Still planning to buy the game, but I've never bought a map pack before and I'm not going to start now, especially not with repackaged old maps at launch. Knowing EA, it will most likely be egregiously overpriced for the amount of content.

For those worried about "pre-order" bonuses, this map pack comes with the Limited Edition version of the game, what that means is that ALL first print copies will have this map pack in it.

Since I'm not going to preorder it on their stupid eadm (I never ever pre order games to begin with and I'd rather sell my pc and find a new hobby than buy a map pack in an mp game) I guess I won't have wake island.

I'll wait 5-6 months till there's been a few patches and you get the map packs with the game.
If that doesn't happen I'll stick with desert combat.
Seriously why does the EA taint have to be on so many of my favorite franchises.

Again its not a pre-order code and knowing how they are treating the PC community like they did with BC2, this will be free for all PC users and in the limited edition of console users.

BC2 PC = VIP with every copy. = "New" Maps (though really, only 4 maps were new) every update to the game with Vietnam being the $15 expansion with 5 maps and a few new weapons.

This: Back to Karkand = Pre-order bonus with VIP for consoles. PC is probably going to have VIP while Karkand may/may not be $5. We don't know until the game releases later this year. To throw a hissyfit this early due to "B-B-BUT THEY'RE ADVERTISING A MAP PACK WITH CLASSIC MAPS! BAWWWWW" is stupid.

This is dumb, I just hope they at least give me the easy option of preording on steam instead of having to track down a local retailer offering preorders for the pc version.

Really the equivalent of this stupid business practice is having a new CS game come out, and only being able to access office and dust through preording/buying LE/buying the map pack. Its splintering the fanbase and is especially unfair to long time consumers who have the most benefit (or most nostalgia) from the legacy maps.

This is going to work in the exact same way it did with BC2. If you buy the game new, you get the maps free. If you buy the game used, you will have to purchase the map pack. There is no reason for everyone to be freaking out about this...

I really hope this is an LE thing and not just a preorder bonus. It would make sense to have 4 extra maps, some new weapons and vehicles for people that buy it right away so that people have some encouragement to pick it up this fall instead of CoD for people on the fence. It would also reward long time BF fans. If it's LE then you won't get a segmented community day 1.

the disks were physically different and had the preorder bonus stuff unlocked, and the entire first shipment plus had the bonuses just unlocked on disk.

Ok so here is how this will work according to 2 of my managers at GS.

ONLY pre-ordered games at GameStop will be the limited edition (probably can find limited editions at places that dont take reserves) from what we understand pre-order gets Limited Edition and all other regular copies will just be the normal BF3.

So yeah guys Pre-order this.
