Battlefield 2: Modern Combat 360 info and screens

Anyone know if the 360 will have those stupid red diamonds on enemies? Totally ruined the console version for me, couldn't hide in a bush or in grass as a big red marker on your body stuck out like a sore thumb :\

It's pretty good on PS2 as well. Little less draw distance. You don't get the downloadable content either. I can totally see why hardcore pc version players wouldn't like it, but as far as something that mixes the line between a team strategy shooter and arcade style hop in and play, it's about the best I've tried on console. No planes, but you do get helicopters. Just a lot of fun, surprised there aren't more comparable experiences on console.

These shots have an awesome murky quality to them, I can't wait to see how the explosions and gunfire effect the lighting in realtime! :D

For the single player game, Is it safe to say that the mission structure is like a Mercenaries type of game with objectives, (without everything being demolished and weapon/vehicle drops from cargo planes)??

How long is the single player? Can it be played from both viewpoints of the Chinese and Americans?

I read a few reviews on IGN and Gamespot and both really praised the single player more then I would have thought. Basically the game seemed to get low scores because some of the graphics/ sound effects were off and they were comparing it to the PC superior version. I'm hyped for this game now.

no, it's not free form quite in the same way as Mercs. It's arcade challenges using all the different sort of troops, vehicles, abilities (you can hot swap soldiers in line of sight offline) to achieve certain scores and unlock weapon kits, new challenges, etc. Think of it as Burnout but with soldiers. I find it quite fun, but it's not the normal sort of tactical story mode you might expect added on to a multiplayer shooter. It's a shooting range with fun controls and toys where you see score bonuses racking up on screen. You will use different factions and nations in the course of the game.

It's not as interesting a title only offline, I think of the single player mostly as an unusual diversion for the sort of game it is. It's not super short, but I'm not sure you would feel totally satisfied buying it as such.

Like like Modern Combat for PS2 & Xbox (played both), this one is lacking the commander-role & most importantly, AIRPLANES! I thought the PS2/Xbox excluded the aircraft because of the advance physics or something- but still not available on the X360 is unacceptable. Does not help when you are still playing w/ only 24players max. :(

Game is good for console standards, the maps that are always voted/played on are the docking ship port (capture flag), middle eastern town (from the demo/5point terrorities) & a 2 others that I am forgetting now.

I was seriously waiting for an proper BF2 port to the next-gen systems but this is essentially an 'upgraded visual' of the previous gen versions. I still can not believe they did not include the airplanes!!! :( :( :(

Well its clearly no subsitute for the pc game. I recommend Modern Combat highly but Battlefield 2 pc blows this out of the water.

Not sure about Mercenaries since i havent played it. But its a very open type of game. I found the missions and objectives reasonably fun. Single player is what i played mostly in MC as the pc game has much superior multiplayer. You play from all perspectives(sides). But the single player game does seem too big IMO.

There isnt really any story but you get headline news stories telling you whats going on and brefings equivalent to 'meaningless' CSI SFX shots (as the Simpsons police chief says) :P But yeah its only a little like the pc game. For console shooters this is my favourite right now as it adds many things console fps have been missing out on.

Do buy the pc version if you havent already. The console versions are great too in their own way but they have afew stumbling blocks compared to the pc game. Good thing about the 360 version is that you can actually 'see' as the graphics in the last gen version are awful.

"Power up your soldier by executing multiple kills quickly. Increase health, take more hits, do more damage and become an unstoppable force on the battlefield."

For those who are worried, the above quote only applies to the single player mode. Besides, the online play is soo good you won't give a damn about the single player.

Also, for those who keep talking about the lack of airplanes. It's quite simple why they left them out. Because the game limits the games to 24 players, the maps are perfectly sized for those numbers. Thus, the maps are simply not big enough to make the airplanes useful or fun to fly. Thats not to say the maps are small but they're just not big enough for airplanes. The helicopters are still in full effect though and they add a lot to the game.

That's a pretty solid descriptor for the offline. I suppose a select few may enjoy the constant fireworks, but I couldn't get into the single player. I felt I was being pushed along from sequence to sequence rather than making the fight my own, which is invariably much of the appeal behind a Battlefield title. Besides that, there is an uncanny knack for having enemy spawns pop-up in very unappealing places(like right behind you) which I found intolerable. It didn't take long for me to give up on the offline campaign and never look back.

I'd almost prefer they return to a more skirmish-inspired offline experience, one that rewards technique and creativity in handling scenarios that may seem ripped from the online game. Tossing together rapid-fire rail sequences and an unnecessary 'quantum leap/freejack' gimmick doesn't bode well in preparing you for the true appeal of the game, online.

Cool, I skipped out on the PC Version of Battlefield simply because I was too cheap to buy a new Videocard and had better things to do with $300. I cant wait to pick this up for the X360.
