Why For? said:I know, I'm sorry my post wasn't all that clear.
I should have been more specific. Why would PG hand the port to Sega in the first case? Why not do it themselves? Laziness? Budget?
jabipun said:Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes to all those.
Everything is always going to be inferior to something else. For example, Heavenly Sword is inferior to DMC/NG/GoW - but have thousands of people purchased, played it, and enjoyed, sure.
Bayonetta PS3 is a game - it's fun. Don't let the fact that it's tech doesn't hold up to the 360 version hold you back on playing this game.
If you want to vote with your dollar, sure - fuck it, do whatever you want. But if you're concerned that these tech problems on the ps3 port somehow hamper this game and drop it down from anything other than awesome - and that's why you're skipping out on it, it won't.
If you're one of the millions who bought DMC4, Sigma, Heavenly Sword - or any action game on the PS3 thus far, I can say that Bayonetta PS3 is better than those games - by magnitudes. Isn't that all that matters? If you like action games, Bayonetta is the next best thing, PS3 port tech issues be damned.
It'll be in the bargain bin soon enough. The market sets the price.Truespeed said:I totally agree with you. At the end of the day, it's the fun you extract from it that really defines the game. But, I sort of equate the PS3 version of Bayonetta to that of a Chinese knock-off. I have no problem with knock-offs, but don't charge me the MSRP of the definitive version. Sega should just charge $39.99 for the PS3 version and rename it to Bayanetta just to give it that Chinese knock-off look and feel.

WickedLaharl said:so since some are trying to belittle eurogamers comparison how about this one? it's not based on the clocktower sequence.
jabipun said:That video proves my point. The gameplay segments are at framerates between 30 to 46.5.
While the cutscene (like the clocktower sequence) is at 20 to 25 fps.
Apparently, I guess some people are too stupid to figure out how that video works, but the big yellow number on the left is the composite average of the framerate - which is lowered because of the enemy introduction cutscene.
Look at the inidividual frames being posted - when GAMEPLAY starts, the framerate shoots up from 25 fps to about a 35 to 40 average.
This video has been addressed about 1,000 times yet people keep reading it the wrong way, as if the yellow number on the bottom left is updating on the specific individual frame as it goes. Which it is not. It's the average leading up that point.
So, again - that video only further proves what I'm saying about eurogamer, they do a sensationalized comparison of a cutscene at which the ps3 version struggles the most.
This instance rarely happens throughout the rest of the game, AND NEVER HAPPENS DURING COMBAT.
Fimbulvetr said:That's assuming people don't cave.
Jonsoncao said:In the scenes where there were more than two enemies on screen, witch time, and boss battle, the framerate dives below 30fps
I found Steam...Shintoki Am Cry. Plants vs Zombies/THQ pack for 55$. =[Kintaro said:I doubt people will have much money left over after Christmas and New Years anyways. =P

Maybe then they'd stop making PS3 versions and the likelihood of PC ports increases.

Yeah seems Sega is all hush about improvements to the PS3 version. I am pretty pissed...I was tracking this game ever since the first trailer, now to see this terrible comparison...gah, I know many others share the same frustration. If I buy a 360 just to play this game, I will retaliate by first pirating it, and then pirating every other game I get for the 360...

fucking as if anyone should find that shit acceptable just because it's a game made by kamiya and they have no other choice.

The gameplay average framerate is much higher.

Nobody's apologizing for them, but if you think about it a little (come on, try!) you'll see it's clearly a matter of a 360 exclusive being ported mid-dev to the PS3.DR2K said:If you people keep apologizing for them, you'll continue to get these shitty ports. I'm waiting for Bayonetta PS3 to hit the bargain bin, and even then I'll get it used. So Sega and Platinum games can suck it. Assuming they haven't used that last few months to fix up the PS3 version.
Shito said:Nobody's apologizing for them, but if you think about it a little (come on, try!) you'll see it's clearly a matter of a 360 exclusive being ported mid-dev to the PS3.
It's a complicated subject: on one hand we have Sega, who did an awful job of a port, and on the other hand we have Platinum who did a marvelous 360 game and are suffering from the PS3 version. You can choose to "act" against Sega by not buying the game premium, but by doing this you're hurting Platinum, and any chance of them making better games (or any other games at all) in the future.
Thing is: that comparison sucks. Because everyone is getting so pissed about the Clock Tower stage, which looks NOTHING like the game usually performs 95% of the time.
I'm torn.
I'd link the other bayonetta thread where everyone having played the PS3 version is telling how "it's really not so bad as what people are making it to be", but I think I don't want all of those "lololol 60 > 20 SEGA AND PLATINUM ARE DEAD TO ME!!" stupid people coming in.
Because... Platinum also makes money from the PS3 version?Paracelsus said:Why would anybody with just a PS3 care about hurting PG knowing the bolded part? If what you say it's true, were it for PG the game would be a 360 exclusive period, so why one should support the version of Bayonetta PG didn't even want? If anything, they should support Sega who ported the game, but considering the port is literally half-assed (half the quality of the original version and developed with the ass), I guess his decision of going for the bargain bin isn't all that wrong.
This, assuming he doesn't want to dish out money for a X360.
