You will get a good trailer. And then a Zack Snyder movie. I don't understand some fan's expectations.

Zack is capable of making a great movie, Watchmen is still his greatest work IMHO. But then you also get the Sucker Punch and MoS where he falls short and just makes an okay movie. His trailers are usually fucking incredible though. That MoS trailer #3 still gives me goosebumps, the movie looked so incredibly good from that one trailer.

The first actual trailer for BvsS should be incredible at any rate.

Nothing in IL?

C'mon. That Guardians of the Galaxy promo was all over.

DC, you need all the help you can get. Shell out the cash, make this more widespread, and do it next month instead of 5 days after the announcement.

It probably was. They remove locations once they get to a certain point beyond sold out.

Are any of you going to an actual IMAX theater or the digital one? If it's the latter, it obviously won't have the same effect. Sold out here in NYC (no surprise) so I'll wait until the evening of that day for the home unveiling.

Don't forget his Dawn of the Dead, which was fantastic IMO.

I really like Watchmen, but I don't think it's a great. It has parts of a great movie that are very loosely held together and interrupted by stretches of a mediocre movie. It's really uneven.

Seems like a lot of people have already forgotten Man of Steel and are up on the hype train again. I'll probably watch it but I have zero expectations that it'll actually be a good movie no matter how shiny the trailers are. I'm also not watching teasers for teasers. Fuck that practice.

The Dark Knight teaser is how you actually do it.

"You crossed the line first, sir"

"Starting tonight, people will die *gleeful cackle*"

Perfect introduction to the clown prince and sets up expectations surrounding Batman in just a few seconds. Genius.

Or some of us remember Man of Steel and get super excited....

I would be super happy if this were the teaser.

It does enough to showcase the two main players and wet your appetite without spoiling anything at all... maybe would have asked for better music

Yep. Man of Steel was sweet. I'm excited.

I'm thinking the musical score probably hasn't even been composed yet.

Don't forget his Dawn of the Dead, which was fantastic IMO.

Yep, DotD is my second favorite ZS movie after Watchmen, and one of my favorite modern horror movies actually. I honestly prefer his to the original. I also like 300, although I seem to like it less upon repeated viewings.

Conversely, I really didn't care for Sucker Punch at all, and MoS has some great scenes but the film just left me disappointed, overall it just felt very inconsistent and joyless.

Time will tell where BvsS falls on the Snyder scale. Personally I'm keeping my hype in check, after MoS I just can't let myself get that hopeful again.

This is how I felt after I saw it in the theater, but now that I own the director's cut I feel that it is an incredible film. The DR added and fixed a lot with the original release. IMHO it's one of the best superhero films ever made, and I'd put it right up there with the Nolan Batmans, Avengers, CA:TWS, and GotG.

If you like that movie then by all means, chances are you're going to like this one as well. I remember the general reception not being great though. I personally enjoyed some of the action scenes but disliked the movie as a whole.

The only problem I had with Man of Steel was Papa Kent's death. Donner did it perfectly, they should of kept it that way. Maybe Goyer secretly hates his father or something.

It'd be cool if this teaser was like that, and played solely from Superman's perspective.

Lex and Supes in a room

"I need your help in apprehending a terrorist"
"Whats his name"

End shot

BOOM

I don't think I'd call this a teaser. It's two minutes long, that's normal trailer length. I think they had a teaser ready for last December but that's not what we're going to see Monday. Monday is going to be what Junkie XL said he was just scoring a couple weeks ago.

I think people who didn't like Man of Steel should see this movie, cause from what I hear from the rumors is that the Batman in BvS also hated what happened in Man of Steel too. lol.

plz no

I just don't want Supes being used, adds onto the "Supes is dumb" stereotype and once again puts Batman in the spotlight. This should be Superman's movie first. I hope the motive is more than just lex persuading one party to go after the other.

You can expect the worst, but honestly it seems like WB have been receptive t criticism (especially with regards to Goyer) gonna keep my hype in check.

I imagine that Batman would be the pursuer, i.e. Lex Luthor, Man of Steel, which is a fantastic read.

I'm not a big fan of MoS (it's also not the pile of shit some people claim it is) but I'm still hyped for this. When Goyer got the boot and Terrio stepped in it was a good thing.

Amen and amen. I'm excited and I actually don't want to see much at this stage. As great as the fervor was around the Force Awakens trailer, the discussion died down relatively quickly and people were already on to the next set of spoilers and media they could dig through.

I suspect the main purpose of the trailer is less for fans and ticket sales, but more to show and gauge fan engagement in order to bolster licensing and marketing partner negotiations which are coming up fast for BvS.

Basically, if this consumes a news cycle and captures hits and all those other metrics people like to point to, then that's leverage at the negotiation table when discussing how much a licensee is going to pay to be a part of Batman v. Superman.

I think there were lines like that in MOS which sets up BVS...

"When the world finds out what you can do it's gonna change everything. Our beliefs, our notions of what it means to be human. Everything."

"People are afraid of what they don't understand."

"Can you imagine how people on this planet would react if they knew there was someone like this out there?"

...cut with scenes of protestors, Capitol Hill, and Batman.

I think your view has been influenced by a loud minority. Everyone I knew at the time really enjoyed MoS. Between that anecdotal evidence, reviews, and ticket sales, I refuse to believe the general concensus on MoS is that it is a terrible movie.

BvS will deliver.

Trailer events. Oh what a world.

It's kind of funny though.. you reminded me of something

I remember end of last year, we had some thinkpieces on how Warner/DC doesn't connect with their fans the same way that Marvel does.

Warner announces their slate of movies at an investors' conference. Disney/Marvel has this big event at a single theater to reveal new movie titles and actors.

now Warner does this but find it funny how many are saying it's silly. When this is kind of what they are asking for. DC is doing a big thing for the fans. This can't be cheap.

But it's also silly.. I mean lining up for.. what will be a 2 min teaser... 11 months out (almost exactly) seems strange.

I'm reserving judgement until the actual teaser, but yeah, this didn't really hype me up.

I really doubt they'll come anywhere close to topping this masterful teaser though.
Seeing this teaser just made the reality of this new movie more annoying to me. It looks so... cheesy. I get that they want to compete with Marvel and all by having a huge universe, but I feel like it's so unnecessary. For the Batman franchise, at least. The Dark Knight was such an iconic movie, not just for super hero movies but film as a whole, and it seems so unnecessary to already be trying to shove the Joker into this new universe and start a new universe.

I dunno! I'm a bit biased. TDK was like... my favorite movie ever as a kid, I don't wanna see the franchise bastardized :(

I would point out, that it would be 8 years since we last saw the Joker on the big-screen by the time the Suicide Squad comes out

And I like the idea (in theory) of introducing him outside of Batman gives them new dynamics to explore.

This isn't connecting with fans, though. Now, if they had all these events with q&a's from people involved in the movie, that'd be different but they could put the trailer online today and let people watch without this stupid limited release bullshit.

I remember it being rumoured, and it might have been hinted at in the set photos, but there is no better way to start this film that
to show Bruce Wayne rescuing some of the people of Metropolis while Superman battles Zod. That sets up a confrontation so well.

Gosh, I hope this trailer is more substantial than the first Man of Steel one.

You don't think hosting an event where fans can gather to get a sneak peek is connecting with their fans?

I mean I think this is the right amount of pandering one needs this early.

No, I think that Warner is unnecessarily making an event out of a trailer without going through the effort of actually making it worthwhile. They're gonna have people line up to see a 2 minute trailer and that's it. As big a Batman fan as I am, I'm not going to waste my time on that nonsense. Just release the damn thing online and let everyone watch.

yeah man of steel wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. the action scenes alone put it up there IMO. and given the talent involved in this production I have a good feeling.

I also really enjoyed Man of Steel despite it's pretty obvious flaws. I'm not a Superman guy and I didn't really care for Superman Returns.

I'm approaching BvS with a lot of cautious optimism.

You just reminded me that Man of Steel never gave these themes any proper thought or consideration.

1 thing that Batsuit shot makes me hope for is an absolutely ridiculous Batcave.

Vehicles everywhere regardless of them ever being used in this series.
