riddler trophies. He has to be in the game.:D

Demo was great. Its nice to see a superhero from a comic book have a game that doesn't suck. The graphics were nothing to scream about, but the overall art direction seems pretty spot on. The stealth aspect is also quite awesome.

That being said, I'll be buying this for sure, but not day 1. Still too many games that I want more. =\

So I was on LIVE playing some Turtles in Time then I go get some dinner. Turn the console back on to download the demo and it says I need a Gold membership to download...... FFFFUUUUU

Nice timing Microsoft ya big jerks! Hahahaha :(

This is the first game that I've played in which stealth felt like an offensive tactic. After the 3rd playthrough, it's really satisfying taking out guys as quick and as fluid as possible.

...but the only complaint I have is that Gordon isn't voiced by Bob Hastings.

"Remember, skills for kills Batman. Skills for kills."

Sorry, but someone had to say it.

Aside from Gordan sounding like he's pushing out a kidney stone, I freaking love the game. Admittedly it's strange hearing Batman state the overly-obvious to himself, but hey, I understand it's for tutorial purposes :D

Demo was fun. I wish there was an option to pull the camera back a little though.
Yea very close camera. It always takes some getting used to for me no matter the game, I like it for shooting but not so much for general walking. I got used to it and I think it helps the cinematic feel but I have never been completely comfortable with it.

I love it in Uncharted since it only comes in for shooting, everything else is much farther.

Played through the demo and thought it was very good. Was quite satisfying to sneak up on enemies and take em down silently.

Just purchased it off Amazon, was already like $7 off and then I applied the promo code "5OFFARKM" on checkout to take another 5 bucks off. Pretty good deal.

i saw the unreal engine and i worried, but now i'm stunned at how good this game looks on ps3. it's freakin gorgeous. game wasn't on my radar at all, but now i'm very interested.

Oh, by the way (I'll spoiler this in case people would just...rather find this themselves :D ):

In the first playable part of the demo where you're taking on the Arkham thugs, if you're facing the doorway which is opened after you beat all of them, in the south-east corner of the room there's a vent you can pry open, with a Riddler Trophy inside (unlocks The Riddler's bio)

As I said before, this games gives me current-gen Tenchu/MGS vibes. So damn good.

Couple of questions:

1. Is there any purpose to first-person batarang throwing other than the aeshetic difference? (Maybe upgradeable controllable batarangs later on?)

2. You can do inverted take-downs when perched on a gargoyle by pressing triangle but you can also hang off the gargoyle upside-down and do the same takedowns. Is there any other purpose to hanging off the gargoyles??

I do it behind guards when they aren't looking just to feel evil. Thats enough. :D

Loved the demo so much, finally a game where you feel like your Batman (& not super human).

Can't wait for this, the right amount of Splinter Cell Lite too.

I read somewhere that the PS3 was 1080i-compatible. Is that true? I played it on a 720p TV last night and it looked great but then I played it on my projector at 1080p and it looked pretty poor in comparison. Lots of shimmering, aliasing etc as if the game was being upscaled far too much. I didn't get a chance to try it on my projector at 720p so I imagine that will fix the problem. Anyone got any ideas?

I've probably played the demo six times now. I think it is brilliant. I've got the 360 version downloading so I can compare them but tbh if the 360 version is crap I'm more than happy with the PS3 version

I played the demo earlier on my PS3, and I was pretty impressed. The framerate seems pretty smooth, and the graphics are very detailed throughout the demo. The artstyle really worked well with the unreal engine to form this dark, gritty, and seemingly hopeless world that only Batman can operate in. I was also pretty happy with how well the combat worked throughout the demo despite the fact that it seems limited to about 3 buttons. The hanging takedowns were exciting, the counters are great for turnarounds, and the silent predator idea really blends with Batman's character. I can't find a single flaw in the game besides
Batgirl being sidelined

Is it better than Hulk: Ultimate Destruction? Because that's pretty much the gold standard.

But you can download it right now on PC and PS3...? I thought Microsoft wouldn't allow cross-platform demos to be delayed?

Just got done Downloading the game on PC D:
And I barely meet the requirements YAY.....Boooooooooooo

Wow for barely meeting the requirements it runs pretty damn well.
ANd fuck yes Batman is the shit :D

I thought it was ok... I can see it getting repetitive though.

It just seems to linear, like enter room jump on set gargoyle to kill set guy, next gargoyle, next guy, door opens ! rinse repeat. Does anyone know if there is any more ways to take the guys out in the game, beacuse to me it's just too forced.... it basically makes you stealth more than mgs, yet gives you less ways to do it. Also the scenery is hardly effected by your batarang at all...

It seems like a solid stealth beat em up, but it's a bit too basic for me, if you put it in an open city with the same mechanics, batmobile and scaleble buildings, you would have an amazing game. I dunno, it's not bad, just feels like a ps2 game with next gen graphics.

The demo was pretty neat, but one thing that struck me is that the Unreal III engine is starting to show its age. Most of the guard models and Gordon in particular stood out as quite... I don't know, overly artificial, somehow... like they were made out of clay or plastic. Kind of reminded me of Doom 3.

After playing the demo, I'm really tempted to pick this up on the PC for $40.

Edit: Instead of just saying "Hurr, dayz one," I think I'll go ahead and elaborate as to why I liked the demo as much as I did.

When I first played the demo, I didn't really like it. In large part, my lack of enjoyment came from stealth mission in the latter half of the demo. My biggest issue was that I simply jumped the gun and got caught consistently. After multiple attempts at the same mission, I simply let the game go and played something else. However, because of all the positive feedback from this thread, I decided to give the demo an second go.

It wasn't until I loaded the game up a second time and watched the splash screen for Eidos and Warner Bros that I remembered what this game was about: Batman. From that point on, I realized that I should be less gung ho about getting through the stealth part and simply take my time to learn the patterns of the enemies. Once I had done that, everything fell into place. And for the first time in a long while, I actually felt as if I was playing Batman in a Batman video game.
