Bayonetta looking different accross platforms during demo event.

I have played and finished an import copy. I would say 95% of the game I played was very consistant frame-wise and damn fun. The other 5% did not flow as well but was unfortunately damn fun. As a result I think I will only pay $57 when it comes out in the US.

I know, I'm sorry my post wasn't all that clear.

I should have been more specific. Why would PG hand the port to Sega in the first case? Why not do it themselves? Laziness? Budget?

I doubt they even have PS3 devkits.

Like the comparison briefly mentions, the 50% tearing rate is because of this weird thing the PS3 version does where the very top of the screen is perpetually out of sync with the rest of it. It's a bit distracting. I thought it was actually more annoying than regular tearing whenever I noticed it, but I really only ever noticed it in cutscenes.

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes to all those.

Everything is always going to be inferior to something else. For example, Heavenly Sword is inferior to DMC/NG/GoW - but have thousands of people purchased, played it, and enjoyed, sure.

Bayonetta PS3 is a game - it's fun. Don't let the fact that it's tech doesn't hold up to the 360 version hold you back on playing this game.

If you want to vote with your dollar, sure - fuck it, do whatever you want. But if you're concerned that these tech problems on the ps3 port somehow hamper this game and drop it down from anything other than awesome - and that's why you're skipping out on it, it won't.

If you're one of the millions who bought DMC4, Sigma, Heavenly Sword - or any action game on the PS3 thus far, I can say that Bayonetta PS3 is better than those games - by magnitudes. Isn't that all that matters? If you like action games, Bayonetta is the next best thing, PS3 port tech issues be damned.

I totally agree with you. At the end of the day, it's the fun you extract from it that really defines the game. But, I sort of equate the PS3 version of Bayonetta to that of a Chinese knock-off. I have no problem with knock-offs, but don't charge me the MSRP of the definitive version. Sega should just charge $39.99 for the PS3 version and rename it to Bayanetta just to give it that Chinese knock-off look and feel.

It'll be in the bargain bin soon enough. The market sets the price.

so since some are trying to belittle eurogamers comparison how about this one? it's not based on the clocktower sequence.

That video proves my point. The gameplay segments are at framerates between 30 to 46.5.

While the cutscene (like the clocktower sequence) is at 20 to 25 fps.

Apparently, I guess some people can't figure out how that video - reads, but the big yellow number on the left is the composite average of the framerate - which is lowered because of the enemy introduction cutscene.

Look at the inidividual frames being posted - when GAMEPLAY starts, the framerate shoots up from 25 fps to about a 35 to 40 average.

This video has been addressed about 1,000 times yet people keep reading it the wrong way, as if the yellow number on the bottom left is updating on the specific individual frame as it goes. Which it is not. It's the average leading up that point.

So, again - that video only further proves what I'm saying about eurogamer, they do a sensationalized comparison of a cutscene at which the ps3 version struggles the most.

This instance rarely happens throughout the rest of the game, AND NEVER HAPPENS DURING COMBAT.

In the scenes where there were more than two enemies on screen, witch time, and boss battle, the framerate dives below 30fps

ehhh, no, no - not really.

It'll flirt with 28 during for a second or two - but by and large, in totality - it's CLEARLY above 30 fps, during gameplay. With the boss is introduced - again, a cutscene, it dives below 30. But when the actual boss battle starts it's above 30 fps.

The PS3 version bombing would be pretty interesting.

Maybe then they'd stop making PS3 versions and the likelihood of PC ports increases.

PS3 version sold pretty decent in Japan. Much better than the 360 version of course. I wouldn't be surprised if the two versions sold the same here in the US.

No idea where people are getting delusions of PC ports in their heads from though...

Or not decide to make an exclusive title multiplatform at the last minute.

avg fps is 33 with 50% screen tearing in that video i posted. :lol

fucking as if anyone should find that shit acceptable just because it's a game made by kamiya and they have no other choice.

once you've gone green, the ps3 ain't seen!
Terrible. lol.

Yeah seems Sega is all hush about improvements to the PS3 version. I am pretty pissed...I was tracking this game ever since the first trailer, now to see this terrible comparison...gah, I know many others share the same frustration. If I buy a 360 just to play this game, I will retaliate by first pirating it, and then pirating every other game I get for the 360...
*hugs PS3 and game collection*

I dont know why people are talking about waiting for bargain bin pricing on this game.

I am ashamed of some of you! Good games need support! I would be thrilled to see this game continue in to a franchise! DMC sucks now! We need moar, MOAR, MOARRRRR, bayonetta and her fine ass. :lol

DAY ONE MOTHER TRUCKERS, OR GET OUT OF THIS THREAD!

Glad I pre-ordered the 360 version. It pays to own multiple platforms.

The avg fps of 33 is skewed significantly lower due to the cutscenes. Nobody gives a shit about those and their frameratezz!

The gameplay average framerate is much higher.

Wow. Not too smart.

We need to collect a giant list of users that have been permabanned for walking blindly into a thread and saying something like "So yeah I pirated this game and it sucks."

Can anyone explain to me why Sony seemed to go out of their way to make the PS3 a nightmare to program for? I know MS sought out input from developers to see what features they wanted the 360 to include, but it seems like Sony did the exact opposite.

Not only is it like - admitting the intent to pirate, but what the fuck do you have to crap on PlatinumGames on the 360 version? Shit, they did their job on that regard. Don't buy the ps3 version by all means if it pisses you off that much, but 360 version - mission accomplished. Good job platinum. What's next.

It was Sega who fucked up, write a letter to them.

It wouldn't surprise me if Platinum offered to do the ps3 port after they were done with the 360 version, but sega probably wanted day and date release to get all the money they could, as opposed to having the ps3 version come out months later.

When you're making the sequel to the best selling console of all time, you either go bold or go home.

Didn't the PS2 get a bad wrap for being hard to develop for?

Looks like they went bold twice n' a row.

I am patiently waiting for DMC5 no backtracking edition

a man can dream

I like bayonetta alot, but everyone is ZOMFG DMC PWNED!1!!!

truth is i still prefer DMC D:

I know Sega did an inexcusable job on the port, and PlatinumGames should have made Bayonetta more multiplatform friendly, but until you've at least played the demo you really can't speak intelligently about the game. Seriously. Play Bayonetta, if only in demo form, before you dismiss it for technical issues.

I played the demo(360) yesterday, it was awesome, you can definitely see the potential for the full game. It's kinda overwhelming to be thrown in that huge pool of combo's though, i'm more for progressively learning and unlocking them.

If you people keep apologizing for them, you'll continue to get these shitty ports. I'm waiting for Bayonetta PS3 to hit the bargain bin, and even then I'll get it used. So Sega and Platinum games can suck it. Assuming they haven't used that last few months to fix up the PS3 version.

Sega did the port.

Who also FUCKED up the Euro version of Madworld, by not putting in a PAL60hz option or optimizing so it was 17% slower and had huge borders, like the old days of gaming. Shocking :(

Nobody's apologizing for them, but if you think about it a little (come on, try!) you'll see it's clearly a matter of a 360 exclusive being ported mid-dev to the PS3.
It's a complicated subject: on one hand we have Sega, who did an awful job of a port, and on the other hand we have Platinum who did a marvelous 360 game and are suffering from the PS3 version. You can choose to "act" against Sega by not buying the game premium, but by doing this you're hurting Platinum, and any chance of them making better games (or any other games at all) in the future.

Thing is: that comparison sucks. Because everyone is getting so pissed about the Clock Tower stage, which looks NOTHING like the game usually performs 95% of the time.
I'm torn.
I'd link the other bayonetta thread where everyone having played the PS3 version is telling how "it's really not so bad as what people are making it to be", but I think I don't want all of those "lololol 60 > 20 SEGA AND PLATINUM ARE DEAD TO ME!!" stupid people coming in.

Why would anybody with just a PS3 care about hurting PG knowing the bolded part? If what you say it's true, were it for PG the game would be a 360 exclusive period, so why one should support the version of Bayonetta PG didn't even want? If anything, they should support Sega who ported the game, but considering the port is literally half-assed (half the quality of the original version and developed with the ass), I guess his decision of going for the bargain bin isn't all that wrong.

This, assuming he doesn't want to dish out money for a X360.

Because... Platinum also makes money from the PS3 version?
And because not buying this version will probably not entice them to do any effort for a future game?
I can understand the "I'm not supporting this with my money! I'm voting against it by *not buying* it!" point of view, but what people need to understand is that in this case this attitude won't help make the situation any better. By not buying something, you can only vote against it existing in the first place (like shameless DLCs, for example), but it will never help make something better.
