Huh? No, they didn't. At this point, no one has any idea how she factors into the story since she was so closely connected to K9999...who has since been erased altogether, and replaced with Nameless, who in turn is nothing like him beyond a shared moveset and being the 9,999th Kyo clone (doesn't look like him, doesn't act like him, doesn't have the same VA, doesn't have the same motivations, etc.). Comparatively, Angel has absolutely nothing to do with Nameless story-wise. She's not dead in the series so much as in limbo.

And now SNK's starting from scratch again and switching to a SF4/GGXrd style of cel-shaded 3D models. This was never true. Eolith developed 2001 and 2002, yes, but they never owned the rights to any specific characters, Angel, May Lee, and K9999 included.

God KoF 11 had such a gorgeous fucking roster. Could we do a KoF 11 Dream Match edition with KoF 13 systems?
 
Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. Mario Kart 8 looks great, but I can't get excited for any of the characters on the roster.

Donkey Kong in Mario Party.

Mewtwo. And while I understand why he wasn't brought back, I kinda miss Dr. Mario as well.

Anyone that gets dropped from Smash Bros. Brawl.

Talim and Zasalamel. Giving Setsuka's moveset to Patroklos of all people was stupid as well.

The entire Street Fighter II cast except Ryu, Ken, and Chun in SFIII.

Jokes aside though, I agree that he (in either version) should have been included in that Lost Swords thing over Sophie. Mind you I also like Pyrrha waaaaayyyyyy more than Sophie while you hate her so there's that.

Petey Piranha - present in Double-Dash!! and totally awesome. Never seen in Mario Kart again.

I think TC might be jumping the gun on Dry Bones, though? I refuse to believe Nintendo is insane enough for the 30 characters we know of to be the full Mario Kart 8 roster. Every Koopaling playable but Bowser Jr.? No chance in hell.
 
For a long time, my vote would have been Koopa Troopa for Mario Kart, or pretty much every Mario game. The N64 era was a very dark one for playable Koopa. I'm fairly sure his only playable appearance was Mario Tennis (as a Paratroopa, if you want to be specific). Fortunately, most games since the Gamecube have rectified this, and the Koopa Troopa is now a safe bet to make the playable roster in Mario games.

My answer now (pending, and based on a fair bit of presumption) is Ivysaur in Smash Bros. I know. He's not officially cut yet, but reintroducing Charizard as a solo character makes things look pretty dire.

Whip (She has a whip, stomps people in the head while laughing, and shoots a gun, godlike)
Angel(Difficult to use but fun to play)

Blue Mary(Seriously SNK wtf. Just ditch every character I like)

Thankfully there's KoF 2k2 Unlimited Match. I'm totally grabbing that if/when it hits Steam.

BB Hood (Shoulda been in Marvel 3).
Q. Bee (ditto. Hell just get rid of Morrigan, she's in every other fucking game anyway)
R. Mike (One of my most-played characters in SFA3)
Karin (One of the my other most-played in SFA3)

Soul Calibur 5
I bought every other SC game at launch but I still never touched this one.
Namco's decision to dump everybody (along with not having a competent single-player mode) turned me off with the quickness. What a waste.

Guilty Gear Xrd
I expect to be massively disappointed with the final roster.
Hate reboots. =/
 
Roy. I know he wasn't as good as Marth but he hit like a truck and I thought he was far better than Tiara Boy. Bring him back please!

The reason why Remy was dropped was because they realized they were not going to continue the fakeout that he's Guile's illegitimate son, thus making him pretty redundant to the storyline.

This was never true. Eolith developed 2001 and 2002, yes, but they never owned the rights to any specific characters, Angel, May Lee, and K9999 included.

People saying Mewtwo....I donno. He's so floaty in Melee. In Brawl, I can't even imagine how floaty he'd be. Not to mention most characters who are fun to play as in Melee lose a lot of that fun in Brawl.

There is no way they cut Lucas, in my opinion. They cut Roy because they came up with a quite distinct moveset from Marth for another FE character. Lucas is already entirely distinct from Ness.

Remy is Charlie's son.

Abel is from France, like Remy, and part of his story is having seen Charlie, which makes Guile fight him as his rival in (at least vanilla) SF4.

When Charlie was in France destroying Shadaloo cloning facilities, from which Abel was rescued from, he had some off time and fathered a son.

They both throw "Sonic Booms" with one hand and Remy also has the multi Sonic Boom super instead of a Sonic Hurricane super.

SF was bound to change up the roster like they did, it just took too long after so many SF2 re-releases. Imo, the III series inches out having better fighters than II, as iconic as II is.

My favorite characters randomly dropped would probably be Oswald, K'9999 (damn licensing), Vanessa, Angel, Heavy D!, etc. from the KOF series. I do believe I'll see them again in future games though, so I'm not that worried.
 
All my of mains in fighting games have been dropped from the roster although some of them have returned for a game or two.

Tekken: Michelle
It was disappointing to see Michelle gone from the roster. Nina and Anna were dull characters from the very beginning so I didn't understand how they were considered the females of Tekken. Although I like Julia, she doesn't have the spunk and charisma that Michelle had. Everyone was excited to see Jun and Kunimitsu back in TT2, but what about Michelle? She is one of the original 8! She's always been underrated, and I felt that her story could've been elaborated more with her father's death and the mysterious amulet that she possessed. I guess I was happy to see her back in Tekken Tag 2, but it's obvious that Namco didn't care about her cause she was nothing more than a T6 Julia clone in TT2.

Soul Calibur: Seong Mi-Na
The classic Heart and Soul Girl is gone in SCV. It wasn't too shocking since she's been relegated to the back ever since Kilik's appearance, but it still doesn't change the fact that it sucks that she's gone. It doesn't help that Hwang, Rock, and Setsuka are not there.

King of Fighters: Mature
One of the classiest orochi tails who has a unique movelist. I was very happy to see her in XII & XIII, and I hope to see her in future King of Fighters although Iori's ending says otherwise.

King of Fighters Heidern
This guy is awesome. Never got the appeal of Leona.

Marvel vs Capcom series: Psylocke
I've always had the impression that she would appear in each installation so it was interesting to see her gone in Marvel vs Capcom 3. It would be nice to have her back.
 
Zasalamel and Setsuka not returning in SCV. Every time I see Tira I think of the other two characters introduced alongside her and just shake my head. Hopefully SCVI (if such a thing is even happening) will bring back a lot of the omitted characters.

Guilty Gear: Baiken, Johnny, Jam, Testament and Bridget. I understand Xrd is pretty new and will probably see a lot more vets come in through updates and DLC, but man needs more Baiken and Jam.
 
Why did I know this would be about Mario Kart?

But for me. Most of Madou Mogonarti Characters in modern Puyo Puyo games (especially as fever copied so many of the tropes). These days they've bought back many of them (and they were probably weren't randomly dropped to begin with but probably some sort of rights dispute as SEGA owned Puyo Puyo but D3 owned Madou Mogonarti) so its kind of rectified even if I really don't like modern Puyo Puyo artstyle.

I don't get it either. I thought Birdo was popular. Thing is Nintendo do have an internal list of character popularity (next level games mentioned it in a mario strikers interview). I would say they are trying to make some of the less popular characters more popular or go for ones that have been overlooked (e.g. Kamek in Mario Golf) but then you look at the Mario Kart and its bizarre made up characters like Baby Rosalina and Metal Gold Peach. Then again there is the occasional left field one like ROB.

She is from the X-men side of things, so character rights was a bitch. Same for Gambit and Cyclops.

Wish it was only these two. They removed Yun Seong, Seong Mina, Talim and Rock

What's funny is that they were actually planning to have some of these characters in the game, as there was concept art of Bangoo (the son of Rock) and some others. They could have at least showed some decency and make them DLC but nope they thought that overpriced clothes for character creation was a better idea

These have already been mentioned more than once. As for the latter, who, again, is never coming back, that was as a background cameo, only in the console version, and they didn't even get his height right (said cameo had both him and Kula standing on the pier, with him a bit taller...problem is, he was always shorter than her).

Capcom themselves probably didn't put that much thought into it though. I hope in SF5 they actually think about their story try to satisfy those who like the characters but aren't multiplayer win level.
