Best Call of Duty campaign?

Never played a single player campaign to completion after Call of Duty 2. Just felt like the ones I played were a gimmick to do horrific things.

Cod 4 is the GOAT Cod campaign.

AW is an excellent near-future campaign definitely worth your time.

There's definitely alot to be said for CoD1 and 2, they were pretty special but a serious departure from what we now have as the series standard.

Get ready to get matchmade into a hacked lobby and be perma-banned from the game with a nice red message on your Steam profile saying "1 game ban on record" if you play any older CoD game online. They're all hacked to shit, and you can easily get banned just by being placed into a lobby with them.

Yikes! Even Advanced Warfare, which is not that old?

Anyway, got Black Ops 2 and it's really cool. I think the mission in Afghanistan with the horses and shit is already one of my favorites!

Modern Warfare 2 was great. I felt the character's were at their strongest in the entire franchise, and lots of memorable moments. The Hans Zimmer (well, I hear he only done one track) soundtrack was amazing. The ending scene where you throw the knife was mindblowing at the time - I remember playing in the living room making sure my Dad saw that badass moment.

COD 4 of course.

Call of duty 2 comes next.

Modern warfare 2 is nice too. but lacks the depth and maturity that cod 4 had.

I've never had this happen to me with any COD PC game before. Never heard of it happening to people also. Did this actually happen to you? They usually don't ban whole lobbies, just the specific players.

I'd have to go with Call of Duty: Black Ops. The characters were likable, the time period was interesting, and the story was very strong. Tons of memorable set pieces. I was also a huge fan of the plot twist and implication of the game's ending (before the sequels). It remains darker and more mature than any other COD campaign for me, and is a big part of that title remaining my favorite in the series.

Except by the tower defense mission. Holy shit, that was terrible.

I don't get it. I quit the game mid mission and when I came back... moved forward like I already finished the RTS battle? Weird.

Have to go with Black Ops 1 as the best for me.

I will say though after that I will easily vote for the following.

Modern Warfare 1
Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 3

I know MW3 doesn't get as much love as MW1 and MW2 but I really enjoyed it a LOT. Especially going form MW2 and right into MW3. It's so over the top but by that point I was completely fine with it. Black Ops 2 is good as well but and I also have no idea how BO3 turned out the way it did. It still makes no damn sense how they could go from BO1 and 2 to that.

Personally Black Ops 1, but honorable mention to MW3 leaving a good first impression of the franchise for me (for campaign anyway)

My friends would have your heads for saying AW as much as you are. I liked it though.

I think CoD3 was my personal favorite. I kind of enjoyed MW but the All Ghillied Up mission just completely ruined it. Honestly I think maybe the opening level was the only bit that really grabbed me.

The MW trilogy is not just the best cod campaign, but some of the best action titles out there.

I know a lot will disagree, but they were just as good if not better than the uncharted games in terms of Hollywood action, set pieces.

yup best campaign , the trilogy is so damn good.. until now its still the best for me. AW got bored..

Black Ops 2
Modern Warfare 3

The music and weapons for BO2 are best in the series.
Modern Warfare story and set pieces were great.

Last mission for both of them were awesome.

World at War's campaign strengths is that it's cutscenes and loading times were creative and you had multiple points of view on WW2 so I'd say it's top 3 cod campaigns

Black ops 2 had the most ambitious story, Cod 4 had the best pacing, MW2 was just a blast to play, and AW was just an incredibly put together package.

If I honestly had to choose I would nominate AW, for even if it wasn't necessarily the best among its peers when it came to individual marks of quality, it also didn't suffer from any major issues as well.

Cod 4 had infinite enemies, Blops 2 had iffy pacing and required you to play that terrible minigame for the best ending, and MW2's plot was literal nonsense.

You know, I'm very surprised MW2 is getting as much love as it is here. Isn't MW2's campaign usually universally hated? Maybe it's a nostalgia or retrospective thing? ._.

I think MW2 is loved for being the quintessential "Hollywood" game of the series.

I'm amazed at the love for AW here, apart from Kevin Spacey being in it I found it extremely average.

For me you just can't go wrong with CoD 1/UO, 2 & 4

Also have a soft spot for Blops 2 due to its choice system.

Pretty much every old CoD PC game has negative Steam reviews on it from people who got banned just for trying to play the game online.

It hasn't happened to me personally because I haven't tried it. I'm not going to risk sullying my Steam account's spotless record.

Multiple points of view is a Call of Duty staple since the first game, not really exclusive to World at War.

And as much as I love WAW, there were more POVs in the previous WWII titles as well.

Wish they would go back to that after Ghosts, AW, and BOIII.

Is this really a thing?

I don't see how that's possible. I wouldn't really trust hackers into leaving legit reviews.

My favorite is the first. I never played UO, although I have the disc somewhere. I had problems trying to install it recently so I just said "eff it." I thought 2 was pretty good, too.

I will never understand people who prefer MW2 campaign to MW.
I agree with this. I thought MW2's was so bad it put me off the series for a few years. Then again, I guess at that point, single player was not what the games were being sold on anyways.
