Best Game OST in 2016 so far?

What is the best OST of 2016 so far?

I was hoping Mirror's Edge: Catalyst would have a better OST, but I was a bit disappointed.

I'll go with Dark Souls 3.

Doom

I expect Deus Ex to take it though - OST is gonna be godly.

Unless we count small snippets of OST's from trailers/E3 for games not out or won't be out in 2016. In this case Zelda and Nier >

1.Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator
2.Dark Souls 3
3.Doom

The GG soundtrack is just all around fun to hear, specially Safe Intoxication. I've been looking forward to getting my hand on the official soundtrack for it but haven't been able to find it.

DOOM

Not only is DOOM's soundtrack crazy good, what makes it so amazing is how it blends into the game itself. It's not just playing the track from the game as you play, it's mixing it into the action going on the screen to make it an even more visceral experience than it otherwise is.

Furi easily.

Doom is definitely the winner of "game score I never expected to have on repeat as much as I do" though.

It's a shame when in 2016 a lot of people are saying Doom 2016 has the best soundtrack. I mean it's not bad within the game's context but it's not really something I'd listen to outside the game that's for sure and it's completely forgettable.

It just shows how vgm has regressed over the years. Gone are the days of wonderful soundtracks from games such as Mario Galaxy, Silent Hills, Shatter, Castlevania, Turrican.

Instead we are left with loud heavy metal soundtracks that are getting voted just for the sake of being different. In my opinion at least.
SOTY 2015

SOTY 2014

To anyone with similar thoughts, I would suggest checking out Neogaf's Soundtrack of the Year threads.

Uh, as for me, Furi and Vallhalla(l33tspeak) are my picks.

It's gotta be Doom. Fits the gameplay so perfectly.

Does Rhythm Heaven Megamix count?

Thanks for the suggestion, OP. I didn't even bother watching a trailer for Furi despite "buying it" with PS+ but now you made me download it, looks and sounds great.

Having marathoned Doom 1 and 2 right before starting the reboot, its soundtrack was really nothing like what I expected. I think it's literally the only thing I didn't like about it, a shame. It does win the "best use of music" award from me, though.

The Witcher 3 Blood & Wine.

Wine Wars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDpK8A1t-O0

Blood And Wine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JBXiRMzhUo

For Honor! For Toussaint!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfaR8fiBzh0

The Beast of Beauclair: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqmiVLo9i98

The entire soundtrack is phenomenal, but these are my favorite tracks.

I change my answer to this actually! Sorry Doom. Another masterful OST for The Witcher. How could you leave out The Musty Scent of Fresh Pate though :p

Wine Wars is a great pick though. That song blew me away in game.

It breaks my heart to see that Mighty No. 9 is not one of the games deserving of a mention here.

I thought that this game - even with all its faults - would at the very least end up having a reliably good soundtrack seeing as the great Manami Matsumae worked on it. I mean, what are the chances that both the game overall as well as its music would turn out disappointingly mediocre? Sigh...

The game being the way it is was weird enough already having Inti developing it but I really expected the soundtrack to still be incredible, and while not bad, it's nothing that impressive. I like the opening stage music and boss theme a lot, but while I enjoyed the soundtrack to some degree, I can't remember any other song right now...

I am torn.
On the one hand, DOOM has phenomenal music that I love to listen to outside of the game.
On the other hand, Dark Souls 3 has some actually moving tracks in it and is the first Souls game where I really like a lot of the soundtrack (I like Bloodborne and Demon's Souls' scores a lot too, but I haven't played them).
I voted for DOOM, though.

I Am Setsuna, FFXV, The Last Guardian, and World of Final Fantasy have yet to come~

It's Doom. I'm not even typically a fan of that djent-y kind of metal but it works so well with the game's over the top aesthetic. It's the next best thing they could have done besides getting like, Vektor to do the soundtrack or something.

I still need to play Furi, but I'm so worn out on synthwave.

From what I've watched of beta streams, World of Warcraft: Legion has some pretty great stuff in dungeons - I've always been a big fan of WoW's more ambient music though, so that's probably no surprise.

Overwatch is probably the game that has surprised me the most this year. I wouldn't listen to the soundtrack outside of the game, but the use of instantly recognizable cues for different stages of the game is great. I normally turn music in multiplayer games off after a week or so and put my own music on, but I haven't done that with Overwatch yet.

I still haven't played Furi but i'm 100% sure it's fucking awesome

Carpenter Brut <3

I also really, really like Oxenfree's OST.

It's kinda disappointing actually. The tracks he composed for the ost feel uninspired and some even seem to be using samples from his other, better tracks from his eps.
