Of course you are defending these devs. You are siding against the consumers that are talking about missing features.
As if pointing out that a basic feature, that is as important as a scoreboard, could ever be described as crying.
Its good that they actually are listening and trying to fix some of the obvious crappy decisions. That being said ....its gonna take SO SO much more of that to fix that playerbase and community. They really shit the bed on this one.
I disagree completely with your take. It doesn't merely "suck" that its gone, it is indicative how detached this development group and it's leadership team are from the game, the franchise, and the fans. You can't fuckup a scoreboard because you rushed it. It's an overlay of math. A HUD element that can be toggled. You can change its style, font, opacity, color and make it sleek or whatever - but you can't fuck it up cause you "rushed it". After 3 years, is it really a rush job at this point? Who are we kidding here? Scoreboards and server browsers are BASIC FEATURES of Battlefield, for like 20+ years.Whos making an excuse? I literally stated "It sucks that it was gone".
I'm simply not focused on crying about this every time they fix something.
More focused on updates, fixes and corrections to the game that make it better, not being negative 100% of the time bud
P PaNaMa nah I disagree. It sucks it was gone, but I'd rather have it working, functional and ready then deal with another broken element. So I can't say there is no quality control or gamebreaking element, I'm not a software engineer have no clue what is going on with their code to pretend that was working weeks or months prior or something. I'd rather simply have it working later and delayed to be done right then rushed, but I'd rather have this entire game delayed for the time needed then this whole trainwreck tbh.
Should have never released this way.
Nah bud, I agree it sucks that it was gone and it should have been there day 1, I mean....I'm literally fucking telling you the game should have been delayed and I'm happy this feature is being worked on in a realistic time frame and not rushed like the rest of the game, I don't see how that is "against the consumers" as you think someone must be in fucking tears over this EVER TIME in order to be a consumer or something lol
You are mad at news of them fixing and addressing a feature, that sounds more like siding against consumers then anything tbh. Sorry I'm not as upset as you on them fixing the game or something lol
Agreed completely. At this point what ever they got planned, they are right to stay tight lipped and put it out when its actually ready to go. They need like 4 Pacific BFV updates back to back at this point lol I don't know what would really fix it or get people on board.
All of BF3 and Bad Company 2's maps, remake of Metro map but in the future (likely a given) adding on all of BF4 and Bad Company 1's maps.
Its hard to say, as I think all that sounds great, I don't really know how many really would care if all of that was really added in.
Making the specialist optional, allowing default classes in 2042, allowing all the weapons in the game, in 2042's main maps (I still don't even get the point of separating all of that as 2042 is the future and a fucking lawless one at that, no pats are literally without a nation, why would it matter if one of solders had a Type 88? lol )
If all of that is done, I don't even know if its enough to fix this entire thing, but I don't really know these days, for all we know this game goes on to move massive units and they delay putting out another BF to allow the new DICE structure to focus longer on BF's next title or something.
Like how we saw SFV have a whole generation of content, twas a massive fuck up at launch, but a full generation of support is also pretty good too. So who knows with this one. I feel the MP community moves on fast so its hard to tell.

I don't now about their engine and how that is added and all the other issues they had to say how soon it should be out or not.
If it was taken out based on a design choice and just of now was worked on to be put back in, I just can't say it SHOULD be this long or that long etc.
All we know is that this game was rushed out, missing many key features that should be day 1 basic features and by your own post a detached development....I agree, but that is why I agree with the time it will take.
They fucked up too much already right? The whole fucking launch was a fuck up, I'd rather avoid that and have this worked on properly as I have no clue when they even started this thing to pretend it should be here today or something lol
Put it this way, I didn't even put much faith in this game coming out in Nov 2021, let alone the score board not being fucked up cause it was worked on for 3 years, the whole game was worked on for that long and look at all the issues lol I trust that they fucked this game up royally, I trust that enough to believe if they need more time, it should be given so I'm not complaining about it coming out next month. I'd rather have it working and functional.
Sooooo a scoreboard, a few fixes, some optimizations and that's it??
Their engine is Frostbyte and it always had a scoreboard.
Even when it was used on games by other studios, it had a scoreboard.
It´s not some mystical feature that only programing genius can implement. But it´s the thing that incompetent devs can screw up.

It's Frostbite, the scoreboard code exists in their game for decades. If they were not sure how to write one from scratch, they could literally copy/paste and debug it from there.
I agree, but I don't know why they didn't have one this time. If it was by design and now they just started putting one back based on being incompetent, I can't just pretend as if I know WHEN That would really be lol Sure it should have been day 1, but neither of us have a time machine and the original designer is gone now....
So all we know is that the new leadership is listening to that feedback, got them working on a new scoreboard, its coming mid to late next month, I just don't know enough about that situation to really say when it really should be here no matter how normal it was before, if someone dropped the ball at launch, during development etc I don't see the use in pretending as if thats relevant now with new leadership literally working on bringing it back, for all we know the time its taking to come back, is the amount of time it really would have taken if put in normally like those past BF titles.
Lots of should haves with this, should have been delayed, should have listened to more feedback etc, but whats done is done, if you or I were in the shoes of Zampella and was like "we need that scoreboard back asap" what if asap really is February?
So if it was handled by incompetent devs before and it wasn't even some glitch but it wasn't designed at all and was never made to be in the game, it means they still need to make one, so from that point on, its really hard to say when it should be here when you factor all of that.
Exactly, it's indicative of the direction Dice wanted to take the series. I said it in another thread, these aren't "missing features" in the sense that they rushed the game, these were obviously designed this way from the beginning. These changes were planned, and whatever that's their prerogative. It's their ip they can do what they feel but it's very obvious these changes aren't what Battlefield players are looking for. So now it's a mad scramble to reverse these changes as quickly as possible.
Which...good luck. I've had some good times with the game, enough so that I'm going to shelve it when Dying Light 2 releases instead of selling it off, but I'm going to drop it and return later in the year to see what else they've changed.
h, they could literally copy/paste and debug it from there.
My concern is, no one at the studio seems to understand why everyone is so mad.
from what I've seen anyways, seems to be "the community expects too much"
funny enough it just harps on how the developers haven't learned anything in YEARS. They are so out of touch with their fanbase and have been for such a long time. They bumbled around so hard with BF5 from PR to balance changes and general problems.Exactly, it's indicative of the direction Dice wanted to take the series. Fuck, where is this from?
I'll just sit here and wait for march for the apologists to tell how there were no mistakes releasing this complete and not flawless masterpiece
Deez nutsFuck, where is this from?
Deez nuts

So, if you are right and it was taken out as a design choice, it only reenforces my point that the leadership team is out of touch with its game, and its fan base. No excuses should be made for the people in charge. The scoreboard is just the most obvious glaring thing people point to, but adding it back in doesn't address 99% of what is wrong with this game. It is sterile man. The maps are dogshit (I have to work now, so no time to write an essay but suffice to say the map design is horrible.....the question is does anyone left at the studio know *why* the maps are horrible? And Why are there no weapons. Why was that UI allowed to continue past alpha? How did it pass a weekly meeting 2 years ago? Why Can't I manage my squad? Where is the voice chat? There is no quality control in seemingly *any* decision made about this game's direction. Not in any fucking single aspect.
I agree with you that it will take a lot of time to fix. My concern is, no one at the studio seems to understand why everyone is so mad. It's like they don't even realize what makes Battlefield Battlefield anymore. How could they ship a game that was so "ahead of schedule" in their minds. That's my real concern. Genuinely makes me doubt there is any saving this title. Does anyone there really want to fix the game? does anyone there even know how to? DICE's response so far, from what I've seen anyways, seems to be "the community expects too much" which is indicative they really have lost the plot.
BF4 is number 1BFV is $15 on PSN right now and Im sure you can pick up BF4 for even cheaper. Both still have active servers
Well duh, no one wants a rushed product/update but it's sad the community even has to beg for this feature and it won't come out until mid to late February. 4 months after launch lmaoSo it should be rushed out instead or? Plus if you look at the list, more then a scoreboard is being worked on.
I'd rather a realistic timeframe, then some rushed shit like what we got at release.
Take their time, focus on a quality updates.
Evil DeadFuck, where is this from?
I remember how many sleepless nights i had with BF3/BF4. Can we at least get Battlefield 4 remaster with next gen graphics and destruction..
DingdingThis game will be as dead as a dead dingos donger
Whats bananas is if they remastered 3 and 4 as one package at higher resolution and running at a solid 60 fps, they would sell an absolute shit ton of copies of this. Would it be lazy? Sure but I would still buy it.
What if they just ditch the 2042 core game and focus on moving toward total support of Portal?
Sad part was I had so much fun playing Portal on day one. So many people were playing it. A shame where it all went.
yep, and they play great, bf5 looks great on ps5BFV is $15 on PSN right now and Im sure you can pick up BF4 for even cheaper. Both still have active servers
Sooooo a scoreboard, a few fixes, some optimizations and that's it??
ut it's sad the community even has to beg for this feature and it won't come out until
Because I am far more pessimistic than you. Yea sure they "listened to feedback" blah blah blah. Hype product up, release the game in a broken and embarrassing state. Come out saying we will do better; we are listening. Patch the game up and complete it for a year or two until an acceptable condition. Rinse and repeat.yea its sad they need to listen to feedback, its sad this didn't come out at launch and they didn't have a time machine blah blah blah lol
Might as well just fucking say this every time a feature or content or update is made. Community gave feedback, a feature is coming based on that feedback, you have to wait for it to be properly made, how someone can force this into some "sad" thing is beyond me, but it seems like this news has upset some lol I've said several times this game should have been delayed, these features should have been day 1 etc, but the focus on new leadership should be what they can do now to correct this game vs crying about what could have been, should have been, seeking a time machine. I have no clue how the fuck that helps anyone in this situation and it simply sounds like being negative for the sake of being negative regardless of what is being done to correct this situation.
So it simply sounds like you are prepared to copy and paste this every time a update, features or content comes into this whole "sad the community even has to" and or "oh noes it won't come out until" lol I wish it was delayed too and had all these features day 1 as well, I simply choose not to dwell on it every time a feature comes out. Why would I view it being addressed and fixed as bad and um "sad"? smh.

I don't care how good BF4 is now; it took a damn long time to get there. Same with BFV and now 2042. How tiresome.
It's a larger issue of the industry for me. I'm just sick of games released in a broken or very content barren state. It gets really old after a while and I'm starting to feel the weight of that with Halo Infinite too.Maybe lol
BF4 is likely the reason why I trust their post launch support. That game was a fucking wreck at launch and it ended up being one of my favorite online FPS games over time. I don't know if I'd say same with BFV tbh as I felt that games launch was much smoother then BF4, same with BF1, in fact i don't think any BF since BF4 has been as bad as BF4 was that first year as its the first time I literally couldn't play it.
I think its simply because I just don't play other MP titles anymore, I mostly play single player games and BF is the only MP game I focus on nowadays and I'm more willing to focus on those positives, updates, new features, content etc.
Lol this scoreboard is shit
We want old scoreboard...
I think too many publishers are getting away with releasing unfinished games by calling them live services. Fucking halo doesnt even have coop, imagine a halo game without coop. Id honestly rather they have put out infinite next september, feature completeBecause I am far more pessimistic than you. Yea sure they "listened to feedback" blah blah blah. The fans are the problem
While I do really love the gameplay in Infinite (I haven't had this much fun since Reach) I think I am far more lenient with it because it's "free" on Game Pass. If I paid $60 for that game I would be pretty damn pissed. I think I would have preferred to wait as well.I think too many publishers are getting away with releasing unfinished games by calling them live services. At least Sony and Nintendo first-party games come out very polished on day one. Sometimes MS knocks it out of the park as well but the 3rd party publishers are mostly guilty of this.

It really sucked to tell my buddy we couldn't play co-op on day one. We always did that in prior Halo games. By the time it comes out, I probably won't care.
