Can someone give me some hope in what makes this a BF3 instead of just a military shooter.
I cannot shake this negative feeling.
It's Battlefield! It plays like Battlefield! It promotes teamwork, and is fun!zugzug said:man more and more I'm just losing interest it is seeming to be to much of a competitor for that other shooter from Activision instead of being Battlefield 3.

I understand the urge but the smart thing would be to wait until beta at least to better pick your parts.Jtrizzy said:Still trying to decide if now is ok to build my pc for this game or if I should wait till closer to release. I'm doing the $1,500 build and am thinking it won't make much of a difference to wait, and am getting antsy to start buying parts.
I'm not surprised considering this is EA we're talking about.Sethos said:I'm surprised they aren't trying to breathe life into their "Gun Club" concept again through Battlefield 3. While they still have time, I would have expected them to incorporate some challenges to unlock. That Gun Club thing died real fast ...
EA and Dice may have just finished up their Battlefield 3 Alpha Trial run with a select number of PC gamers, but they still have much to prepare before the game sees release this October on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Those who participated in the Alpha Trail should soon be getting emails from EA thanking them for their contribution during the trial and helping prepare the servers for the full release. As a thank you, EA will be giving Alpha Testers priority access to the Battlefield 3 open beta that launches this September.
The full email reads:
We just wanted to update you on our progress with Battlefield 3. We just completed the Alpha Trial and it was a resounding success. We were able to perform a number of server-related tests, including load testing our back end. As a result of everyones feedback, were making a ton of exciting changes to the game. Youll get to check out our progress for yourself in the Open Beta coming this fall, and you will have priority access.
Those that bought Medal of Honor will also be given access to the beta later this year. How much of a priority Alpha Trial testers will be given remains to be seen, but its a nice way to say thanks.
It isn't clear whether all Alpha Trial participants will be given priority access or just select users. Thus far it seems EA is only sending out the beta email to select users.
Couldn't I just go ahead and do the 580/2500k build though and add another 580 if really neccesary? Or is there potential for new cards to come out from nvidia?Nekrono said:I understand the urge but the smart thing would be to wait until beta at least to better pick your parts.

Sethos said:Ha, probably means everyone in the alpha also gets the 48h early access.

heh heh heh, llivin' the dream.
Seriously. Not even funny anymore how they treat some fans (like me).Sn4ke_911 said:So my MoH Limited Edition is now useless or what the fuck is this shit?

I think you guys are gonna be just fine with a 2500k/580 combo, I'm running a 2500k and a 6950 and I was getting 45-60 FPS at 1080p in the alpha, I think the game definitely run better during beta/release.Spinning Plates said:Say my aim to build was for Feb/Mar 2012. You think an i5-2500k + 580 would still be the way to go or would new better stuff be out by then?

Speaking of the Beta now.Nostalgia~4ever said:eh comon now, DICE probably didn't plan to use that many people in the alpha test anyway.

zlatko said:Just saw that email for a free game for being in alpha and pre-order off Origin? Not going to lie this is what they needed to get me to want it from Origin, but before I dip in I have one question:
Does Origin bill me for pre-orders on my credit card NOW or later when the game will be released?
Kyaw said:That's what i want to know too.
Isn't that how it usually is for digital pre-orders anyways? I remember the first game I pre-ordered on Steam was the Orange Box because they were offering beta access and they charged me that same day.zlatko said:I looked it up and apparently they charge you the full $59.99 a day after you order... fuck that. :/
xx: I was wondering: do you also get a 20% off discount count, when it's your birthday, and you don't live in the US?
xx: I just read on a forum someone received it
xx: my birthday was Juli 31st
xx: can give my account details if necessary
Roddy: I want to let you know that these coupons send out to the customers randomly.
Roddy: And we do not have any hold on that.
xx: Ah thats a shame...
xx: ok, one more question then since I'm here
xx: is there any more specific time frame for the start of the BF3 beta?
Roddy: These discount coupons are sent by our marketing department.
Roddy: The beta would be available in September and we do not have any exact dates for that.

Hm... I'll try customer service anyway.
Yeah but that's on retail stuff right? Do they do the same with download only? If so that's pretty cool and the first one I know that does it.zlatko said:Pretty sure Amazon doesn't do that. They won't bill your card until a few days before release.
Well here:zlatko said:I looked it up and apparently they charge you the full $59.99 a day after you order... fuck that. :/

That's true..zlatko said:Can someone take one for the team, and confirm this? I'm curious if this still applies since you technically get Medal of Honor/DS2/ME2, and thus they may charge you right away since you are getting a product.
