Best characters that were randomly dropped from rosters

Adam1.png

I disliked SoR2 for a week or two because they used him as a stupid plot point instead of letting us play as him. The best character in the first game got kidnapped? Implausible.

Bowser Jr. was my main in Double Dash, but I'm not all that torn up about his omission from MK8. Fighting games I can understand but Mario Kart's roster is just skins for the weight classes.

Not in Double Dash. That's part of what made Double Dash awesome :P Peach driving, Toad spamming Super Mushrooms, it was perfect.

I am.

Though I do think he is going to be in the game.

He will be DLC. Like how rosalina is DLC in mario golf and Boswer Jr is In that game.

Pichu from Melee to Brawl
Lol, yeah right

It's hard to actually pick a character from Melee that was dropped that I miss. I guess Mewtwo since Roy was a weaker Marth and Ike deserved the roster spot

Edit: Actually, I miss DK from the Mario Party series where he got dropped

I can see why they did it though. The in SoR1 the 3 characters were all very similar and didn't have much gameplay variety at all. In SoR2 you can tell that they attempted to make different characters really alter the game. Differentiating Adam and Axel would have had a lot more limitations than the two new characters Skate and Max. You can already kinda see this with Axel and Blaze who feel much closer in play style than the other two.

So it's not that random really, either Adam or Axel was likely to be dropped with the change in direction... and Axel was basically their Ryu, so it wasn't going to be him.

Agreed with Dry Bones. Was my favorite character in MKDS and now he's just gone two games in a row. WHY NINTENDO, WHY!

Mewtwo: The thread?
Indeed. Rather have Mewtwo back than Lucario.

I also liked Talim in Soul Calibur II. If I'm remember it right, she got significant changes in 3 or 4, then just got removed from 5. Unlike most of the cuts, there wasn't a highly similar character to replace her.
Talim as well. She was my main in SC II and III but I didn't play IV. I bought SC V while it was on sale on XBL and noticed she was gone and that no character had a similar play style either. Pretty disappointed with that.

How the Hell do you guys know that certain characters are not in Xrd?
They recently added a character to the Arcade version, and last i heard they didn't have a release date for consoles. You are being presumptuous, and there is literally no way in hell they are going to omit Bridget from a mainline game, or are you talking about previous games he did not appear in?

Gambit. How dare they not bring back that sexy ragin cajun. :(

No currently gives or really ever gave a crap about bandit and they didn't see fit advertising him.

Thats about it, no one cares about gambit.

Cyclops could get into marvel 4 now though. Remember these dudes are comic characters first

To be fair, Urien and Remy would be pretty broken in SF4. Without parries (which is the inexplicable omission in SF4 to me, to make this post relevant), these guys' options are way too strong.
Well a lack of partitioning and unblockables (in the 3rd Strike sense) would hurt their game quite a bit. I'm sure they could take them and balance them accordingly.

WHAT ?????

Gambit is my favorite x-men :(.

Seong Mi-na. She was the original fucking Soul Blade and is then continuously outclassed by fucking Kilik, eventually being replaced by his stupid bastard son. Fuck these two. Seong Mi-na was the shit. Not to mention she's fine as fuck. One of the few video game characters to legit give me a boner.

EDIT: You know what? Cassandra too.

Spunky as hell and also fine as fuck.

Everyone from SC4 -> SC5. I'll never understand why they thought that was a good idea. My main from 2-4 was Cassandra, and her replacement in 5 just didn't do her justice.

Also, I would say Roy and Mewtwo, but, well...

Talim ;_;

I miss you...

This was my first thought. Leading up to the release of SCV, I kept hoping she would be announced. What a disappointment. I'm done with the Soul Calibur series anyways but I don't even know if they'll make another game. I regret the purchase of 5.

She was never killed off though. Harada himself confirmed that Jun is still alive, just MIA. He even made statements on Twitter a year or so ago that if enough people tweeted him asking for Jun to return to the main games he could see it happening. His Twitter instantly blew up with requests. :lol

But yeah, waiting a decade for her return in TTT2 was incredibly tough.

not to derail, but did he say if tekken 3 was ever come to psn. God I need that game.

I love how both of these omissions are a sin primarily because the characters are "fine as fuck", lol. :P

Why the hell is alex in tvc and not in street fighter 4 OR marvel.

This. So much this.

Why the hell won't you let me play as the only grappler character you've ever made that I actually liked Capcpom.

Also, really hated Kilik (real Kilik not the crap Edgemaster clone) and Yunseong getting cut in Soul Calibur.

EDIT: Also, Rock Howard. Capcom of all people made the iconic version of your fucking character SNK (the CvS2 version), what gives.

Guilty Gear: The trimmed roster is understandable, given that XX's had gotten really big and they're starting from scratch with Xrd. I'm not crossing my fingers for some of the missing characters (like Jam ;_; ) to be added for the console release - given I believe that Arc never added Blazblue characters to console releases; they were always added to the arcade first, then offered as console DLC... then added again via the next disc release. But hopefully across the next arcade iteration or two they'll keep adding returning characters and before too long we'll have XX's primary roster all back.

King of Fighters: KoF's roster has always been pretty variable, but the new sprites have kinda killed it since there's so few characters nowadays, especially on the female side, even though KoF has a really diverse cast. And now SNK's starting from scratch again and switching to a SF4/GGXrd style of cel-shaded 3D models. Hopefully it'll work out better in the long run as the HD sprites just weren't economical in terms of how long it took them to make each character. I'd love to see Vanessa, Whip, and some others back. I wouldn't hold my breath on Angel, though - any characters introduced in KoF 2001, such as her and May Lee, are owned by Eolith (the South Korean company that developed that and 2002), not SNK.

Soul Calibur: In the state that V came out in, it may as well have just had all the old characters (or at least all of the ones that appeared in IV). I understand the attempt to make things fresh by going forward a generation, but that was completely shot in the foot since the game was forced out the door. Most of the new characters are hardly even given an introduction in the story mode.

Yeah, I played her often in Soul Blade, but if memory serves Seong Mi-na's moves weren't that great and she was pretty slow. I do wish they had improved her instead of introducing Kilik instead.

But if we're talking Soul Blade, I have to pour one out for my man Li Long. Way more fun on the nunchaku than Maxi, and a much better storyline.

Hsien-Ko would have been a suitable replacement if she hadn't turned out so crappy. Now I'll never have my Deadpool and Baby Bonnie Hood team up :/

How the hell do you have a timeskip Soul Calibur and not bring back these two. Talim would still be a decent age even after the timeskip (and you don't have to pull the lol Soul Edge card like you did with Maxi and Tira) and the other guy is an immortal sorcerer that wouldn't not be involved in Soul Edge's return, they're like the two that would pretty much be shoo-ins without having to make up some dumb excuse for their return (unlike lol human Cervantes again) so why weren't they in again?

It was also pretty dumb that the best Alexandra from each generation (Cassandra and Patroklos) got shafted in recent games (Patroklos for Lost Swords and Cassandra since SC4). Why would you even have Pyrrha and Sophitia in the same game? (Also have to give a dishonorable mention for the story reason that Cassandra didn't return which was essentially "lol Astral Chaos") (Oh and before anyone says Patroklos is terrible, he has THE SMUG and he's at least 100 times more bearable than Pyrrha so he's still technically the better sibling)
