Battlefield 1943 for PSN/XBLA/PC

Shacknews is reporting this is coming out on PC, along with a PC version of BC2.

What the hell are all you crying about? a remake of one of the best online PC shooters for cheap and everyone here is down on it?

lame! a map pack for full price and a sequel to one of the most broing battlefield games? EA is back in business!

It's only 3 maps.

pc gamers don't want to play a battlefield game that's been optimized for consoles. especially in lue of true sequel to bf2.

wake island is all you need. Modders will fill in the rest. (on PC at least)

I hope this comes to PC but either way this is awesome, the frostbite engine is sweet.

We don't know that it's optimized for consoles, Dice's last PC release was made first for consoles and it was fantastic on PC.

As to the whole only 3 maps argument... dude, people only played 3 maps in BF1942. That's like complaining that a new counterstrike only has dust, dust2, and office, that's all people are gonna play anyways.

that wasn't a battlefield game.

pc franchises that are optimized for console playability/restrictions which are then ported back to pc are nearly always worse than their predecessors, or atleast lose many of the core elements that people used to love about them.

nearly every new battlefield thread is initially peppered with "where is my bf3?" comments. it's clear where the fanbase lies, and what they want.

Wasn't BF3 supposed to be an Iraq war thing? I believed I read some info about it ages ago. Maybe it war just rumours. Still dissappointed by no real Battlefield sequels, as BF2 and 1942 are two of my most favorite games.

Day one baby! Day one!!!

I am more hyped for this game than Killzone2 right now. BF 1942 was one of my all time favorite games.

Not sure why all the hate (although I can understand if from the PC crowd). As a big Bad Company fan this is great news... I love the frostbite engine and all this BF news lately is making me happy.

They're developing and releasing two Battlefield console games?

Dude, that's weak. Bundle them or something. >:\

so its basically 1942 but with less maps? uh?

oh just watched trailer, all is forgiven

DO WANTS

they better do custom soundtrack on the ps3 version

There both coming to PC as well. One is a full game, one is just a DLC game. The DLC one will be ready before the full game to hold us over.

Exactly. I wasn't too impressed with the specs on paper, but the video sold me.

It really looks like BF 1942 reborn with HD next gen graphics!

If BF2 was patched properly (with widescreen support) it would've been my favorite game ever. Never tried out 2142. I really don't want to go back to World War 2, though.

After playing BF1942 for hundreds of hours and BF2 for half as long I found BF2142 to be absolute garbage. I can't explain why, just that it didn't have the magic of the earlier ones. If you're interested in it though, I think you can still find the combo pack (game + expansion) at Walmart for $20.

Wake island :D
That map was so awesome in BF1942

I got a kick out of nailing planes with the coastal batteries. BOOOM :lol

I think they should cancel BF: Heroes now because they don't really need two online WWII games.
The gameplay is more important than the setting. Heroes might be in the vein of other Battlefield games but the powerups/skills make it a completely different game.

I have to agree!!! Holy smokes that trailer just gave me chills. I LOVE flying planes on Wake Island!!

It's a standalone XBLA/PSN/PC game.
Oh. That is even better. I thought it was going to require BF:BC.

They could piece by piece remake Battlefield 1942 using this new engine and release it in chunks as DLC and I will fully support it.

I'm really happy both this and Bad Company 2 are coming to PC. I thought Bad Company retained a whole lot of what made BF2 and BF1942 so damn good (and added some badassery). I still haven't bought it, so I'm basing that on the demo, but I do plan on getting it eventually. The game always looked really cool to me.

Dude, get it. You can get it for about $19 nowadays. That's worth it for the singleplayer campaign alone.

Here's wishing that they can get these maps too, Tobruk, Market Garden, Bocage and Battle of the Bulge on top of the current ones. Looks so good, finally getting a Battlefield game on the PC since 2005. About fucking time Dice :)

If it is a success, I can almost guarantee they will remake those maps.

Awesome! Weren't we just talking about how cool a 1943 game would be yesterday?! :lol

I've got first dibs on the Zero... anyone tries to jack it and you're getting a knife to the back! :D

Exactly. I have no idea why they don't commit the resources to the game. Their games are a huge success on PC. So much money to be made if they did.

You have described what playing this on Xbox Live will be like for many.

Who says they're not? DICE is a pretty large studio, and with the support of EA side projects like these aren't really that big a deal. I would imagine they only allocated 20 or so people to knocking this out. Even with BC2 in development they probably have enough resources to be working on something bigger... only time will tell though!

Great news! I loved BF1942, put so many hours into it online. Nothing better than to parachute onto an enemy carrier then drop TNT all over the deck. Or load a jeep up with TNT and drive it into a flag point or AA gun. It really had the best overall balance out of all the large scale BF games, imo. Also had the best mods, desert combat was sweet.
