If that were the case, they could increase the number of tickets teams start with.

Exactly. What they have done is emphasize death match-style killing over the actual interesting aspect of Conquest which is the attacking and defending flags.

I wonder if that cryptic "get more flags and get a bonus for killing enemies" thing in the manual is missing.

Maybe the slow ticket bleed is because they also implemented some sort of bonus scoring on kills, like people have theorized. Have 2 of the 3 flags? Get two tickets for every kill. That combined with a fast ticket bleed would be too much, so they slowed ticket bleed to 1 every 15 seconds on top of the ticket kill bonus.

Maybe the ticket bonus for killing is bugged?

Who knows....

The problem is that we're even having this discussion. We don't know the basic mechanics of one of the two game types with complete certainty, and that's sort of a problem :lol

I know exactly how to win or lose at Rush!

New problem: I entered my BF2 login information on that veteran site and it apparently ranked me up so that I can equip a medkit as a medic. However, I don't see the medkit in the loadout screen so I can't actually use the stupid thing. Am I missing something?
its equipped, you just cant see it. just hit 4 or 5 when youre a medic

DICE once again delivers the goods.. PC bugs, and lots of them.

My only problem with Conquest right now is that if it's a CLOSE game, the match can last forever. Couple that with all the running around you have to do and it gets old pretty fast.

Squad rush has some really weird map designs too. There are a couple with sections that are just easy as hell to defend and ridiculously hard to take where the others are downright easy or balanced?

Here are some tips I'd like to offer to people:

If you suck as a helicopter pilot, like you crash within 30 seconds of getting in the helicopter, stop running to it everytime it respawns. Let someone capable fly it. Try being a gunner or something.

If you are playing as a defender, don't destroy a bunch of walls of the building the M COM station is in, look at me and run off. Stop it. It's a lot more difficult to guard it when there are three or four different holes in the walls that any attacker can run through.

damn I hate a jeep that was going full speed with a tank missile. I think it did 2 front flips before it exploded.

and there was 1 ticket left, I threw an anti-tank mine down at the plant site and actually got the kill. i didn't know they took out people too.

Has anyone else been randomly DC'd from games today/yesterday (360)?

Bought the PC version today and it did not, by any means, "wow" me compared to the 360 (rig: C2D E6600, 6GB RAM, GTX 260 - 892MB VRAM) - using medium/high settings at around 720p. Just glad I can play with any friends now on a whim. Would be nice if you could have one "soldier" across platforms. :)

I don't know either way, as I've never even tried flying them. But I'm sure some people want to try and learn how to fly them. The main reason I've never jumped into one is because I'm afraid of the snobs talking shit.

2nd part is really Dependant on the current situation. If you've got a nice Line of sight, I think it's perfectly acceptable to blow out a couple walls so you can see the mcomm.

Yeah, it goes both ways.

Sometimes I'm pretty happy that the back wall is blow off exposing the MCOM. Then I can stay crouched behind something at a distance and take out planters.

Just don't blow the dang roof off.

Did anyone actually play a BF2 match that lasted 3 or even 5 minutes? :/

BF2 was also only played on pc...the land of the elite. There were no horrible players. lol

Is the PS3 store working now?

am i the only one who thinks hardcore is the only way to play...?
I am still on the fence about it. Some features like not having a hud for weapons(you might switch kits) or counts of grenades/rockets/specials seem a bit much for the game.

Am I going insane or did they mess with the kit selection loadout. I remember in the PS3 beta you could customize each kit (ie. tracer on engineer while the medic has a gun, etc....), yet I can't seem to pull that off in the retail version. I hate having to change my gun and spec's every time I want to change class and more often than not I end up forgetting to change my load.

Got a couple of DC's today (PS3). I think its on my end though, it looks like if your connection hits a snag and it momentarily drops for a second, the game promptly boots you out.

Just got this from Dr. Pepper's support.

Thank you for contacting the DR PEPPER EA GAMING EVERY BOTTLE/CUP WINS
PROMOTION help center.

Battlefield Bad Company enhancements are coming to the website March 8th.

Sorry team PS3 GAF. I went lone wolf tonight. I have got to get some level of skill back that I had in the beta so I went at it alone for an hour or so.

I don't want to get laughed out of the squad. I'm placing in the middle of the leaderboards but I'm having difficulty learning the new maps and modes. I plan to be online almost all weekend though so I'm sure we'll meet up soon.

What's the deal with the Premium Theme for the Xbox 360?
For some reason, I have it...but I haven't seen anyone around talking about it being an unlockable or something, a friend of mine said that the theme costs 240 MS Points..

So I thought that the theme was unlocked by playing the game, but he has played more..and he doesn't have it and says I'm lying or that I bought it without realizing..and while checking the store, the exact same theme (1.98MB)..is indeed 240 MS Points ($3)..

Hmm...no complaining, just...weird.
Is not in my Downlaod History, is doesn't appear as already downloaded...it just appeared on my HDD after playing the game for the first time.

Anyone think the knife sucks in this game? Sometimes when I go up to the hill on Port Valdez to clean out the snipers, I knife and if the guy moves like one step... nothing happens. It's even worse in normal CQC but I play engineer so I hardly knife if I don't need/want to be completely silent.

Could it be lag on my end?

So how do I get the graphics settings in the PC version to take? I jumped into SP just to get my settings straight, but jumping back and forth between Low and High isn't making a difference.

Yes I think the knife sucks gigantic donkey balls.

Needs to have some sort of team balancing, so many times tonight where I was on a team that was half the size of the opposing team. D:

do ANY ps3 games have background downloading not disabled when you're playing an offline mode anymore? jesus christ between this and basically zero custom soundtrack support they should just yank those 2 in-game features all together and allocate more resources for devs, no matter how little of the os they take up while not being utilized. i thought to myself: i'll download the just cause 2 demo and play some single player bfbc2...but nope. gonna be hard to finish the campaign....multiplayer is just so much better.

It's because many games (especially EA games) have you connected online in some ways, even when playing SP. I know in Mercs 2, I used to cancel connecting to EA's server stuff when the game started, and then I could download stuff in the background. Try unplugging the Ethernet cable when you boot up the game, then start your SP stuff, then plug it back in?

I locked myself out of my house, and I'm seriously contemplating breaking a fucking window so I can get my Bad Company 2 on. Torturing myself reading this thread on my laptop from my car. :(

I only play as recon class but sniper level up too slow. is there any tricks one how to level up quickly as a sniper?
also, how to prone?

Playing this game with randoms is terrible at the moment. Most players are treating it like TDM in MW2 and it's rare to see a player throw out med packs/ammo. In fact, as a medic I have to chase the fuck out of people to heal them, they'll have like 5% health, see me and then start running. I've resorted to dropping the med pack and shooting it a bunch of times until they see it. Not only that, but players refusing to destroy the m-coms(forgot if that's what they're called) or not capping flags. Sorry if this has been brought up before as I haven't been keeping up with this thread. So how long until people realize that this is not played like MW?

this. plus so far no one has mics (ps3). i dunno if they can hear me. hopefully i'll catch on some gaffers next time.

Is there a consensus best type of AA between the in game options and the ones in the nvidia control panel? I just got back to nvidia and am overwhelmed at the forceware superiority. I don't know where to begin.

Being on ATI for the last 3 years, I forgotten about the wonders of anti aliasing and seem to be behind the curve on the terminology. Even though there is no prompt, you have to reboot the game every time you change a graphic setting aside from resolution and I'm too lazy to test them all.

Wondering if anyone has.

Right now I'm using the 16q stuff and my game seems to be running too good to be true.... it is my first game after my GPU upgrade though. But I still think I'm fucking up the settings. There's no way I'm getting these frame rates with 16x anything.

955 Black 3.2
275 GTX (factory BFG OC, no other oc)
4 GB DDR2
Vista 32

Cuz I'm getting 60 fps more than I'm not. I even did a few FRAPS videos and they managed to stay at 59-60fps consistently. I'm calling B.S. on myself for this! I haven't been following the PC single player reactions though. I'm playing on all high settings, shadows at medium though. 1280x720 because for some reason I have to force 1440x900 through the .ini and when I do the mouse pointer isn't right. I've had this issue a couple times since getting the 275. Is there something I should know about nvidia and 1440x900? I even had to force it through custom resolutions for my desktop res. I've installed the newest drivers, then did the whole driver sweeper deal and installed the last WHQL, then did the whole driver sweeper thing again back to the new ones cuz the old ones didn't help.

This post is pretty long and pretty boring, but I'm hoping someone can give me some perspective on this.

Good games, PS3 GAFfers. Good fucking games!!

Last game where it was me and AJ vs MrBigJohnson was sooo awesome!! Last minute victories are always fun! :D Night map is shit awesome btw!

Oh and I've gotten used to spotting. Or maybe cause I was playing with all the usual suspects i.e. Jardel, Lyulf, AJ, MrBigJohnson, Kilthee and the rest of the dance crew. :P

Jesus, I need some break.

Maybe they reduced the ticket bleed to make the matches last longer.

If it used to be like you guys said and you lost a ticket every 2 seconds, games could be over in 3 minutes (say 10 by the time a good vet team gets their footdown on the points).

That's just no fun.

I believe the default in 1942 was 250 tickets or 500 by default.
Then when you controlled all the capture points you could see the number tick down ever few seconds. and it was faster depending on how many more you held vs how many the opposition had.

I guess starting with only 75(is it 75 or is that rush) and having bleed slower works out to the same time wise but I agree it lets camping for kills to important over getting the capture points

Can anyone join games now on 360? I couldn't like 45 min ago and again now I can't get on. I was able to join the GAF party chat and hear them playing and have fun but I can't join for shit. WTF.
