Battleborn or Overwatch? Which should I get and why?

They are fairly different, Battleborn is a moba, and gearbox claims it'll have full single player campaign, though we haven't really seen much on that front.

Overwatch is TF2 style, an FPS and if the closed beta is any indication will have pretty good post launch support. It's also by Blizzard so it's pretty likely to have a lasting community.

Battleborn is first person

Overwatch is PvP only unless you count endless bot practice mode. Not for me.
Battleborn has some attempt at a campaign, and co-op.

I'll be going with Battleborn, if I get either.

Overwatch has no single player campaign, but is made by Blizzard.

Battleborn has a single player/co-op campaign and competitive multiplayer and is made by Gearbox.

Honestly I might get both depending on the upcoming betas.

I've played Overwatch during stress test weekend, and I haven't had that much fun with a multiplayer game in a LONG time.

thats all I needed to know that it was going to be my most anticipated MP game of 2016.

Haven't played battleborn so no clue on that one.

Overwatch easily. It's the better game and Blizzard will likely continue to support it for a long time.

What? How can this even be stated at this point? I like the aesthetics of Overwatch more, but it only having PVP multiplayer is a disadvantage to me.

It can be stated because it's Blizzard. They're known for supporting multiplayer games for decades. Even if the games get sequels.

If Overwatch had a single player campaign, I probably wouldn't touch Battleborn as Blizzards reputation for quality and support is legendary. But as Battleborn has a single player/co-op campaign and I love Borderlands...I don't know. Will wait for each beta to make up my mind.

ugh, BattleBorn will have random loot and you can bring it into their MOBA'ish (Incursion) mode I've just read. That sounds like Destiny and other MMOs where you have to grind to compete

Was thinking to at least give that game a go but now I fear it will simply cater to people that put in the time to gather all the random loot. <puke>

Well I was already going with Overwatch anyways

Has anyone here purchased an Overwatch Origins Edition key from cdkeys? It's $54.49 CND right now, which is pretty tempting given how crappy Canadian game prices are lately.

Do we have any indication that the single player will be different from "the multiplayer, but with bots and some tacked on story"?

My friend has, you won't get the game code until much closer to release date so by buying it now all you are doing is committing and paying that price in case it goes up.

Im going to try Battlebornes open beta in April. I was going to skip it until I heard Totalbiscuit and crew talk about it on the Co-optional podcast. Missed my chance at overwatchs closed beta.

I wouldn't mind committing to the price, actually. I know The Division went up 15-20 dollars at release. Seems to the norm for games on there. Might pull the trigger on this tonight, because everything I've read about the game is overwhelmingly positive.

Umm, I played the alpha and it had a co-op mission, well half of a co-op mission. It had mission objectives and a boss and took around 15-20 minutes to complete and was only half of the actual mission supposedly. So yeah, I would say it has an actual campaign.

I think the upcoming beta is suppose to have 2 full missions.

Overwatch.
Why would you buy anything associated with Randy Pitchford?

Lots of people here played the technical beta, and it already had a sp level. But I suspect it won't be very long. 6 hours maybe. And it was a bit dull.

Overwatch looks incredible, will almost immediately have a large community, and will be supported by Blizzard for years. I put a lot of trust in Jeff Kaplan.

Try both, decide. I'd be very surprised if 90% of people didn't choose Overwatch after betas.

Both games are also part of the Best Buy $10 pre order program, and GCU gives an additional 20% off, so you'd be paying $38+tax if you pre order from there for console or PC. Should trade in for $30 the first 2-3 weeks so pretty cheap rental either way.

Battleborn plays like shit. I was surprised at how bad the game actually was when I played the closed beta.

It's terrible.

Overwatch is fantastic. Especially with a group of friends.

Battleborn is going to be a dead game in a matter of weeks.

From what has been seen and played, which will be the more user friendly and "better" online experience?

Based on your qualifier, get Overwatch no doubt about it. I personally believe Battleborn is going to be a huge mess.

I think Overwatch is super dope based on playing the closed beta for a while. Not gonna shit on Battleborn though since I haven't played it. It seems like an amalgamation of multiple concepts from other games I enjoy, so I'm actually looking forward to trying it out when the beta arrives. It was kind of shitty seeing people break NDA to talk about how bad the game was instead of relaying it to the developers directly as feedback.

Best Buy doesn't do trade ins for new releases anymore it seems. I had to wait 2 weeks for Far Cry to appear in their system.

For instance you can't trade in Trackmania atm.

I'd say Overwatch, it's Blizzard so it will begin with a decent sized community and a hell of a lot more momentum / excitement.

Battleborn sounds like a labor of love, but seeing as how it's Gearbox, that doesn't guarantee in any way whatsoever that it will be a good product.
