Wow that animation was so distracting. Just that shot in the beginning of batman walking down a hallway... what was there 10 frames total?

Pretty sure Young Justice had much better animation than this too, lol.
Hell, we can go back to JLU. You can make arguments about the art style, but the animation was apt.

I wish WB just invested like 20mil on this, made it look fucking amazing and release it in theaters. I do think it would make a profit if WOM was good enough.

Does this use some form of tweening? It looks like it... janky.

The gif is at a slightly different speed than the actual animation was, or at least t looks that way. So it's playing just sliiiiiightly too fast in the gif and comes out looking like it was tweened by a motion enhancing TV.

TBH, while it could look better in places, I don't think this looks that bad. If you pick out specific parts, yes, but overall it's not bad with what they have to work with. The preview they put on the disc with JL vs TT also shows how they went with the art style they did for it, since getting Bolland's art to animate would be nearly impossible or even look really off.

It's a similar reason why Fist of the North Star looks weird in the TV series but the movie, that was rather expensive to make, looks almost EXACTLY like the manga.

WB and DC are already catching flak for making a straight-to-DVD movie of this. Giving it a bigger budget and releasing it in theaters would create a shit storm. And DC is already busy dealing with one right now.

That's how I've felt about DC animation for years.
Again: I don't understand that sentiment. We had a lot of decent DC animation in the recent years. It was no Ghibli, but devil spank my ass with a spiked paddle, if most movies and tv shows didn't look good.

I just noticed something.

I think a "Debuts on Netflix" feature sounds more classy than "Direct to video" at this point.

I wonder if it's in the cards to sell Netflix on some animated DC features, and possibly get a higher animation budget out of it? Because if direct to video stuff is only afforded this kind of budget and looks so god damn shitty, I'd rather not have it at all. It's a complete waste of Hamill and Conroy.

I haven't been pleased with the animation quality of anything after Justice League Unlimited ended.

These two things are really terrible. The way the prison guard disappears into nothing along with the door makes him seem like he has some magical power to walk through surfaces. And Batman walking is weird. Maybe they slowed the animation down for that one?

Still, I'm looking forward to watching this even though the quality of animation ain't looking hot. I don't know what the budget is for this thing, but I know that there are animations from decades ago that look a lot better than what we see in this trailer. That's pretty sad.

Does Conroy just not give a shit anymore? His batman has progressively gotten worse and worse to the point where it sounds like he isn't even trying anymore.

Wow, what shit.

How disappointing.

Young Justice looked pretty good.

And so did Assault on Arkham.

Young Justice looked super good. I just have to assume most people here didn't watch it, for how detailed the character designs were the animation was on point for that show.

Disappointing that the majority of DC's DTV stuff doesn't get the budget/time in the oven it deserves. If they actually marketed these they would justify the extra money.

Love Hamill's voice work on Joker but that looks reaaaal cheap. Kind of surprised as if you're going to adapt a work that's held in pretty high stature in the medium I figure you'd at least give it a decent budget/effort.

Hamill's Joker laugh though. GOAT.

Okay, seriously, I love YJ, I seriously, genuinely do. But that action cam moving all the freaking time any time ANY fighting is happening was annoying as hell. It crept its way into the DCAU movies and has been slowly working its way back out (thank god) but the fake motion blur and constant camera movement and all that is just annoying to watch in animation.

Every new snippet of this they release is just so disappointing.

It's like they are asleep at the wheel - the team seem so numb during the talking heads of the behind the scenes. They can't be proud of this.

lol just seen this on IMDB. I don't get it. It's fucking Batman. How do they not get budget for one of the biggest brands in the world? It might not be live action, but this still seems crazy.
The animation already irritated me in Dark Knight Returns. No way I could ignore... this. I'm not interested in buying comics, so this is all a shame for me.

The animation looks pretty bad :(

Should've gotten Madhouse
