Battlefield 4 Beta Thread: Prepare 4 Battle (Update to beta drivers)

So tried Googling and solving this myself, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone else getting this error?

Re-installed their DirectX, reinstalled/updated Nvidia drivers, reinstalled BF4, same issue no matter what. Would like to try the game, but can't. :/

Man, if you're not someone who puts in 5 hours a day, knows every nook and granny of the map and can fly heli's perfectly, some of the community can be right arseholes can't they?

There will be an offline practice mode. But really, the most hate gets spewed over players who don't know the absolute basics. It's not a lot to ask to understand the revive system, how tickets work, or how to drop ammo.

Except the game doesnt explain any of that. I dont know how people are just supposed to magically know all this if they're new to the series.

I see lots of tooltips and tutorial windows now. Release should be even better. And I'm really not referring to the people who literally do not know what key to press. It's more the type that has logged hundreds of hours and still can't be bothered to revive or drop ammo. Seemingly everywhere.

The weirdest thing performance wise about this beta is that I'll be going around at 60 fps and I'll look at a scene and the frames will drop to sub 40. Then I'll stop and just move my mouse around and the frames will go back up to 60 and I'm still looking at the same exact scene!

Things like painting targets as recon being explained would help, or... I dunno, maybe the person who loves playing recon just doesn't care about painting targets. Sometimes I'll switch to recon just to paint some of the damn helis that are flying around since it seems like nobody else is doing it.

I get that crash in-game here and there. I assume it's an issue with the Beta. I have a GTX 660 for reference.

My framerate is inconsistent. It's a beta so I don't mind. I do think there is some caching et al going on. When I first jumped into a bigger game with more new things my framerate went to shit. An hour later and it was smooth again.

Are you running the game full screen? I got that error all the time when alt+tabbing out of the game when it was full screen. Doesn't happen in windowed mode.

Way too easy to take down the skyscraper. 8 RPG shots and it's down.

Yep, certainly takes B/C out of the map equation. Map is going to be "hold A/B/D/E" until people smarten up and don't rush B/C/Skyscrapers remains to try to cap it and let bleed win.

Bleed is MUCH stronger now as a tactic and that's the way it should be.

Shanghai is a great map. Each capture point feels different and fun. I'm also loving the lack of jets. Jets suck IMO. you just can't have interest ground to air combat with them

Just unlocked my first shotgun.
I'm loving it, but the crosshair is even worse than the already horribly huge of BF3's one...

DICE, I'm not playing from 5 meters with a Wiimote, FFS.

Put the duckbill on. That's how I run my shotguns. Spread is much tighter, but wider. It looks weird, but it works well. I prefer the 870 personally. Less room for error, but dat one shot kill is too hillarious to pass up.

I ran this game on my Windows 8 system and then my brothers Windows 7 system and there is almost zero stutter on my system but on his it was nearly unplayable. If anyone wants anymore info I can try and answer.

So I guess we can conclude that Windows 7 is the culprit for stuttering and other issues. I'm about to test it on my Windows 7 pc so I hope I'm wrong.

Can't even get the game to start, doesn't help the launching system makes it impossible to change settings without being in game. Who thought this was a good idea? goofballs.

I haven't downloaded yet. How will the game run on my rig?

i5 2500k
8 gig ram
NVIDIA Gti 560ti

I'm worried my graphics card wont be adequate?

I can't believe it myself but it looks like Geforce Experience actually fixed the constant stuttering for me. Now it's finally playable.

GeForce Experience actually wants me to turn one setting down: Effects Quality to Medium. I'm running that at Ultra and no complaints.

Where is the Battlescreen option? My Battlelog app is only a copy/paste of the browser based version (which I can't even scroll left/right, only up/down).

When you join the game and the blue ribbon shows up at the bottom there is a battlescreen button. It shows up on the regular browser based battlelog and in the battlelog apps.

I think it is so weird that Domination seems quite popular in the game. I also got a friend who is only raving about how much he loves Domination and the close quarters infantry combat. He is also playing on the console so I suppose Conquest is much less fun then, but I think it is so weird to play Battlefield 4 for that style of gameplay.

It doesn't show up for consoles though.

I'm kinda pissed that Windows 8 is slowly becoming a future purchase.

When I started I went straight for Conquest Large servers. I found myself not being able to recognize the enemy soldiers at distance and generally having trouble moving around and shooting. I play Domination to improve my target acquisition and gunplay (and also to have fun with the 870, it really isn't a weapon for conquest). Our overall progress will be wiped when the beta ends anyway.

Domination also leads to shorter games.

Stupid geforce experience want me to put everything at low at 1080p on a 780m gtx 4gb WTF... Nice testing nvidia
