Are there any costume changes in this game to speak about? Not saying I hate the costume choice. I just dont prefer it. And Im talking about changes from the get go. I know this is a tall order but I would LOVE if thats the case.

I hope so too, even if it would come as DLC ( let's hope not though ).

He would say things like, "He's right behind you"
and then the guy would quickly turn around
and then he say something like, "Opps, just kidding."

Hamill is awesome.
You know whats crazy. I was right behind the dude when he said that.:lol

I just finished playing the demo. So fucking awesome :D

Just wondering, does the CE include an actual copy of Arkham Asylum because I'm seeing it on the list of included items but it's sayings its only like 16 pages. I could've sworn when I read it it was over 100.

I made a new pc last month. For the first time in my life i regret for going with ati. Game looks pretty awesome even without that physx thing tho.

I made a HD video playing over most of the demo, trimmed it up in places to fit into 10 minutes. Most of us have played it already but for those who have not or have no access to it, here you go.

I would love to see an Arkham pc benchmark prog
My cheap gaming pc (gtx 260, core2duo 2.8) can run this demo at 60fps if I turn physix off, with it on I can easily run the game at a solid 30, it runs very well, but we have only experienced the indoor areas so far.

The demo's awesome, really makes you feel like Batman. I'm flat broke at the moment but I really want this.

I love the fluidity of the combat and the way you can string together moves intuitively. Charge someone then do a diving roll to leap over them and attach from behind, knock him out and then just disappear into the shadows in one fluid move.

I think the best thing to come from this generation has been the fact that some developers are really beginning to realise how important movement and animation are.

Pwnage about to be served. Plus while looking at this pic I took I realize there is suit damage 0_0. This is running on a PC mind you with PhysX at normal.

:lol If you can, stand behind that guy that talks to the joker on the monitors and turn the camera around in the way you did above. Then screenshot it for me.:D

Definitely one of my fave moments. He's talking about taking me out when I'm less than 5 inches away.

Serious Bat is Serious.

I know you didn't ask me but hey, I had taken the picture already.lol

For people worried about the easy combat, you should try to play the in-store demo that are on various PS3 kiosks. That demo features two combat challenge rooms, and the second one is a lot more challenging than anything in the demo that you guys played. Batman's attacks are still pretty simple to perform, but things get more challenging when you are fighting 9 guys and one has knives, several have clubs, and another can get a gun.

I don't know why somebody as sensitive to tearing and frame drops as yourself never seems to play anything on the PC.

That would be like surrender to this visual disease. I'm fighting for a world free from aliasing and tearing.

Seriously tho, I can' be bothered with a PC because...

That's healthier than having your life taken over by constant hardware upgrades and patch downloads. :P

You still in BK? Cause you should really check out the challenge-room demo.
Yeah man I live here. :lol

I checked it out at the Best Buy in SoHo a few months back. It was pretty cool but the PS3 controller they had was horrible - the left stick was all kinds of fucked up, but I managed.

Ever been to kings plaza? That's the 2nd place I found the demo. Target near the Flatbush/Brooklyn College 2-Train stop had it as well.

To give you our perspective... I was talking to Sefton Hill (the game director) yesterday about the demo and we kind of agreed it sells the game a bit short - there were a lot of discussions before it was released about whether it does the full game justice. Personally, I feel it sells it a bit short because the best thing about the full game is the story. There are two or three moments that will blow.. you.. away.
What's awesome is that I enjoyed the demo as-is. To know it'll get better makes me :D

About 8 months ago I predicted that this game was going to blow just like the countless other crap Batman games over the past decade. Can you really blame me?

I've come here today to admit that I was terribly wrong :(

Game has come a long way from the older retial kiosk demo.

While its good I couldnt help but think if the combined Crackdown's gameplay and open world with this it would be sooo damn awesome.

I can seem to run everything on high and play nice and well, but I want a smoother framerate, what's are some good stuff to turn off that will boost my fps? Or has someone else tinkered with the UE3 .ini already?

Not played the demo on the consoles yet but playing it on my pc and I was surprised to be able to run it at pretty much the highest you can (except for PhysX). 9800gt, Core 2 Duo E7400, 4gb ram blah blah blah.....but yeah, the demo is good and I really enjoyed shredding the police tape up with the batarang.

Physx man!

And the counter system-I'm liking that, double tapping A to jump over a henchman, press Y to catch a kick to my back and then owning those motherfuckers. Playing with the 360 pad seems a little easier for me

e:What does the highest option in the PhysX setting mean?Does it recommend two graphics cards?

What enemies will be in the final game?
There's a chance to see Penguin, Two Face and Catwoman?

Catwoman does not really fit into the Arkham gimmick , though she may turn up...
Penguin and Two Face I think are definitely possible

I guarantee that I've spent less time on my constant hardware upgrades and patch downloads over the last 2 years I've had this computer than you've spent complaining about PC games on GAF.

(This goes for just about the entire comfy couch contingent too. I don't mean to single you out.)

I am so, so glad that it isn't open-world. So glad. The masterstroke of this game is setting it in a closed environment.

Me too. Open world is what eventually broke down the EA Dark Knight game, remember.

I'm glad that game never materialized, if only because it would have taken attention away from this game. :D

Well I'll be damned.

Interesting how I'd get gash marks from getting punched and kicked, though.

The marks and cuts on Batman's cape and suit is done as the game progresses. It's predetermined, and Batman even gets a stubble as the game continues. The developers already addressed this in an interview.

Makes sense, fighting all those baddies and all.

So by the end you're all raggedy and beaten up, Die Hard style? Awesome.

Damn a stubble? Sounds like a few days in the Asylum.

Can I spend even more time in the Asylum and grow a full Jeff Bridges/Max Payne 3 beard?

EDIT: Nvm just read your new post. :(

It's basically restarting the game after you've finished it, with all your stats from the ending intact.

Ah, sorry, see my earlier comment about last night's excesses.

When you have finished a story game you can keep walking around game doing the riddles and finding all the hidden stuff if you want.

MMaRsu said:
People complaining about the demo being easy are dumb. Simple as that.. First of all it's a demo lol, and second it's the intro + tutorial. If you can't understand that then I wouldn't want to be you.

Yeah, true. We should have put difficulty levels in the demo. Hard mode is hard.

The only other costume for Batman is the armored Batsuit, which you can get with various retailers straight way or unlock when you clock the game on easy.

The comic that comes with the CE isn't the lovely graphic novel or anything, but it has Wildstorm art and is pretty cool.

Hope some of that helps people.

I just saw the PhysX comparison vid on YouTube, and man, I'm pissed none of that is in the PS3 version. Lazy programming confirmed. Killzone has most of those kinds of effects, I want them in Batman too!

Keir, couple questions:

1. Is the demo set to Easy or to Normal?
2. I've heard that was well as giving you less health/damage resistance, setting it to Hard turns off the prompt for counter attacks. Does it change anything else?

That's cool. So let's get this straight: after you finish the story the whole of Arkham becomes available for you to explore, right? What about the enemies? Do they respawn so one can hunt them down again? (I mean the normal grunt enemies, not the bosses).

Bummer that there aren't any more costumes :(

You get the Armored Batsuit for beating Easy? Really? Shouldn't it be a reward for beating the hardest difficulty setting instead of the easiest?

Anyway, thank you for answering my earlier question.

I soo can't wait to get my hand's on the full game. Do you know if there's an option in the European (precisely German) version to switch to English dialogue?
