Best friendship dynamics in games

Don't really have much to add OP but I definitely agree on Xenoblade (P4 too but I have my complaints about it). The in-battle dialogue and post victory lines elevated the relationships of the cast so much for me, I don't think any other game has given me that kind of feeling with its characters.

There are TONS of enjoyable friendships in games, but it's rare for them feel so authentic or as if they were real people you form bonds with.

Catherine was great with this.

Going to this place and meeting Vincent's friends at the Stray Sheep after surviving a night of nightmarish monstrosities and just shooting the shit was a very cool feeling. Not to mention other scenes like talking with Orlando in the bathroom stall or at the sushi bar... Good stuff.

Yes, great stuff. Everyone play Catherine.

If XV did nothing else right, it did this right.

I got the friendship vibe going strong in the Mario & Luigi games as well, and the DKC games.

NieR 1 has an incredible party dynamic, though they aren't really people who would become friends outside of the bizarre circumstances of the game. Same with Persona 3. Persona 4's cast dynamic feels more naturally teenager-y.

X and Zero.

A friendship that spans hundreds of years and multiple game series. A lot of times they work together. But other times, when one is down, the other always fights on in their place. It's pretty great.

Kat and Raven from the Gravity Rush series. Originally rivals in the first game, but in the 2nd game they are essentially each other's best friend.

No one posting the Cooper Gang?

The good thing about it too is that eventually their numbers went so big and even Demitri becomes part of the gang!

OP nailed it for me. The dynamic among the characters in P4 is the only reason that I consider it a (ever so slightly) better game than P5.

Except the Yukiko part. Chie for life!
