Best Flying Vehicle

ant_

not characteristic of ants at all
I've been going back to Far Cry 4 today to finish up the last few missions and I gotta say, the Buzzer is one of the best damn flying vehicles in a game. It's super fun to fly, really easy, and very manuevarable.

It got me thinking - what game has the best flying vehicles? In terms of fun, ease, and just overall mechanics.

The buzzer is stuck in my mind right now, so I'll go with that.

You nailed it OP.

Far Cry 4's Buzzer is the easiest and most enjoyable flying vehicle out their imo.

One of my favourite fictional jet is the F-25 BlackOwl from Lethal Skies Elite Pilot/Sidewinder F and its sequel. Just a really cool design, and its super maneuverabilty made it one of the funner plane to play (and pratically the only way to make that 2nd canyon run mission playable, heh).

No really good pic due to how obscure the game is... Kinda remind me of the Chengdu J-20, now that I think of it.

Hard to find a good pic of them but pretty much any plane/bomber from Battlefield 1942. I loved how every vehicle was pilotable/drivable in that game.

Far Cry 4s buzzer. I've been working on getting Platinum on it for the last couple weeks and I love how easy it is to fly and how your open to the air and not in a cockpit. That feeling of soaring over the trees low and seeing the wind from the helicopter blades is awesome

I think that's a huge part of what makes the Buzzer so great. The way the environment and people react to it makes it feel so damn good.

I don't think I enjoy piloting any vehicle more than Just Cause 2's combat helicopters. The fact you can skydive off of one and re-enter it just before it crashes makes it even better.

The Warhawk, nothing even comes remotely close for me. The insane maneuverability (hover mode + flight) made for some incredible dog fights and aerial acrobatics. I could do 50 laps around a huge map dueling with someone, flipping and thrusting and spinning and drifting and bobbing and weaving. It was so dynamic and empowering.

I know this isn't a VTOL, still...

The CFA-44 Nosferatu
You want to get somewhere in this? Don't worry about turning radius, just DO IT.
Also pasting everyone in your field of view with one ADMM is practically a religious experience.

Heck yeah. I came into this thread to post the exact same thing (I remember you from the OG Warhawk threads back in 07-08, too. My man).

Bit of an oldie but the feeling of getting this baby was so great:

Highwind_3.jpg

When you first take off - such relief - "fuck you random encounters, can't get me in here!" Plus the sheer speed of it and that music! It was great...

(It's the Highwind from Final Fantasy VII if you don't know what I'm talking about)

It may be cheating (literally), but the most fun I've ever had with a flying vehicle was to put on the "hovering cars" cheat in GTA3/VC/SA and hop in a tank. You could spin the turret around 180 degrees and then use the explosions to propel yourself through the air infinitely. I always had a ton of fun with it, particularly doing the vigilante missions and trying to swoop down to hit your target.

Six axis is one hell of a drug.

The helicopters in Battlefield 2. They required such an investment in time to get good at, but once I got good at them I felt like a God.

The Zarch/Virus ship is the most fun to me. You control everything with a mouse. Flip to any direction in a fraction of a second. Fly straight up, turn upside down in an instant and boost towards the ground.

Saw thread title.

Thought of FC4 buzzer.

It just adds so much to the game considering you can fight from it, you don't have to land to get out of it, it's simple to fly, I love it.

Kinda cheating, but the Nosferatu from Ace Combat 6. Lock on to 12 enemy jets and blow them all out of the sky at once.
Edit: It was already listed.

Halo: Reachs Falcon:

You could dominate a whole enemy team in Invasion when a good pilot and gunner are working together. What could be more awesome than a flying warthog?
