Those of you have have your posters framed, did you buy them online and have them shipped framed? Or, did you buy them and then frame them yourselves?
I framed all mine myself. Either picked the frames at Ikea or Target for $20. The problem with any frames you buy is that some posters aren't 27" x 40", which is the dimension of a standard one sheet. Some are 1/2" either tall or wide. You just have to be creative on how you frame it. Like my Leon poster was short about 1/2" in width, so I just took some black electrician tape and placed that on the edges of the matte/background. You mostly run into these problems with posters before 1980 or from outside the US.

Also, what is considered to be the best place to buy large movie posters online for a decent price?
allposters has a good selection. it really comes down to are you buying art for looks or for value. All my posters are reprints, so they range from $10 to $25. I know some people that are really anal and only want original, or attempt to find lightbox prints (printed on gloss paper on both sides to allow light to pass through).

Although I've never seen the movie I've always liked the poster for Metropolis.

I should really see it one day.

I've gotten most of my posters from MovieGoods; they aren't the cheapest place, but the stock they use is very nice and I like the assortment of overseas designs and variants they carry, especially for older films.

Assuming the poster is nice enough to warrant the expenditure, I get them mounted on foam board and then I buy 1" deep metal frames to put them in. There's always a 40% coupon floating around for Michaels craft store, which is handy for this.

I'll have to keep an eye out for frames that come close to matching the sizes I'm going to be getting.

I don't think I could ever justify paying $300+ for an original. I just need to put some color on my walls. So, reprints are perfect for me. :D

Thanks, I'll have a look at this as well. I'll definitely keep my eye on Michaels coupons because I know frames can get super pricey, especially in larger sizes.

Simple, but eye catching design.
matrix_revolutions.jpg

Think what you will about the movie, but this was a very well made poster.
hollow_man.jpg

One of the best posters that year, which they never reused after, which is a damn shame.
tron-poster.jpg

Iconic, and still awesome to this day.
Aliens%20poster%201.jpg

Simple and to the point. It tells you all you need to know.
rocketeer.jpg

Everyone keeps posting this for a reason. It is one of the most perfect film posters ever made.
vertigo.jpg

Another perfect poster.
halloween.jpg

Iconic, and still one of the most well made thrillers ever.
escape_from_new_york_ver2.jpg

Almost all of Carpenter's posters back in the day were awesome, but this one is something special.
batman_returns_ver1.jpg

Another simple, elegant poster. And vague enough that it doesnt immediately jump out as to what it is.
batman_begins.jpg

Great image.

I ACCIDENTALLY got that poster through eBay. I didn't bother opening the poster for months because I'm lazy, and I thought I got the poster I DID order:

Do you have the poster you...posted? You can have mine, I don't want it.

Some sweet posters in this thread.

Anyone have good/bad experience with Allposters.com? Was thinking of ordering a couple from there and want to know what the quality is like.
That's where I've bought mine from. I'm really, really happy with with the quality.
They're not cheap, especially if you want the non-glare glass (which is almost a must imo), but I think they're worth it.

Neat thread idea. Polish posters are the best; couldn't ever imagine those designs flying out of film studios in America. It's good to see these posters--I'm getting sick of the uber-epic, over-Photoshopped film posters of today. Here are some good ones:

I actually own this one (along with all the grindhouse posters)....my favorite of the bunch and been meaning to frame it for some time.

Likewise! :D

I have a whole wall dedicated to Grindhouse :lol

(well I did before I moved last month, not got around to putting them back up in my new place yet.)

Were all these Polish posters actually displayed in public? They are awesome. Love the style.

I would imagine so. I'd love to plaster my walls with 'em, but they're extremely expensive and none of the usual places do reproductions (which has to be a legal thing as opposed to a lack of interest) like they do with posters from almost anywhere else in the world. Browsing through PolishPoster.com can easily whisk away your entire afternoon.

I don't find Jessica Alba hot in any way. I can usually see the appeal of many famous bitches loved by the masses, but this one's a complete mystery to me. Nice body doesn't go all the way.
