Best FPS games this gen

So, GAF, what are your favorite FPS games (don't include stuff like Gears/Uncharted etc., we're talking strictly about FPS games) this gen (PS3/360/Wii)?

Some of my favorites:

1) Bioshock.
Not so much because of the shooting, but because of incredible story and level design. The game is just brilliant on occasions and is one of my favorite games of all time.

2) Call of Duty 4 and 6 (MW1&MW2).
I was a big fan of IW since their beginnings. I loved both CoD4's and CoD6's campaigns, although I prefer 6 over 4 just slightly. Regarding multiplayer, CoD4 was awesome (played it for around 40 hours), but on the other hand, from this 10 hours or so I played MW2 I just hate it. Overpowered killstreaks and extremely bad spawning made the experience very frustrating for me. But, since 4 was so awesome, I'll play it some more and try to see if it finally clicks.

3) Killzone 2
Mindblowing graphics, sound and physics. Controls were troubling for some (many?) people, although the dead zone removal quite improved it. Phenomenal AI made every encounter challenging. A little amount of hate goes to the story and somewhat unlikable characters, although the best mech level EVER near the end was a very nice surprise. Clan system was awesome and is responsible for around 150 hours I poured into this game.

For me, probably Killzone 2. But then again, this gen is not over yet, so I don't really know which will be the best FPS game..
Probably Killzone 3, though.

Well, yeah, it's kinda of a hard to predict what's going to be the best in the end, so we should just stick to what we have around NOW. :lol

I have high hopes for Brink, though. :P

Crysis
Bioshock

The rest are shit and make me glad to go back to CS and UT with the occasional quake.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

All of mine are already listed except for Resistance 2 and Halo 3. I need to play ODST.
I think Halo 4 will be this generations best or Killzone 3.

Multiplayer: Team Fortress 2 - 400+ hours and counting
Singleplayer: Episode 2 or Clear Sky, can not decide.

But you did not say PC, so I am not sure...

PC have no generations in the way I look at it, so it's kind of a mandatory inclusion. :P

Thread title and OP are a bit conflicting.

On one hand, the title says "Best FPS games..." then the OP is asking us to name our favorite FPS games.

Here lies the issue...

COD:MW2 is definitely one of my favorite FPS games this gen since I have a lot of fun in it. However, with all of the glitches and BS that happens in this game, it is far from being the best. ;)

Anyways...

The Orange Box
Killzone 2
COD:WAW
COD4
Borderlands (technically also an RPG but whatever)
Battlefield: Bad Company
Bad Company 2 (already know it will be awesome based on the demo)

Yeah, you're right, but most people post on their own (subjective) feelings, so I guess most of people here equal best and favorite, since fun factor is an extremely important factor in judging a game in most people minds. Still, you are correct. :P

Edit:
My splitting hairs over the title/OP should not be taken seriously.

Speaking strictly single player (since I rarely play multiplayer because I can't stand cheaters/griefers), in the order that I played them, chronologically.

1. Halo 3
2. Halo ODST
3. Modern Warfare 2

Killzone 2 I've found somewhat entertaining (haven't finished yet), but I played it right after I completed MW2 (in one sitting) and I think the heavily scripted sequences and cinematic feel of MW2 kind of ruined me.

Killzone 2
Bioshock 1+2
Portal (does that count?)
BFBC2 looks to be great

edit: forgot Condemned

CoD4
Halo 3
The Orange Box
Killzone 2

I'm pretty sure Battlefield Bad Company 2 will be someone in there, but everything else is a step down IMO. Modern Warfare 2 is a disappointment online to me, and Halo ODST doesn't stack up to these.

Wow people enjoyed Killzone 2 that much? To me it was just a normal shooter but with great visuals, nothing more really. Gameplay wise there's way better out there.

Anyway:

1. Battlefield Bad Company 2 : Have you played the demo/beta, I mean damn so amazing
2. Battlefield 1943 : If there were more maps and modes etc, I'm sure it'd be number one
3. Modern Warfare 1 : It opened my eyes, such a great game (2 wasn't as fun, balance fucked etc)
4. Crysis : no, it doesn't just have pretty visuals, it's actually really good, with new unique gameplay
5. Halo 3 : Halo campaigns still are the best, even though the gameplay has aged

Bioshock is a fuckin amazing game, but I didn't even use guns in the second game, so it can't really be called a shooter.

Battlefield: Bad Company
Resistance: Fall of Man
Bioshock
Fallout 3 (yeah it's an RPG but still)
Condemned

Honorable Mention:
Medal of Honor: Airborne (great cover/peak system and weapon leveling)

Killzone 2

Still playing the shit out of it, never had the same feeling with any other game. Thinking I'll finally move over to Battlefield 2 once it's out.

Others I really enjoyed this gen:

Orange Box
Resistance 1
Bioshock 1
Battlefield 2 Demo

So far, for me, they have been MW2 and Resistance 2. Of course HL2 would be up there but haven't played it on PC yet, only consoles.

The Left 4 Dead games for me.

I quit heavy online gaming many years ago after a marathon 72 hour Quake III session, I had uninstalled that bitch and promised myself never to be sucked in by an online FPS like that again.

I sort of fell off the wagon with L4D2. Then L4D2 came out, and the wagon backed up and crushed me under it. Damnit.

Unbelievably addictive.

Most other FPS games have left me pretty cold this gen, probably after playing so many similar games on PC for years.
