The ultimate "you're fucked" combo.

Came in to post that Devil May Cry 4 Nero reversal gif. Glad to see it posted repeatedly on the last page!

Although not as nice as a natural flowing string, because of cancels and other techniques, Darstalkers and the Marvel series all have really nice looking combo strings.

EDIT: Oh fuck! Oh fuck! How could I forget Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure? King of beautiful combo strings.

One of the many details that Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE borrowed from the Fire Emblem series was the over the top animations in the Special Attacks and during the "Sessions" (This is all the character attacking the same target if the first attack exploit an enemy weakness)

Love the little detail of their autograph (all the characters are part of the entertainment industry as actors, singers, MC, etc...) being used during the casting of their spells.

How the fuck can I look at a thread like this and NOT represent my avatar's namesake???

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier. Everyone's abilities.

I know people said using SRW was cheating but there's this subtle difference that separates it from normal SRW attacks. Besides the fact that it's people doing these attacks, with SOME help from robots.

The first minute and 40 or so seconds of this video are just... hnnnnnnnnnnnn

I know they technically made everything look smoother and have more effects in EXCEED and PXZ but there's a really strong nostalgia I have for this particular incarnation, here...

I think Exceed replaces the original Endless Frontier for me, being a straight up improvement in pretty much every way. They pretty much redid all the animations for the returning characters to make them more smoother and added way more attacks.

[DS] Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier EXCEED ♦ Opening / Assists / Attackers Skills

Everyone looks and feels great, though my personal favorites are Haken, Aschen and Suzaku. Haken is a gunslinger on overkill, Aschen is a android with shotgun heels and Suzaku controls a mech with more gatlings than the Gundam Heavyarms by disco dancing.

Man Haken is such a good character. He kicked so much ass in Project X Zone as well.

I'm not sure why people are hyping up Squall's remixed version of Cloud's limit break:

That's what disappointed me the most about Lionheart when I played the game. I was expecting something different. Tidus from FFX might have stupid aspects about him but at least his limit breaks were more unique, especially the blitzball ones.

i dont have any gifs, but i played a game on my cousins 3ds called project X or something like that. The attacks were pretty flashy.

It would do that to me probably. If I could actually HAVE that game, at least... I'm still praying for the day when all these OG SRWs get suddenly mass localized and packaged in a retro collection when I'm, like, 60.

Haken is so bizarrely great in that I love nearly every god-damn thing about him, and any kinks in his characterization are ironed out naturally and in a sensible way through EF. He's fucking great, albeit chained down by the localization and translation teams... he wasn't as good in PXZ as he was in EF, and I'm legit terrified to play Moon Dwellers because... because yeah!

I still need to buy moon dwellers tho

along with a PS4

I'm not done with Moon Dwellers yet, so my perspective is still incomplete there, but so far he's been out of focus most of the time, at least cutscene-wise, where for the most part he seems to acknowledge some differences between the OG setting and the Endless Frontier - some of his gameplay specifics, like his Ace bonus, the significance of which mechs he has access to or the trophy related to him, seem to say more about the character, which is a neat if indirect way to introduce him since SRWs, and especially the OGs, tend to have so many plots to juggle at any given time, between continuing old plot points, introducing those for new characters adapted from crossover SRWs and setting up events to be adapted from crossover SRWs yet to be fully integrated in the OG timeline.

Oddly, despite having counterparts to most mecha archetypes under the sun, SRW OG still appears to lack "bards", a role which in the crossover games can get handled by the likes of Macross. But now Haken is in from Endless Frontier, and that series has a group known as the Orchestral Army or something like that... I wonder if they'll make it in on a mech that like like a one-bot orchestra, like Skullgirls' Big Band...

Anyway, it was neat to notice the final pink beam attack at the end of Phoenix Showdown in SRW OG MD seemed so thin there because it's the same beam type in a Phantom attack in Endless Frontier, where it was about as tall as a character there.

Fuck, talking about all this makes me want to run through EF again... it's so weird that everything about the game is kinda bog-standard animu fantasy fanservice but the writing is entertaining and actually good enough that I still remember fucking Kyon, Henrietta, Ezel,
Katze
and the rest. Game's underrated all to shit, and I agree it's probably a very frugal game in retrospect, but god damn...

The charm for me came from the fact that nearly all the dialogue was filled to the brim with snarking, sexual innuendoes and boob jokes. Made it really stand out from the rest, shame that EXCEED never got localized.
