So, GAF, what are your favorite FPS games (don't include stuff like Gears/Uncharted etc., we're talking strictly about FPS games) this gen (PS3/360/Wii)?
Some of my favorites:
1) Bioshock.
Not so much because of the shooting, but because of incredible story and level design. The game is just brilliant on occasions and is one of my favorite games of all time.
2) Call of Duty 4 and 6 (MW1&MW2).
I was a big fan of IW since their beginnings. I loved both CoD4's and CoD6's campaigns, although I prefer 6 over 4 just slightly. Regarding multiplayer, CoD4 was awesome (played it for around 40 hours), but on the other hand, from this 10 hours or so I played MW2 I just hate it. Overpowered killstreaks and extremely bad spawning made the experience very frustrating for me. But, since 4 was so awesome, I'll play it some more and try to see if it finally clicks.
3) Killzone 2
Mindblowing graphics, sound and physics. Controls were troubling for some (many?) people, although the dead zone removal quite improved it. Phenomenal AI made every encounter challenging. A little amount of hate goes to the story and somewhat unlikable characters, although the best mech level EVER near the end was a very nice surprise. Clan system was awesome and is responsible for around 150 hours I poured into this game.
