Battlefield 4 Beta Thread: Prepare 4 Battle (Update to beta drivers)

Less condescending attitude please.

I'm well aware of what a beta is, but if the build is only a week old then they don't have a lot of time to optimise it considering its out in a couple of weeks.

But surely you realise how ridiculous you and others sound when it comes to these sort of threads?

CPU/GPU performance may be arse (feels as smooth as BF3 does to me), but it is a beta. Admittedly it's more of a poor performing demo but it is what it is. DICE are taking note of glitches found and so on via their devs various Twitter accounts so stuff is still being fixed - this is the games industry "crunch" for you.

It's more than likely they're nailing gameplay elements (read: RPG no lock-on sound) down before anything graphical (hence ultra not really being ultra in the beta) as the latter detracts from what is really important. Do you remember how much drivers matured over the the first few weeks of BF3's release? Why expect anything different this time around?

/rant.

I'm not talking about graphics, I'm on about performance. BF3 Alpha ran better than this did and considering its out in a little over 3 weeks it doesn't give them much time to iron out performance bugs before they have to send the game to be pressed.

I guess they'll have to put out a hell of a day-one patch then.

LOL :)

HD 7770 2gb and i7 2600.

At 720p, everything on high and textures on Ultra; getting between 50-60fps (with dips). V-synch off.

I ain't even gonna complain; it's more than playable and looks half decent too even with a shitty low end graphics card (which i am overclocking to 7790 levels).

You getting 50-60fps with overclocked GPU or with stock?

Overclock; I just went with tested values over on the tech radar review for the 1gb version.

GPU Clock settings: 1125 MHz
Memory clock settings: 1250 MHz

At 720p it played BF3 on ultra (v-synch off) no problem; on bf4 it's down to high.

My anticipation to play this game on the Xbox One come launch day is becoming almost unbearable.

My expectations aren't unrealistic and I'm anticipating something between a mix of medium and high settings when it comes to the the look on the game. But playing the 360's version of conquest on Siege of Shanghai then watching all the incredible footage from the PC's version just puts the 360's interpretation to shame. The map is just too large for the small amount of players it allows. I'm having to settle with the Domination mode to get anything like a satisfying experience from the beta, but I'm missing out on all that awesome vehicular action as a result.

Don't get me wrong, the core gameplay is there. but it's just lacking in so much to even come close to the experience the PC gamers are experiencing.

So, roll on the 22nd of November, and if the next gen versions really do run @ 60FPS and look even remotely close to medium settings (PC equivalent) then I'm going to lock myself away for a long time playing this (my poor family).

Been playing the PC beta for the past few days with an i5 3570K oc'd @4.2 ghz, 8GB RAM, and a GTX 780. Been getting 40-60 fps with everything set to ultra. This shit is all over the place.

At any rate, now that the beta a fully open, for shits and giggles I want to see how this runs on my 360 and PS3 lol.

Could anyone who has played the closed beta address something for me;

I'm going to be working on a bit of a tech comparison here and doing so requires comparison shots. This is obviously going to be much much easier on an empty server so I'm wondering if there was any sort of server browser that could allow you to join an empty server.

In BF3 you could easily do this and I'm hoping that's possible in this beta. I really don't want to be setting up comparison shots only to be killed constantly while doing so. :\

It'll probably run better on the consoles ;(

Yes, there's a server browser and tons of empty servers if you want to have a run around by yourself.

Well, they were empty... Obviously many will now fill up for the open beta!

finished downloading on 360, started up the game, and EA servers are down. so not only can i NOT play GTAO, but i cant play the beta either. why have i been cursed?!?!?
