Battlefield 3 PC Requirements Revealed [Update: Recommended = High]

You actually need a monster PC to run Witcher 2 with ubersampling activated. Without that, yes, it will run just fine on most pc rigs.
Uber yes but that's almost overkill for just (in my opinion) is a small result.

Hope my i5 2500k, 570, and 8gb ram can handle this bad boy on ultra. I'd be happy with 30 fps, I'm excited and optimistic at the same time. Haven't seen a huge multi-platform release do this for a while on PC.

If I just meet the requirements, does that mean I should expect around 30fps or higher? I never know what they mean be requirements. 30fps shouldn't be recommended.

Recommended (in this case) probably means 30 fps solid with most settings maxed out.

Is there 360 controller support? *I've been FPS gaming since Quake and I know the power of K/M combo* Just wanted to know if it's supported.

Recommended is such a dirty word in PC Specs. IMO it should mean the game can be run with most settings up relatively high (if not "maxed out"), at 1080p with some AA and AF, and the FPS should be roughly around 30 most of the time. As it stands, it can mean a whole ton of things.

Also: Are they specifying if by 560 they mean that or the TI card?
i'd assume, since it's mentioned in the same breath as the 6950, which the ti goes toe-to-toe with.

i'm curious if we're gonna see those who ponied up for 2GBs of vram start to yield dividends when it comes to texture resolution.

There is, but there will be no auto aim so pads will be at even more of a serious disadvantage than usual.

2500k @ 4.5
6950 2GB with unlocked shaders
8GB DDR3 Ram

Only problem is the native rez on my monitor (1080p). Hope I can manage 30fps+ on high.

I don't want to buy a desktop to play the game since I travel all the time but damn, I want to play this baby maxed out and my gamer laptop can't handle it.

Any GPU that meets the recommended should. It's your CPU which may surprisingly hold you back if you think you're on easy street. This is a good discussion to have too. I would say that a quad core CPU at 4ghz or higher would not bottleneck you with this seemingly HW killer of a game. So while the game will run on dual cores, you will obviously have to compromise until you scale up higher on the CPU front. I guess that's why I'm particularly excited to see this on my 4.5ghz CPU. The GPU spec does not worry me as much.

I have an i7-920. Surely that could handle it.

I meet the requirments, since my GTX470 essentially is a GTX560. Yay me!

Oh I didn't know that. Stupid me assuming the higher number means better all the time, I should stop trying to make sense.

So I guess I'm clear too.

You'd probably have to monkey around with Xpadder or Joy2Key to get full support. BC2 let you use a few analog axes for movement and vehicles controls, but wouldn't let you aim with it as infantry.

Hey guys I have a GTX 590. Think it'll be enough for this game?

No, and it's your fault to be such a cheap bastard.

So not only were they trolling all the console owners with those trailers, they were trolling the vast majority of PC gamers too.

I think it's time for a new master race inside PC master race.

Ok, that's fine. Thanks :)
If you find yourself asking about 360 pad support a lot, it might be worth keeping an eye on this list. It's games that support the xinput protocol and it's updated regularly. It's not an exhaustive list (only games with full 360 pad support are on there) but it's the first thing I check if I'm in doubt. Please note though, just because BF3 isn't on there, that doesn't mean it won't support 360 pads. It perhaps won't have the proper button labels and stuff though.

What did you expect? You think those videos were running on mid-tier hardware?

Joking aside, I guess people have different definitions of "enough".

I have a 2600k at 4.5 ( could press it up to 4.8 with higher temps ) and two superoverclocked 560 tis ( which incidentally perform comparatively to a non OCed 590 ), and I don't believe my rig is enough...

Enough for :

All detail settings on/max ( within reason, I always turn of settings that are indistinguishable ingame to my eyes, like HBAO in BC2 ).
2560x1440 resolution
2x-4x AA
@
50-60 average fps in mp ( dips don't really bother me if they are related to say mass explosions or tons of smoke, stuff like that).

And I don't think it'll manage.

I just purchased a new computer and it can only run on medium.

i5 2500k @ 4.5
8 gigs of ram
560ti OC

Looks like it's time to go SLI.

A short question as I'm not really in the topic at the moment - am I safe with GeForce 9600? I remember someone saying during alpha that I should be able to run it but now with reqs known I'd prefer to be sure.
If the only thing stopping me from BF3 is my graphic card being just slightly under minimal reqs I'll rage :/

How the hell can that only run it on medium?

Wait, i'm buying a €1000 system and i can only run this on friggin MEDIUM?

In the words of Mike Goldberg: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

i bought my rig yesterday .. well all the parts.. hope i can run it on high..

will a i7 2600k 3.4ghz to 3.8 @turbo be fast enough? I have a coolmaster 212 plus cpu cooler and want to overclock it but am a complete noob when it comes to that stuff. My case is a corsair 600t graphite.

And I reallly hope a 580 gtx 1.5 gb card will be enough. Not sure if my case can even handle 2 580's.. -___-

Hmmm...medium on those specs? Medium usually equals console version...so either the game is incredibly unoptimized, medium in this version is substantially more impressive than the console versions, or taht was a very low bar estimate
