Best Crash Bandicoot game after the trilogy?

Crash Team Racing, which is also the best Crash game, and probably the best game Naughty Dog ever made (haven't played TLOU yet).

edit: ohh, if we're not counting racers, i'd say Twinsanity is worth playing, but it still isn't half as good as original trilogy.

I'll throw in another vote for Twinsanity. Game definitely took the series in a different direction, but it was a welcome change. My only gripes were that Aku-Aku masks didn't protect Crash from Nitro crates and the gem system was too different from past entries.

Wrath of Cortex had some cool stages, but it really just felt like Warped 1.5. I didn't play many of the handheld games nor Crash of the Titans/Mind Over Mutant, thought I have one of them on 360. Need to get around to playing it.

Edit: removed racing game stuff.

Twinsanity does its own thing, and it's glorious.

The mechanics, the soundtrack, the humor, it's all amazing. I really really would like a sequel.

Excluding Crash Bash and the racing games, what is the best Crash game after the original trilogy? Don't think I've ever touched any of those games, but I'm suffering from Crash fever right now and would very much like to play something "new".

Suggestions? Or are they all as bad as their reputations?

For reviewing purposes I played all of them.

I'd have to say that Mind Over Mutant is the one I appreciated the most. A fine game, not at the level of the ND ones, yet fine.

I think I had Wrath of Cortex on GC but didn't like the open-world nature of it, or that's what it seemed at first. I was angry at the lack of closed off paths!

I played the first GBA one, I think it was called Crash XS here in the UK. Really enjoyed it and have been meaning to pick it up again, along with N-Tranced.

Young me liked Wrath of Cortex and older me forgot about the loading. Haven't played any since.
